Open a bank account for $100.00 and have the bank issue you a limited Debit card/visa check card that works like cash. Keep just enough money in that new account to maintain it and cover any actual online purchases.

That way if any damage is done it is limited to that one account with the power to issue checking type stop order calls. You are then free to participate in internet commerce.

I thought this thread had something to do with BF2 being removed from the shelves.

      Talk about a hijacked thread.

      LOL

Yeah...surprising turn around. I am surprised the guy took em off the shelf. I dunno if they are allowed to do so, but he did. Also at EBgames, a fight broke out last night in the store regarding BF2. Guy tried to get a refund, but he already registered the game. That is what I was told, and they took the game off the shelf.

That's just crazy (regarding the fight). I was gonna suggest getting a gift card from a mall. They're Visa cards that can be used at any place you like. Even online.

Wow, it is amazing what will strike a nerve with some people on here...

Anyway, I picked up one of those Visa Gift cards at my local mall to give to a friend as a gift. Easy breezy. Check with the "Customer service" desk of the mall (probably located near security). If that is a no go I would just stop by your bank. I would be shocked if you couldn't get one there... Visa also has one time use numbers that are totally safe to use on online. You can only use the card number one time.

I dont see any flaming in here. If i didnt like a brand of shampoo, and was told its probably better than what im using i would take the advise onboard and maybe change my mind.
There is no flaming, only advise and facts.

I was hoping EBgames could help on this kind of situation. Nope..beyond them, and they know what is going on.

you sound paranoid, i have been buying stuff online for over 5 years and have yet to encounter a problem. i even got my dad buying stuff online and he was so paranoid too.

Wait, I don't understand, they are taking the vanilla BF2 off of the shelves? Could you clarify why? It was a little confusing in your first post.

Told em I wasn't able to play BF2 anymore until I am able to purchase EF or anyone that purchases BF2 and SF, will not be able to play the game unless they have EF. Store manager seen the website to get EF. And things started to happen then. Sorry, I wasn't clear enough.

You can still play BF2 without EF or SF. There are still many servers out there that don't have those maps in their rotations. I don't understand why they would pull the game from their shelves when you can still play on hundreds of servers without any issues.

How many posts here have you heard from people purchasing Euro Forces and then in turn having thier personal info stolen? Um, i believe ZERO. All methods of payment that EA uses are on secure pages, sure a hacker could possibly get your stuff, but thats a really big could.

I agree that its stupid to offer a game online only, really cuts down on thier profits they could have made, another large, and painful could, haha. I myself even went and looked at Eb Games, Wal-Mart, and GameSpot, the guys at GameSpot looked at me like i was speaking Arabic when i asked about the card that contains your online download code for EF, lol. One slightly flamy cashier even said "Ooooo, that thounds tho cool, but we wont be carrying that, thorry".

Guess its just up to you and your paranoia to sort it out. I DL'd Euro Forces from EA, and my account is still snug and secure.

P.S. Ive been having a sick old blast playing those 3 new maps, and ALL of the Euro weapons are just dreamy IMO, i think you should just go for it.

Yes their is some servers that do not host EF and even SF. Lucky if they are ranked and also ping is ok. Might get a few rounds in a server before getting this "Must have Euro Force to play on this server" message. It is like playing a trail version of BF2. Play, then your time is up.

Hey!...my life. If you think it is safe..good for you. I do not go that route. Nothing wrong protecting my personal life in more ways than one. Identity theft and credit card numbers being hacked off the internet is a growing trend.
