Re: $20 to anyone who can help me fix the stuttering prob

disregard the few imbeciles who have posted in this tread... comes with being in a game forum

i have just reinstalled the game once again, and ive noticed it runs fine and smooth for the first few minutes, but then starts lagging like usual... so if it runs for the first few minutes with no problems, does that give a clue about what the problem might be?? something about a memory leak? is this a known problem taht can be fixed? please let me know, so i can start a fresh thread on it

Re: $20 to anyone who can help me fix the stuttering prob

I have posted about this issue many times, I’ve contacted EA and sent in my DXdiag along with explanations of the issue.

I’ve even pointed them out to this site to see the numbers of players with this issue.

It’s a problem with them not us, nothing I’ve tried has worked.

The game ran like a dream on top settings for months until just over 3 months ago it seems it all went wrong.

Right after that sound issue where the speakers would screech and then after the game would lag.

The sound was sorted however the lag has not aside from the fact it happens after a while of play rather than at the start of play.

I’m sick of the lack of quality in this game, I’ve waited weeks for this to be resolved.

All I get from EA are excuses not to mention a load of crap like I’m an isolated issue or we have not seen or heard about this problem before….

I patiently waited for patch 1.21 in hopes that would address (and fix) the problem as I heard it was possibly affiliated with ATI graphics cards. Evidently, unlike NVIDIA, ATI isn't throwing any money EA's way, so those of us w/ ATI cards are paying the price. Anyway, patch 1.21 did not fix the issue.

For me, THE GAME WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE. I HAVE PLAYED IT SINCE IT WAS RELEASED WITH NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. until 1.2.

This is totally unacceptable!! The only change my computer has seen was the addition of these 2 patches...nothing else has changed.

I've tried all of the advice given in forums through this website as well as suggestions in numerous other websites addressing the same issues.

I have a Pentium 3.0, 2GB RAM, PCIE ATI 700 Graphics Card (256 RAM) and an 80GB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive)...I just reset all my settings to low at 800x600 and made sure my desktop setting were the same. I got on a server with a 40 ping. I lagged like crazy and watched the ping bounce around from the mid 50s up to the 800s (although the ping bouncing doesn't always occur, the lag does.) My computer should not have this problem. I've defragged, reinstalled, and everything else mentioned in every forum I could find.

I think the big question is why does this happen only during online play? Singler player is just fine. This is clearly an anomoly that EA should narrow their focus on. I don't know a whole lot about computers, I'm in Law Enforcement, in my business we call that a clue.

Folks when you peel this back I think it's clear this IS NOT a problem with our computers, it's a problem with EA and their last 2 patches.

I read somewhere that EA gets the majority of their feedback from reading forumes like this. If that is the case...EA, YOU need to fix this and YOU need to make it a priority! I love your game and enjoyed playing it. There's only one thing for you to do and that is make it right!

OK First off... WE are all trying to help both you and Bonk what his face and since you posted a somewhat civil response I'm more inclined to offer some insight to your problem. With that said I'll tell you the problems I had with BF2 and what I did.

I was having problems with my connection as well as lag and stuttering. I did the following.

            - Uninstalled
            - Ran Adaware
            - Registry mechanic
            - Disk Cleanup
            - Disk Defrag

Then did a full Reinstall with patch 1.2
            No change, Still same problems

            Then did the following:
            Opened the necessary ports ( I use a Linksys BFSR41 V.3 router)
            Rebooted entire network.
            Problems remained

Took phone off splitter and just ran the DSL connection
Worked nicely for about an hour and then the problems re-surfaced

            Reinstalled my nic,
            Problems still there

Then I found the MAC Address of my nic and entered it in the bios.

Since then I haven't had the same problems even with the DSL sharing the same line as the phone.

To me it sounds like there is a problem with the connection SOMEWHERE. I know I know... You never had the problem before said patches. Well we can blame EA for that BUT let's deal with it and move on. Now, this might not help you but it is what I did and it worked for me. Who knows, it might work for you.

            Good Luck

Re: $20 to anyone who can help me fix the stuttering prob

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I'm using a cable connection, so I don't share my internet connection with a phone line. I agree with you that EAs patch has caused some sort of conflict with the actual connection, I just wish I was smart enough to know how to figure it out.

The problem is only with BF2 and only during online play, so it's clearly an EA issue. I sure hope a solution surfaces soon, I haven't been able to play since before 1.2 (no change with1.21)

                Skid,

Do the Mac Address Thing anyway.. That is not connection specific. It should help with your broadband connection as well. you never know dude :)

I have had the same problem and it was during single play and multiplayer. For many of us it seems to be a client-side issue, not just a connection problem.

I don't know what changed, but all of the sudden two days ago I lost all lag. Nothing changed otherwise. It almost seems as if a fix was initiated and no one was told.

Has anyone else experienced this or are you still getting the lag? I hope I'm not the only lucky one!

I had a stuttering problem with all the new EF maps.

I fixed it by updating my nvidia video drivers. Now I can play EF without any problems and there is no lag/stutter what so ever.

Re: $20 to anyone who can help me fix the stuttering prob

Just a suggestion as it worked on 2 of my friends systems.

They were both suffering from this same issue, and i was not while playing one evening. I looked at my settings and checked everything out. Then took a look at theirs, the only real difference aside from graphical settings (they both have SLI 7800GTX's) was that they were running with EAX enabled. I was not. I suggested to them to turn it off even though they are both running X-Fi cards. They proceeded to do so, and one of the systems began functioning normally, the lag went away. As for the other guy, he still had the problem. But brought to my attention that he had his onboard sound enabled and also used his X-Fi card. X-Fi was for gaming and onboard was used as line-input for his ShoutCast station. So i had him disable onboard audio in his BIOS and try the game again. This time the stuttering had stopped. Both of them havent had any issues since then. Both stated it only began happening after the latest patch was installed.

Im not sure if this has been tried, i didnt read every post in the thread, but merely skimmed through. So if this has already been said, then my apologies.

                              Hope this helps.
