Has an attack chopper ever saved your @$$?

With all the b!tching that goes on around here about the attack choppers or pilots being bad in one form or another - I'm curious, has anyone ever had their bacon saved by an attack helo while on the ground?

I can only recall one time myself when I was playing sniper and had just spawned on Op Clean Sweep and an enemy main tank rolled up to my flag. Being alone, I ducked behind a building before he saw me, and Q-spotted him. Within seconds, I heard a "ten-four" over the comm and about 10 seconds later the tank was blown to Hell by a wired guided missile.

Out of the cloud of debris and smoke that was the tank, a Cobra flew in at tree top level and scanned the area while I ran in to re-capture the now neutralized flag. It was great for my morale, I felt like waving to the pilot and gunner.

This is how all chopper crews should play the game - sadly, it's few and far between. Anyone else got any cool moments?

Many times, in infantry battles when a tank roles up is killing everyone, a tv hits the tank suddenly saving us.

I was a sniper put up against a tank and APC, and had an attack chopper come in and blow up the tank. Leaving the APC, then an airplane came and bombed the APC to hell.

The best chopper pilot I ever saw was on a Wake Island game. He would hover just behind the forward edge of our advance peppering rocket fire maybe 50m in front of us while his gunner suppressed the softies. He was very mindful of freindlies, and as soon as we had the base mostly wrapped up he would tear off, rearm and repair, then meet up with us at the next base.

The only reason he had that kind of freedom was because our jets were actually killing the enemy aircraft as a priority and grunt-hunting as a secondary.

I really wish I could remember the guys name.

I was actually on the reverse side - I was gunner in an attack helo hovering just outside the surveillance post on Sharqi, and one of my teammates was about to get ambushed from behind by two infantry. Needless to say I gunned them down very quickly. It's always a good feeling when you know you helped out your teammates, or vice-versa. I wish there was more of it, but I guess that's what you get in public servers.

ive probably saved people more than ive been saved, whenever a tank or even another helo is spotted i usually answer the call with the TV guided.. its awesome when people actually spot stuff, makes it a lot easier for me. plus im a pro with the tv missile, actually id rather fly solo and gun for myself, especially if i cant communicate with the pilot.

Hmmm, I would like to think everytime I put holes in tanks and apcs I am saving some poor groundpounders life.

All the time. As Spec ops I like to blow up those tanks with c-4 and they get distracted with the air attack and that leaves me an open door to plant and blow:evil:

I've been saved many times by an attack helo, and I always say 'thanks'.

It is very important to spot enemy vehicles when you play as infantry. One man dont stand a chance against a tank/apc if the driver knows what he does. SPOT ENEMIES!!!!!!!!

This is how the attack helo should be played...

SPOT YOUR TARGETS...I will come by with my co-pilot and decimate them

A 'chopper support needed' commo option would be nice...kinda like in BFV.

Well in a chopper, thats my main thing to go after. I always look for either other helos or a Enemy Tank. I know when I play on the ground tanks can be a bitch. So I always go after them in the helicopter.

I really like to play chopper now and am at a good level for pilot/gunner, and love to play team play way, and if I can help ground force but not all ground force spot things sometimes I have been on a server and nothing is getting spotted, and it wastes the choppers time looking for crap. When I first started playing this game I used to get reall ****ed with all the "Enemy armour spotted" etc but now almost always the first thing I do when I see tank/apc/vehicle and attack chopper I go straight for the spotted button, but I dont do it so much it gets anoying if you get me, so everybody keep spotting those bad boys so I can blow em away.

The AA is the most important to spot and then the other helos and tankers. Tanks are no threat to me when I am a gunner. I just give a dose of my TVGM and they are through.
Tankers beware...if you know I am in an attack helicopter.....run like :censored: or you will end up :dead: like the others.
