I wont because it looks like crap and it uses the same engine. Plus mods will soon come out that will look like bf2142 minus the gay features like the cloak. But i would be extremely happy if pkm abusers and other noobs buy it and play that instead of bf2. It'll make bf2 a whole different and better game.

WTF? you expect DiCE to have built a whole new engine in 10 months? ROFL. What a lame excuse. It is going to help them generate revenue for a new engine down the road.

I am not going to buy a MOD, thats what it basically is because it uses the same engine that BF2 has.

I don't think so. Really, I will have to try it out first, but I think Quake Wars will be getting my money this time. But again, I will have to try it out and see.

I woulda been buying quake wars for certain over this 2142 game but the thing is quakewars only supports 32 players :cry:
Because bf2142 is supporting 64 I think I might buy it and see.

No. I will not be buying it. Mainly because I don't want to go through another BF2 scenario. BF1942 started off ok. BFV was meh and then BF2 came. I was really excited for it, but I knew I shouldn't have got so hyped. I will personally be buying Quake Wars instead, Human vs Strogg is more rewarding than another Human vs Human game. I won't even bother with the demo. However, some people are really ignorant about this new game. Of course the graphics engine is the same, they consume A LOT of time. I'm sure they were working on the BF2 engine years ago, some people just don't understand the time it takes to make an engine. DICE did a good job making their own engine in the first place, alot of games use modified game engines so they don't have to do all the work, which I don't blame them for. Patches are an entirely different story. I'm tired of hearing people whine about them using the BF2 engine. Games aren't all about graphics, so englighten us, leave the internet and go buy an xbox360.

@Kul - You're expecting too much, why don't you give a shot at making a game engine?

@blackhole - It is a little fast in my opinion, them fixing BF2 would be nice.

Bfv wasn't a mod for bf42. Bf42 was a mod for bfv.

And if bf2142 was using a diff engine and a mod came out that turned it into bf2 then that would be awesomem i would check it out. But if it uses the same engine and costs $$$ while a mod thats free comes out and is almost identical to it then guess what im gonna choose. I also dont give a crap if the mod is not "official content" like most noobs do.

Won't be buying it or QW:ET. That futuristic crap doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'm also a bit peeved that instead of improving the game I do like, they went off and decided to start on a new one not even a year after BF2 was released.

No im not. I just think that Dice should take a couple more years to create a new engine and then make bf2142 use that engine instead of having a billion games using the same engine.

Sure, anybody would love a new engine. Better graphics are always nice but shouldn't be the focus of games. Games are about gameplay and fun. I would use the BF2 engine if I was in their shoes. The BF2 engine just needs some optimization, it's buggy but it sure looks nice as hell on all High. That's the problem with the new wave gamers, they just want better graphics. It's funny too, when they get in the game they will barely notice them anyways, they'll be wanting to get their awards so they can show off their e-penises.

EDIT - I agree on the 2142 part smythBSD (can't agree with you on Quake Wars, it looks fantastic, but that's my opinion). They should be concentrating on BF2, there is alot of showstopping bugs that just annoy me to death.

EDIT2 - For you folks bitching about the graphics engine, why not check out Quake Wars then? It looks like it has funner gameplay and it's using the Doom 3 engine, one of the best to date. It's lighting is unmatched. Until the Unreal 3 engine comes out of course. Wait a minute, maybe I shouldn't be saying that, I don't want the graphics kiddies bitching while I'm playing Quake Wars, disregard that!

Question: Assuming that these are the only two options available, would you rather:

A) Have a BF3 in a modern setting using a tweaked BF2 engine in the fall

or

B) Have 2142 in the fall, and BF3 (in a modern or ww2 setting) on a new, next-gen engine in 2007/8.

Believe me, based on sales alone, they absolutely will revisit the modern period. Look at 2142 as a means to keep a revenue stream during the gap, to pay all those coders building the next gen game you Really want.

Well... once it comes out it will cost like $40 when the mods will come out and will be so much better and they'll be free, they might even be more fun then bf2142. And how would you like to play every single game that you play on the same engine? well, thats what ea is doing.
