    Re: BF2:Removed from Shelves

The most amusing thing about this thread is that you think you have kept your personal account info off the dreaded internet. Guess what, at a minimum your bank has the information stored somewhere that is accessible online, and quite likely there are other places that you have used a debit card that have it stored as well, even if you didn't make the purchase through an online outlet. Don't take this as a flame because it's not meant to be, but it's people like you that are the most vulnerable due to your naivety. Ignorance is bliss until you one day wake up and realize you've been ripped off and can't understand why or how.

    *Edit*

Good luck in getting things sorted out and finding a way to get the booster, it's a nice addition to BF2.

So basically you lied. And if your story is true some ignorant store manager over reacted to a fabricated myth that somehow BF2 is not playable without EF, and pulled a perfectly good game off the shelf without checking the facts. Brilliant.

Seriously, there's nothing stoping you from playing BF2, and certainly not SF since thats a seperate game anyway which EF has zero impact on. My server browser finds on average 1200 ranked servers on any given night given my particular filters, and only a small fraction of those are running EF. So far the only ones I have seen running EF are running nothing but EF, although I'm sure there are a few that are mixing it in with other normal maps. Stop crying wolf.

Wow!...take a pill. Birth control pill prob be better. Do not need more of you's around. I know regarding banks have info about me. I am not that safe their either. But safe enough from Credit cards and buying online or people who have Credit cards from banks.."Visa, Mastercard". Guess you haven't been a victem yet of Identity theft. Your day will come.

I didn't lie that I am not able to play. Because it is true, how some of who do not have EF, and those who will get it. Will find out, they are not able to play the game. One two rounds, then a message to get EF to play on server. I guess you haven't read all the posts. This is just the beginning of a new problem of BF2. Your to afraid to face the facts.

Just wondering - how did you buy your computer . . . ?

Anyway, ANY bank should have the prepaid visa cards. Seriously, if you cannot find them, then you're not looking hard enough. Any mall should also have the card for you.

Worst case scenario, you can order it over the telephone with a Visa representative. Now if you feel that is also dangerous, than I don't know what to tell you.

I have asked bank tellers. They told me, they only have Visa, mastercard.

Gosh...I do not know how you guys do not know about identity theft. What is wrong being protective on my identity. You guys trust using your stuff online using Credit cards..I applaud you, for taking that risky step. All I am reading is like; "Do it" as if idiots are telling me to join em, it is safe. Screw that..

            Re: BF2:Removed from Shelves

There is nothing wrong with protecting your identity, especially online. Personally, I have bought things online, mainly for my computer and used a credit card for it... but to those who say to use a debit card... only a fool uses a debit card online. Credit cards offer a level of protection when something is purchased, if the vendor doesn't deliver the product you paid for, you can contest the charge, and get your money back. Now a debit card... is just like writing a check, once the money leaves your account, the money is gone. The bank will not stand behind you, or offer your money back when you try to get it back. That is the level of risk one assumes when using a debit card.

Best advice I ever got, concerning buying things online... use 2 credit cards. One, for everything else... restaurants, car rentals... things like that. The other one, (different bank) would be used only for online purchases. That way, if the number falls into the wrong hands, you would know right away, can cancel the card promptly, and the number is suddenly useless.

Vdog has every right to want to keep things on a cash basis, and to protect his identity. Credit can be a bad thing for some people, and there are stories everyday about hackers getting into sites and stealing credit card numbersl Guess some people are targets, and others choose to stand aside and let the bullets fly by.

              Re: BF2:Removed from Shelves

It's attitudes like this that stop people living.

By definition, $50 on a piece of plastic is hundreds of times safer than $50 in cash.

              Why?

              Electronic money has fraud protection
Electronic money can be reclamed after theft
              Electronic money can be traced.

Paper money can be stolen and never seen again.
              Paper money burns
Paper money can be easily lost.

As for this whole "Fraud protection" ever thought that the most danger to you would be to trace your I.P and then find out your details via your ISP. Far easier than hacking a Credit Card's protection.

With technology comes security, credit and debit cards would not have been invented if it was not preferable to cash.

Loose a credit card? cancel the account
              Loose a $50 bill? loose $50.

As a closing thought, Euro forces is about modern technology, it's only fitting therefore that we use the most up to date and safest payment method

                Re: BF2:Removed from Shelves

There is a world of difference between credit and debit... obviously you don't know that. Debit is no more than an electronic form of a check, banks will not recover funds from a check, or a debit. Debit is basically no more than cash on hand, they get electronically. Someone gets your debit number, drains your account, you won't get your money back... credit you will.

Tell you what, I'll sell you this widget for 100 dollars. Send me your deibit card number, after I post the withdrawl from your bank, and you don't get it... try to get it back. After the bank refuses to reverse it, try contacting the authorities. This is why it is so easy for crooks, they prey upon all the misconceptions about online purchases and use of plastic.

Someday, the laws will catch up with the crooks, but it just won't be today.

Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but I think you are full of it. A retailer is not going to pull a game off the shelf because some guy that can't figure out how to order something online storms into the store and starts complaining.

be careful!!! they may be watching and if you use your debit card to get cash from a ATM to buy a card for online purchases then they have you in the grid and they know who you are and can even dust the ATM touchpad for your fingerprints to allow for a secret agent to use your ID as a cover for covert ops and late night sales calls. evil bastards.

actually depends on the bank you use. my card is a debit that works as a credit also. and if ANY, read again,ANY purchase/withdraw/anything done not by us we get back. actually ours will not even authorize it unless it is being shipped to our home of record. i cant even ship things to my work. but then again that was nice when the card was stolen and someone tried to buy a $450 IPod and the bank and apple kinda just laughed, got their name, and called us and the police. all that happened to my account was i got a new card(mine was worn and cracked anyways). they even traced it back to the computer that he used to order it. so maybe you need a better bank eh?

It is still possible to intercept transaction data between client and server.
Of course those transactions are mainly secure nowadays, but with all the software, malware, spyware, trojans etc floating I see fit to be very careful with online transactions.
Spoofing a domain, and it's corresponding site is an easy task for a swift cracker kiddo.
Taking over a transaction session is also very well possible with the according know-how and and the other party being too naive.
A bank/credit institution will never admit that a secure transaction was "cracked", or that there was an intrusion into their databases. They would rather keep quiet, and replace the loss immediately. Imagine where their stocks would go if an intrusion would go public...

Guess it's all about being at a wrong place at the wrong time (or something like this )

All methods of payment that EA uses are on secure pages, sure a hacker could possibly get your stuff, but thats a really big could.
Or as I explained it before, your credit card information can just be hacked out of the credit bank issuer's networks. It's possible but not likely. So you could essentially get a credit card or debit card, NEVER USE IT, and have the information stolen. But here's what I dont understand the paranoia about with credit cards, the only information they could steal is your name, which is public record, and a credit card number. That's it! A credit card theif does not get your social security #. The theif cannot go around and steal your identity by opening up accounts. And if you realize your card is stolen, you call up the credit card company, tell them your number was stolen, all unauthorized purchases go bye bye and you get a new number within literally minutes.

I forgot my credit card at a restaurant several years ago, didn't realize where I lost it at the time, I called up my credit card company, and they IMMEDIATELY issued me a new number. There were no fraudelent charges and I later found out when the restaurant contacted the credit card company I left my card there. So even if you're feeling paranoid someone took your number, and just want a new number, they will give you one. No questions asked.

These banks want your business, they will appease your concerns in any way they can.

BTW, [13]VisciousDog I'm not starting an argument with you, you came here for a solution to buy EF, I think the solution is to get over your paranoia and use a credit card. I'm sorry if that offends you. I'm not out to offend anybody, just offering some truth.

That's why the only info you should really never give out over the net is your social. That's pretty much where someone's identity can truly be stolen. Otherwise, a credit card number is easily replaced, with fraudently charges taken right off the account.

Also I do believe a new federal law in the US now requires banks to tell customers if there was a breach of security in the banks networks for customer's personal info? I could be wrong, I do know California has that law, and I thought congress decided to pass something similiar on the federal level.
