$20 to anyone who can help me fix the stuttering prob

OK so I have tried everything that has been suggested in these forums, so spare the idiotic "helpful hints" telling to reinstall/reformat/install new ram/clear spyware and virii/run system optimization tools/some retarded s*** about internet connection (i have already tried these anyway, ESPECIALLY ALL MANNER OF REINSTALLS)... So please review these things i have underlined, and use your common sense to identify any i have missed, before you decide to spout some idiotic troubleshooting in this thread. I have also tried the clearing prefetch file/defrag combo. I also really shouldnt have to tell you my specs, but basically its 1gig ram, x800 radeon, and p4 3ghz, so mroe than enough power, AND MORE THAN ENOUGH INFO ON SPECS THERE... And let me tell you this right now so you dont come up with some other stupid s*** to try to "help": THE GAME WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE. I HAVE PLAYED IT FOR ALMOST A YEAR WITH NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER.
Now that these very simple things are hopefully clear, i can tell you ive been having the problem since v1.20 and now still having it with 1.21... The game runs nice and smooth for the first few minutes of play, then starts chuggin out of nowhere, making it unplayable. Somethign must be wrong somewhere, I am no expert so i cant say, but it is obviously not this stupid "general overview" troubleshooting advice people are giving... so if anyone out there can help out, its there in the thread title, mailed to ur door, i cant afford mroe than $20 wotherwise it woudl be more... for once lets hear some helpful advice on this problem which many people seem to be having

First, what settings are you trying to play at?
Have you overclocked, do you know your temps?

sorry if you dont like those Q's, but just answer them and we can move on.

Anything else you need to know in order to help would have been mentioned if relevant. My settings, are good enough for the game to run with no problems. Look at the quoted text. And thats all you need to know. As for the overclocking, read the first sentence of this paragraph.

He said he had already done that... The patches seemed to have done that alot to the game. try to bring down just one or two of your settings, you may find it helps, also make sure that you dont have too many background programs running, as it sounds like its a ram issue, when the cpu has to go to the HD, as it runs out of available ram.

                Mine does the same thing

Shuttering in 1.21 that they didnt have in 1.2? It didnt do this in 1.2 but in 1.21 the game will pause for a half a second and then jump ahead, I watch the HD activity and the hard isnt loading, and it still shutters. and my ping is good it was in the 50s. The Specs of my system are

                Amd 3700+
                Biostar 210p mobo
                2gb Cosair Ram
                6800 GT

anyone know what could be causing this?

Im going try to reintall and put in the 1.2 patch and see it it still stutters

i've heard that pentiums reduce it's perfomance, when get overheated.
you've played a year, so may be it's full of dust in your case? may be your CPU gets overheated becouse of dust?
try to play with opened case or flow away all the dust

1-Make sure your monitor refresh rate matches the refresh rate you have you game set at.

2-How many hard drives you got? If you have two, make sure your set your virtual memory to the second hardrive and disable in the the first.

Two things that come to mind.

Why is that? And what about if you have 2 partitions, should it be on the 2nd one aswell, or only if you have two seperate disks?

Ok, I have the same exact problem, which all started with patch 1.2. It has made it to where I can't even play the game anymore. I am a member of the BF2C tournament, so not being able to play is costing me money, but more importantly I just miss playing.

I patiently waited for patch 1.21 in hopes that would address (and fix) the problem as I heard it was possibly affiliated with ATI graphics cards. Evidently, unlike NVIDIA, ATI isn't throwing any money EA's way, so those of us w/ ATI cards are paying the price. Anyway, patch 1.21 did not fix the issue.

For me, THE GAME WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE. I HAVE PLAYED IT SINCE IT WAS RELEASED WITH NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. until 1.2.

This is totally unacceptable!! The only change my computer has seen was the addition of these 2 patches...nothing else has changed.

I've tried all of the advice given in forums through this website as well as suggestions in numerous other websites addressing the same issues.

I have a Pentium 3.0, 2GB RAM, PCIE ATI 700 Graphics Card (256 RAM) and an 80GB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive)...I just reset all my settings to low at 800x600 and made sure my desktop setting were the same. I got on a server with a 40 ping. I lagged like crazy and watched the ping bounce around from the mid 50s up to the 800s (although the ping bouncing doesn't always occur, the lag does.) My computer should not have this problem. I've defragged, reinstalled, and everything else mentioned in every forum I could find.

I think the big question is why does this happen only during online play? Singler player is just fine. This is clearly an anomoly that EA should narrow their focus on. I don't know a whole lot about computers, I'm in Law Enforcement, in my business we call that a clue.

Folks when you peel this back I think it's clear this IS NOT a problem with our computers, it's a problem with EA and their last 2 patches.

I read somewhere that EA gets the majority of their feedback from reading forumes like this. If that is the case...EA, YOU need to fix this and YOU need to make it a priority! I love your game and enjoyed playing it. There's only one thing for you to do and that is make it right!

If you're ping is going way up, this means you have high latency, I had this fairly recently, are you using a wireless modem? I was having loads of problems like this, it started a couple of weeks ago, I got so fed up, that I went and bought a wired modem, and made a few tweaks, and hey presto...My ping is now stable.

I also got a tuning program called tuneup utilities, which has a setting which can improve your internet latency.

I do however freeze up, once every hour or so, and get told I have lost my connection, but this has been going on since I started playing the game 6 months ago, so I figure its just a client bug.
