The G3 as it is now is an OK weapon, but I prefer the F2000 or even the M16 since it's more accurate. Low mag capacity just invites a raping from an enemy squad of 4 or more people. As someone else said, it really depends on the map if I'm gonna wield it. I also happen to prefer having a GL, being one of the few things that makes the Assault class special, over regular grenades.
But yes, you are right the 30 round magazine is useless in real combat situations.
Yeah, that was why I said prevented you from shooting it accurately or comfortably. Getting your head shot off is pretty uncomfotable, I'd guess.
Although honestly my experience was with a FN-FAL, not a G3. Same idea though. You could get hold of 30 round mags that (IIRC by the Canuks) were developed for the fire support version of the FAL.
While great fun on the range standing, they were useless from a standard, non bipod equipped FAL when prone. Especially if you didn't wan't to rest the gun on the mag.
Kinda, it was just that the person i quoted said that the G3 mag almost as large as the AK-74s, and be about the same size as the M16. BUt in reality, the M16 has a slightly larger mag than the AK74.
M16 mags are less bulky than any AK mag I've ever had with the exception of +30 rounders...M16 mags have no "catchy" edges to them, all AK mags do.

Also, the G3 magazine would be larger in width, cause it uses a 7.62x51mm NATO round, so 51mm for the width of the magazine, and the M16 uses the 5.56x45mm NATO round, so the width of the magazine is 45mm.
What you describe as being the width of the magazine refers actually to the LENGTH of the case of the ammunition.
7.62 is the width in mm of the bullet, 51 is the length of the case the bullet fits into.

The G3 is great in-game. Easily capable of dispatching 3 people before a reload.
As for those wanting more rounds...weight was the primary factor behind the decision for 20 instead of 25(Galil .308), or 30. The reason 5.56mm exists is because lugging hundreds of rounds of 30-06 during WW2 meant less rounds for each soldier, and .308 isn't much lighter. So 20 was standard...as it also was with the 5.56mm during Vietnam initially until they met Kalashnikov.
Someone mentioned 30's for the FAL, they do also make them for the G3 actually...but it sticks so far out from underneath the rifle, that it is totally impracticle. so, we have 20 and like it.
i unlocked the G3 first
im 43 points away from my next unlock (2nd) and i toataly regret unlocking that one first. I play assault class for the MEC, i love it, but he G3 doesnt fire quickly enough and it doesnt hold enough to do more than a couple of kills. I feel strongly about unlocking the PKM or the G36C but i have not played wiht the G3 that much, i play alot of support and a little less of the Special Op. I dont think the G3 is that great, unless you totally master it. Which i wont bother.
