The essex you can just go below deck and never be killed by a jet.
I mean realistic room yes. What is the point hiding below deck for the whole round?

On the Essex there is a fixed target mass with only 2 real exit points at least on land theres a whole 360 degree exit path which means less chance of being killed by base rapers (comparitavly I know this does still happen)

Ok I understand. And you are right.

What I am saying is that the essex has much more defense than the main airstrip does even if it has more places to hide...

Thats why they are needed more on the Essex rather then land airstrips as they are not so vital for the defence in comparison.

Don't get me wrong I think there should be more AA positions everywhere or at the very least an AA class with no more then 2 rounds to prevent spamming. Not nesisarily (can never spell that  ) have 2 AA posts at same flag but spread more evenly over the map.

But thats the thing. This situation im talking about isn't about finding people to kill and defending against jets finding people to kill.

Im talking about USMC jets baseraping the chinese/mec airfield at will mainly killing jets and people waiting in line for jets while at the same time its 50X harder for chinese/mec players to do the same to the USMC side.

          Is that fair?

Aye... you missed my point when I said #1... I wasn't saying that you should say it like that... I was killed by a Mk-29 Sea Sparrow Launcher... I was saying that people were being a bit ignorant by saying things like, "Omg , I 'm not a flyer but it's freaking easy to take a essex out..." or in another post, "Commanders need to stop sitting in an essex because they keep getting killed..." You can call me anal... maybe I am. I'm just saying to call them "guns" or "AA Units" or the like. The guns themselves are not called "Essex"... Thats all... Sorry for the confusion... I didn't expect every weapon to be explicitly named, I just expected people to realize that the GUNS aren't called "Essex" but the SHIP is called "Essex".

Another thing, Alcor, that you're missing... typically when the US only has the carrier, the opposing team has bases with mobile AA which are just as powerful - if not more - than Essex's AA Batteries...

Sure I see your point has happend to me a few times and is very frustrating, however if there were a few more points scattered around the map then the pilot will have to pass over more threat areas, thus increasing there chance of being shot down.
Granted when its the only flag or position left to spawn from this would not be the solution however in the grand scheme all non pilots at least stand a better chance of escaping whislt on the Essex that cant happen

It takes about 5 seconds of jet cannon fire to kill the gun.

And There are two essex guns in close proximity to each other while 90% of the time there is only ONE stinger guarding the main airfield on the land.

I agree with the above post for the most part.

However, the argument that most people don't use the second one is pointless, if you have an overpowered weapon and don't use it doesn't mean its not overpowered.

I just want a slight HP decrease maybe 20%.
The guns are quite balanced, I dont fly much. I never really did because someone would always beat me to the chopper or jet. I've never had a problem with Essex guns, I've always been able to take them out. You are stirring something up here and eventually it might get changed for the worse. LIke other things have in the previous patches.

I just had a funny image in my head; Wake Island, the stingers are all replaced with huge Essex guns amongst the trees, and on the USMC carrier there is a eensy weensy stinger

I personally wish they'd made more use of those turrets. They're a perty cool aspect of the game.

                    Something worth noting, tho.

Most/all large maps have mobile AA that spawns at the MEC/Chinese air bases. Those suckers pack almost the same punch as the Essex defences, but have the advantage of not being so predictable in their location.

I don't see a problem, other than players who still insist on trying to use those mobile AAs as IFVs (Infantry Fighting Vehciles).

why should it be balanced to the stinger?

Yet. The Anti-Air "Kit" shouldn't be a "Kit". It should be an Alternate to the Anti-Tank rocket. Same class, different shoulder fired weapon. Therefore you cannot just have a entire squad full of Anti-Air... primarly because on tank would ruin your day.

This is the best suggestion Ive seen for this concept yet. Great Idea!

exactly... I will say that with the ability to hide the Linebacker and it's MEC/Chinese equivalent in an inconspicuous location, it is arguably a MORE powerful Anti-Aircraft weapon than the Essex's AA Batteries...

it would be nice to be able to keep the baserapers away, unfortunately there are quite a few angles where you can fly in without being able to be hit by missiles, the gun is a bit weak vs. jets. Being able to automate this on uncappable bases would help?

its fine, u just need to fly smarter IMO

perhaps we should talk about its balance in comparison to its ease to take out water-borne objects.
