You can get really high, but I don't think you can go higher than 800 meters and still maintain control of your plane to be able to come back down.

But yeah....20k I can believe it.

Don't mean to bring you down Lugal, I'm sure they have a ceiling, and your site is awesome. Do you feel better now? :)

the only limit is your processor i think, battlefield 2 keeps enlarging the map untill your computer can't handle it

Tested. His claim is BS. Thats why I called it bs in the first place. Helicopter ceiling is right around 480 alt. Try it, switch to gunner and let the thing spin if you want. All techniques lead to the same thing, Helicopters cannot go above somewhere around 480 alt.

Back to BF2, I have flown the Blackhawk to 15,000 meters. I was in game, stole it and couldnt get any gunners. Since I didnt want the USMC to get it back I just flew it in a spiral up. and when I could no longer see the buildings and stuff I leaveled off, looked at the Altimiter and it said 15,000. I flew it around up there for the rest of the game. By the way I never did get any gunners and I was a squad leader.
Your 15,000 alt BH is BS.

Notice that even if you could get any higher.... it would take a frigging year.

While I didn't believe him about the 15,000 altitude in a BH, I do believe my eyes, and I was at 800 feet/metres/whatever in a MEC attack chopper following those Hinds up (same level as me).

i completely suck at flying in BF2. im strictly a ground-pounder, i really dont feel motivated to fly at all - except to hop in a transport chopper. if i want to fly ill play MS combat flight sim or something.

however often as spec ops i find myself in the enemy base, i kill the guys camping the vehicle spawns and i have a few precious seconds to do something worthwhile. usually i just jump in armor if available and lay waste, destroy some assets or plant some C4 on the helis to blow them up when someone gets in them. but a couple of times ive jumped into the helis and taken off, with the intent to just land them somewhere remote on the map and thereby deny access to them to the other team...

ive just flown straight up and bailed, and from the ground i notice the heli going higher and higher in little circles, it stays up there for like 5-10 min till eventually it explodes or something. is there any reproducible way to do this? whats the trick? i can think of no better way for a single infantryman to hurt the enemy than to sent their choppers up in auto-spins for 10 min :)

Yes, today when I went skydiving at 10,000 feet the plane kept going, it didn't respawn until like 5 minutes after I hit the ground..

Only the MEC Hind will go straight up when you bail, the PLA transport I am unsure of and the BH will spin in crazy circles before crashing. The Hind, if left to spiral upwards, will keep going until that idle vehicle thing kicks in, and the vehicle blows up.
