claymores are directional anti-personnel mines, if they can get beside or behind it, it wont detonate

What bullcrap. People jumped up and down precisely because it was much harder to hit them, what with the lag and weird hit-boxes.

This is where the "skilled" argument always break down. People claim that BH and DD were so skilled. Presumably they required practice and ability, then. So this begs the question: why on earth bother learning how to do it, if it confers no advantage?

Just so they can look like ballet dancers having a seizure?

      I think not.

Then someone always comes and says, "oh, yeah, BH and DD are no big deal, they're easy to hit . . ."

      Yeah, right.

Re: The patches have killed the realism.

I cant remember that EA sold BF2 as "one of the most realistic military shooters ever !" If you really looking forward to a realistic FPS keep your eyes on Ghost Recon. But its told you before.... as i played GR the biggest Boom of GR was 1000 players per day. I think you will agree with me that more players complains about realistic in BF2 as playing realistic FPS seriously.
So no offence indeed, but i give a **** on this complaining realistic stuff.

edit: i forgot to note AmericasArmy , a really well realistic FPS too

Having fun is 1 thing, but getting tk'ed "because of other people stupidity?"
If you run over a friendly mine and die, the stupidity lies with you, not the engineer that set it there. When you press the ALT key, the skulls and flags disappear off your screen until you press the key again. I've never failed to use it. If I see a claymore or mine and the skull is not there, I find another way around.

            IDEAL SETUP:

Clays/ Mines should detonate for EVERYONE, but there should be no TKs for running into a friendly mine, instead it should count as a suicide (I mean, Come on! friendly mines have white boxes around them!).

Engineers could difuse AT mines not clays.

Clays should be able to be destroyed by Nades & maybe bullets. At least then a sniper would have to hide thier clays.

If EA/Dice did that it would be awsome! :)

All the Claymore bitching in one thread or even in one of those other 259 post-1.2 Claymore threads that has the word "Claymore" in the title to clearly inform you that the thread is about Claymores.

Do you think that things are going to change or that you have any NEW ideas regarding the use of Claymores that HAVE NOT been expressed yet in those other threads already?!

edit: And one more thing that I realized from the great title of this thread, how the **** do you think that the patches have killed realism from BF2 since there never was any realism in BF2? Couldn't you just name the thread more like "I don't like FF-off for Claymores"?

Yeah I'd have to agree with you. BF2 IMHO is an arcade game at heart anyway.

in fact in this book on the vietnam war I'm reading right now it's the rifle platoons that carry claymores with them out on patrol, yes regular ol rifleman and machine gunners oh and they had to trigger them with their clackers in order for them to explode
Sniper teams do/have used claymores to cover their asses. Nothing like the friggin claymore spamming in bf 2 obviously though lol

Re: The patches have killed the realism.

Realism? It's a video game so I wasn't looking for Realism, an accurate account of Time Period and Weapons sure, but that's about it for me.

IMO, after 1.12, all they had to do(really), was Tweak the AA. This would have eliminated/eliviated the BH Whinners/Jetwhore Whinners/AttackHelo Whinners. Now, this would have done nothing about the Bunny Hop/Dolphin diver Whinners, though it was rather annoying, who really cared that much about that? It happened soo rarely(except maybe Comp. Play), and wasn't that difficult to counter(if you have a brain). Oh, and do something about the Red Name bug(which I know is somehow connected to BF2cc and Switching a players Team), but again that didn't really interfere with the flow of the Game.

Realism - It can take 2 AT missles to Destroy a $15,000 Jeep, but 1 AT Missle will Destroy a Billion $$ Jet?? No Realism there?

In the military there are three kinds of engineers, Topigraphical, they make maps and such, Construction, they build stuff, and Combat, they uses explosives and vehicles for defensive operations and obstacle, and clearing the way of the assault of explosives such as mines. During ones time as an Engineer in the Army, one does a course called the EQR, or Engineer Qualification Range, one of the tasks is to employ and disarm claymores, along with mines, cratering charges, shape charges, using C4 for steel and wood cutting etc...Actually, claymores are a basic skill, learned by I believe all MOS in basic training.

the game sucks so bad now, it is too noob friendly...

everyone is support or medic now,

before they stopped jump shooting people played all the classes.

and YOU CAN jump and shoot in real life, why not shoot and fall, the game is so gay,

still get PTK'd for accidents, why not deduct 2 points and give no option to PTK for benefit of the doubt, plus not many people would try to TK cos they lose points, common sence. how dumb are they...

too noob friendly i say lets go play and get killed by 999898989 support guys with PKM's

VIDEO GAMES ARE NOT MEANT TO BE REAL! THATS WHY THEY ARE VIDEO GAMES!!!!!!

BUt i agree on one part: the patches are taking some fun out of it. Yeah, dolphin diving is annoying, but if you think about it, soldiers probably CAN do it. sorta like the matrix jump and point guns forward and shoot.

I hate that patch 1.2 took ability of shooting in air away. I hate it when people shoot guns in air, but now theres no way to make c4 get any distance...

Claymores are fired by a human held trigger. If you want to get technical, the game was never realistinc in that matter.
