Since i couldnt get the profile to work , i thought i would try to make a new one. Couldnt do anything with it at all. To make a profile do you need to edit the xml file to do so, or will the program do it?

Thanks

Re: BF2 & VoiceBuddy3.0

Welcome to the thread Cardini :) Thanks for your input.

Sounds we have a very similar setup. Nostromo N52 (don't you just love it!!), Logitech G15 keyboard, Extreme 3d Pro joystick and a MX1000 mouse. (MX518, does that mean you are another fellow Logigamer user?).

As regards Shoot not recognising some phrases I would say this is defintely related to training.

As regards using Voice Activated Teampseak I am in exactly the same scenario, I prefer it's just there for me to communicate with my friends rather than having to press a button. The toggle option however only affects Shoot's voice recogntion, it either enables or disables it executing commands. it doesn't interfere with the mic so you can still happily use Teamspeak as do I. The Toggle On/Off, press to enable etc though are purely personal preferences. In my experience my headset seems pretty sensitive, I could leave Shoot enabled constantly in my single player testing and it worked perfectly, as soon as I went multiplayer though I expereinced random keypresses etc probably due to much more ambient sound involved so I had to change my method and so Toggle became a desirable option for me. In my case on my Nostromo I have the T 'Squad Leader Commo Rose' reassigned so it's to the left of 'Q', and it became handier for me to use this as Toggle as i use it less frequently thatn the 'Q' key plus in my XML file I tend to auto-toggle off many of the commands.

Hey R2,

So far I've only edited an XML file in Notepad. When I started mine bascially what I did was download the "Operation Flashpoint" profile from the Shoot site to see how a working profile was configured and then I totally restructured it to my Battlefield 2 preferences. I've posted an updated version of the file on Page 2 of the thread if you wish to download and try that instead. If you're still having issues post back and i'm sure we can help you out.

Hi LanserShrek.

The TS thing is more about having my TS friends having to hear my Shoot commands, and or or hearing me say to my TS friends, "I'm going to DEFEND a flag"' and reacting to the DEFEND voice phrase. So setting them both to toggle or press to activate seems like the only viable way to go at the moment. I'm just goint to have to experiment some more to see what works best. Any suggestions on how to train just the few words I need?

Yep, I also have a logitech joystick too, extreme 3d pro. I also have a harmony remote for my Dishnet seup too. I dooooo love my gadgets

Hey guys. I hate to be a pain in the arse but could Lanserschrek or spuddy maybe post a step by step guide to getting this to work. You've both been so helpful already. I want to try to get this to work but am having trouble following everyhting, mainly the part to get the commo rose to work and there have been a few updates to the xml during this thread that Im lost. Sorry, I feel stupid for asking for this but I really want to set this up properly.

Thanks.

Re: BF2 & VoiceBuddy3.0

I hope Lanserschrek and Spuddy don't mind me jumping in here... I can help with the commo rose portion...

Locate Controls.con file in:

\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 *Note: it might be 002 or something based on which player your editing.

Find this line in Controls.con file:

ControlMap.create defaultGameControlMap

Add these lines to that section:

ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_GIMouseLookX IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad6 IDKey_Numpad4 1
ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_GIMouseLookY IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad2 IDKey_Numpad8 1
ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GIOk IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad5 0 1

Make sure this line is somewhere in there as well, it probably is already there:

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GIAltOk IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad0 0 1

After those are in your Controls.con you can now move around the command rose using the NUMPAD 2/8 (down/up) and NUMPAD 4/6 (left/right). NUMPAD 5 selects whatever is highlighted. NUMPAD 0 gives you the SPOTTED selection menu.

After you edit try them out. Hit Q to bring up commo rose then use your NUMPAD keys to move around.

You'll have to have the pros help you with the Shoot stuff...

I agree, just keep it simple, conveniate, and have fun. I can now use all the vehicles, armor, and shoot made that possible for me with my disability.
I still need to figure out the crouch tags.
I changed crouch from (ctrl) to ( c key) but I need to tell it how long to hold.
here is what I have:
<command name="COMBAT - crouch" phrase="crouch">
<key type="c" />
</command>
I think I need a toggle, or pause, tag here also ???
any suggestions?

Welcome to the thread too Slosh.

I've drafted up a basic guide and I'll fill it out tomorrow and post it, I might get you to check it out first though before posting as I hope it to be comprehensive as possible and get someone up and running easily. I guess it should cover everything from installing Shoot, installing Microsoft's Speech kit and editing the 'Controls.con' file to use DosX's method for interacting with the Commo Rose (Thanks again to Spuddy's finding something in just the right place as just the right time ability).

In the meantime it's almost 5:30 here so I'm outta work and off to sink a few Guinness :)

Hopefully DosX's post might get you working the meantime. Also see my post on Page 2 of this thread as it has the up to date XML file configured to work with DosX's method.

I reckon what you need here GI_WILD is actually two commands. One presses your crouch key, the other command releases it.

<command name="COMBAT - Crouch" phrase="crouch">
<press type="c" />
</command>
<command name="COMBAT - Crouch" phrase="stand up">
<release type="c" />
</command>

Although you could have say an alternative where you only crouch for a period of two seconds or whatever, an example of that is in my XML file where I press and hold the TAB key for a few seconds to show the Scoreboard and then it is released. Let me know if the above works.

Crouch + BF2Enhance =

BF2Enhance changes CTRL to a toggle. Once for down, once more for up. No idea how it will interact with other key mappings and macros...

LOL Ah another BF2 Enhance user?. Crouch is the only thing I use it for. Well I can confirm it works, been using it for ages. Have the standard Ctrl for Crouch assigned to a DPad key. And BF2 Enhance allows the Crouch to be a toggle method.

Ironically I think we've just thrown Autohotkey back into the mix as I believe BF2 Enhance is just an Autohotkey script compiled into an exe.

had to change 1 crouch to kneel.

After modifying the Controls.con file, these are the NUMBERPAD keystrokes and commands:

And the Squad Leader keys:

Shoot Installation Process

Shoot Installation
1. Download Shoot 1.6.4 from here.
2. The download has provided you with a zip file 'shoot-1.6.4.zip'. Extract this to the folder of your choice, in this case create a folder C:\Shoot\ and extract the zip file here. As per the download page and Shoot's forums note that at this time it will only work with Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
3. Download Speech SDK 5.1 from here. The full file is 68MB
4. Extract ‘SpeechSDK51.exe’ to a temporary folder and run the ‘setup.exe’ accepting all the default options.
Shoot Initial Configuration
1. Download my Shoot XML profile from here. Extract the contents of this zip file to the correct folders. ‘Battlefield 2.XML’ is to be placed in C:\Shoot\Profiles and the two accompanying .wav files are to be placed in C:\Shoot\sounds.
2. Run C:\Shoot\Shoot.exe. Load the profiles by going 'File \ Open' and load ‘Battlefield 2 Shoot.XML’. NB: A profile MUST be loaded in order to configure the Microphone. Also, by default my profile has Shoot voice recognition toggled off, you MUST activate it or you will encounter a "The Microphone Wizard has failed to initialize" error. Toggle on voice recognition by pressing the ‘T’ key. Check that you can access the ‘Speech \ Audio \ Microphone’ menu. From here you will have to say some phrases to configure your microphone volume levels.
3. Next step is to commence Training. ‘Ctrl+T’ will start this or it can be accessed via ‘Speech \ Recognizer \ Training’ menu. Follow the on screen instructions to commence voice training.
Configuring Commo Rose Interaction
Shoot can only perform keyboard presses. Interacting with the Commo Rose normally requires both keyboard and mouse movement/click. A workaround for this is to assign the keyboards Numpad the ability to interact with the Commo Rose.

Follow these instructions:
Locate Controls.con file in:

\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 *Note: it might be 002 or something based on which player profile you are editing.

Find this line in Controls.con file:

ControlMap.create defaultGameControlMap

Add these lines to that section:

ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_GIMouseLookX IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad6 IDKey_Numpad4 1
ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_GIMouseLookY IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad2 IDKey_Numpad8 1
ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GIOk IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad5 0 1

Make sure this line is somewhere in there as well, it probably is already there:

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GIAltOk IDFKeyboard IDKey_Numpad0 0 1

After those are in your Controls.con you can now move around the command rose using the NUMPAD 2/8 (down/up) and NUMPAD 4/6 (left/right). NUMPAD 5 selects whatever is highlighted. NUMPAD 0 gives you the SPOTTED selection menu.

After you edit try them out. Hit Q to bring up commo rose then use your NUMPAD keys to move around.

Now that we can access the Commo Rose via the Numpad it allows Shoot to initiate the series of key presses needed issue Commo Rose orders.
