Re: $20 to anyone who can help me fix the stuttering prob

This is simply amazing! i was just on with a ping of 60, every setting on low, resolution set to 600x800, was getting 87-95 fps and lagging like crazy...

    Pentium 4 (3.0)
PCIE 256mb graphics (ATI x700) updated drivers
    2 gig RAM
80 gig 7200 rpm (SATA) HDD

    not on wireless connection
    reinstalled game
    defragged
closed everything possible other than BF2
    etc, etc, etc.

Try updating PB manually. Everyone seems to think that the stuttering is related to video settings. I'm not so sure. It looks more like a network problem to me with PB being the prime suspect. I'm not having the problem myself running P4 3.2 with ATI 9800 XT (Omega) and 2GB RAM.

Already went down that road - no change!

Then I'd say you're one of the lucky ones.

I'm still waiting for a reply from someone named EA/Dice -

I just want to be clear on what you've done, so I'm going to make a checklist of what you've said you've done, and what I think needs to be done. If you've already done any of my suggested steps, let me know and I'll add it to the check list.

                    What you said you've done:
Un/reinstall of BF2 expansions and patches
                    Updated video drivers
                    Scanned for Spyware/Viruses
Optimized system (Disabling performance checkers, ran msconfig ect...ect...)
Internet connection has been checked out.

What I would do if I was having this problem.
                    1) Attempt to do a parallel install with only BF2, the patches, and your internet connection software. See if that has any effect.
                    2) Check for dust on the inside of the case. (I once got about a 15FPS increase just by doing this)
                    3) Run various diags on your memory.
                    4) Update the BIOS, check the AGP memory apature.
                    5) Format reinstall, reinstall new updated drivers from the internet, try a different version of the (I dont know when the last time you did it. I format my hdd every 3 months, or as soon as I start having problems.)

                      No Dust
                      No memory issues
                      BIOS fine

I'm With you SKIDM4RK, this has to be patch related.

I have played the game since its release with out a problem, maybe a slight bit of lag as I enter a map, but this only lasts for a couple of seconds before i'm running round blowing peoples heads off.

But since the patch I unable to play the game as the in game lag while connected to a server is unbearable, and it does not serem to clear up for me, it just carries on throughout the map.

My thoughts is this has to do with the network code of the game, maybe EA/Dice have buggered about with fit or the patch, to try and "optimize" it in their very own special way, and they have only caused more problems. If we take a look at what they fixed in patch 1.21:

                        - Fixed the error in Client - Server communication causing sound, animation and other sync issues.

This would be my guess at what is causing the problems, they have tried to fix a little problem, and have only managed to make the problem bigger.

What we need is to stop all the crap comments about dust being in the heatsink and cloggin up fans cos that is just B$, and the issues about what system you have, it should be testament enough that it is said the game was played without problems before the patch.

We need put our heads together to find a workaround for this problem, while EA/Dice get their fingers from between their cracks and get this game sorted out once and for all.

                        BTW Great forums!!!!

                        Peace! :)

If the OMEGA drivers havent helped , then its a network related issue, but not oin your side, alot of people are having lagg problems with bf2 since 1.21 so we just got to wait matey

Just a quick question has anyone actually reported this problem to EA ? And if they have what sort of response did you get, if no-one has reported this problem to EA, then I will be more than happy to send my dxdiag report and the issues I am having post 1.21 to EA.

Lemme Know, and i'll post here what EA actually say to it!
