Re: Are you quitting bf2 due to patch?

After reading many differnt forums about this new patch it seems like the only people who are really not happy are the people who have made very few posts. ?

I had major probs with Fps after installing the smaller patch, but after re-installing everything, everything is cool.

I'm bored of reading so mnay forums about this game only to see most of the people who are ****ed have about 1 - 20 posts under thier belts.

How many bithching threads have you seen here where the OP has over 100 posts?

look at many other BF2 forums and you will see what i'm on about

Re: Are you quitting bf2 due to patch?

My K/D ration went from prepatch 1.87 to after patch 1.89. Chopper still owned my tank and butt sometime but i also had a couple of jet whoring round. cleansweep 46-2(i stole enemy jet) and oman 26-2(crashed into enemy BH once, and then crane). My assault rifle and GL ratio both went up a bit too. All played on EA WC 32map servers.

If you quit because of the patch, you must be kind of person who don't like challenge. It's still the best game with so much of fun to play out there.

I've stopped regularly playing BF2 a while ago. Only play like every other weekend with some friends. Once some good mods I'm waiting for release that'll change.

I'd love to say that I love the new patch. I'd realy like to. The new changes rocks. Now you realy can't survive without teamwork, and there's no naden00bs all over the place.
I'd like to say that this is the best thing that have happend to the game.
          But I can't.

I tought the game had a few bugs before, but when I sneak up on someone, stab him twice, and it all ends up with that the guy just look at me with his PKM and kills me. You won't hear his bullets, just see your health go down...

A few days ago I stabed someone who was afk 5 times in a row, and he didn't die. I supose it was pure luck I killed him the 6th time. This, and the fact that you can't spot someone while on a ladder without having your minimap go all wacko while getting killed just becus of that a tank just got a big fat silencer.

As another poster said, "If I find a new toy..."

Re: Are you quitting bf2 due to patch?

You don't know anything about adapting. If you people saying anyone who hates the patch is simply a plane/C4 whore or bunny hopper, it really says a lot for how foolish you are for blinding accepting something just because it might help to you die just 29 times per round instead of 30.

Bunny hoppers were easily killable, JETS were not invincible, and heck, the Blackhawk in the earlier patches, was not invincible, but you people continued to whine, continued to complain because you, quite honestly, suck at the game, if you can't overcome something other than a person with bad aim holding a pistol or sniper rifle (which is what you are WELL on your way to making BF2 become, aside from the PKM Rifle currently, which probably will get a nerf in the next patch because people will start dying from it, and again, start whining). Adapting doesn't mean crap if you can't do it BEFORE the patch and overcome what's bothering you. So many people whined about the Blackhawk, when that thing was nothing but a free 12 point flying Yahtzee for me to shoot. Bunny hoppers were easily killed if you did something called SHOOT AT THEM instead of stand there and complain how much you hated bunny hopping, and jets could be brought down if you either A: Took the time to go try flying against him yourself or B: Used some common sense with the AA to ward them off.

If you have to have EA nerf something for you, then call it adapting, you're not doing a darn thing. Right now, you're just living in the limbo time between when everyone else adapts to a new tactic, which you obviously will NOT learn to adapt to, and will start losing just as much as before, and start whining about whatever else kills you because you won't change your gameplay style or apply some thinking to the game.[/rant about morons who ruin a game with lots of potential]

Anyway, I refuse to vote. You didn't put a "Quit long before 1.2" patch.
Anyone have a moron sticker this guy can have?

            1. Good pilots in any airborne vehicle were damn near invincible.
            2. Bunny hopping makes the hitbox go all over the place. I'd love to see you kill me as I bunnyhop/prone dive in your face. In fact I would go 40-10 (5 of those being arty/tank) on infantry maps.
            3. AAs pre-patch were worthless. Only good for TKs.
            4. Perhaps you've never played competatively? C4 was exploited worse than anything else in this game. It's a good fix.
            5. If you quit before 1.2 then why are you here ranting about it?
            6. ggkthxbye

Re: Are you quitting bf2 due to patch?

YEP! The game has gotten really retarded. There is absolutely no squad teamwork in this game. Sure you join a squad and might help out with a heal or ammo but then everyone runs off doing what they want in some chaotic disorganized war. This aint a teambased game. P.S the patch did kill it.

But guess what better games are coming out. Ghost recon Advanced Warfighter For tighter squads, more cooperation of planning and executing plans. Itll be more organized, but for my need to just run around on my own and kill everything. The new Battlefield will rock more. Enemy Territory Quake Wars. Look more into it, and youll find at least one really good thing to make switch over. I found 5 and that doesnt include WAY BETTER graphics. These 5 things you just see from photos and a small trailer, plus articles. Itll have same types of classes with different and more functions. Youll have really big Helos to transport vehciles, and artillary cannons.

"you can designated a artillary location and have a cannon airlifted to that location" I dont know if the Helo is a drone or you have a teammate pitch in. But come on thats hot.

Exactly. You have not been around and seen the various changes that have come and gone. Just when you get used to one style of game play, everything changes and you are forced to deal with the new bugs and glitches.
I am definitely not going to be playing as often as I used to. I think in the next few weeks my gametime will be dedicated more towards other games. At this point, I am just waiting for some of the mods to be released.

Re: Are you quitting bf2 due to patch?

Joined this forum to meet likeminded pilots (LOL...) and gather a few hints and tips aswell as give out some of my own.

Quit this game a long time ago, got my dose of dogfights, some occasional "score-races", but what really disappointed me was that there was no teamwork. Moving together as a team does not consitute as teamworking. So yeah, found SWAT4, got some skills, got into a clan and am currently a tactical advisor and clanwars give me my full dose of teamworkdrug. if you quit because of the lack of teamwork, find SWAT4, easy to learn, expect ****load of cheaters though.

IF you quit because of the patch, then its kind of a question of adaption. Everything happens for a reason, and if the reason for this patch was to be more infantry centered, then so be it.

But I personally love to bitch and talk, just for the entertainment purposes. Some nice arguments here. Interesting to note that the ratio of asshats to good guys here is a lot better than in the servers LOL

Re: Are you quitting bf2 due to patch?

Ok, here is how I feel everyone. We have two extremes, those that love it and those that hate it. But is there a third? Yes, it is where I stand, right in the middle. I can tell you right now, I was happy with the way things were pre 1.2. Why? Because I am a bunny hopping dolphin diving jet whoring c4 chucker? No, haha...because I rarely had to deal with such exploits. The choppers and jets were annoying, yes I admit that, and yes the AA needed a bit of a buff since it had a better chance of hitting a friendly than it did that hovering chopper 20 feet away from you that isn't deploying flares. But, regardless of what you all think, aircraft did take a major punch, when all they needed was a little. Lets just take a look at attack choppers, which took the brunt of the hits.

Reduced hitpoints, reduced rockets, reduced tv missile range, and now buffed up AA. Ok, some think that is awesome, but, what you all still fail to realize is attack choppers were SUPPOSED to be powerful. Yes, I know it sucks being creamed by the same chopper over and over...so what to do about it? But to reduce the chopper that much is...a bit much. I would say that they should have only done one of the things listed...perhaps just increase the accuracy of AA and do nothing else. Why do I say this? Because before the patch, it was easy to take down choppers and jets using the current AA. How can I say this, cause the AA sucked horribly???? Because, one man in a AA site is laughable. However, 3 men, in 3 seperate AA sites, along with a mobile AA all firing at the same aircraft...or if not in range, then just keeping that aircraft diving and swerving and turning and twisting. My friend and I were able to take out the enemy f-15 nearly every time on clean sweap using one AA site and the mobile AA before the patch. The pilot even complimented us for actually shooting him down so much, because we were being smart with the AA. So my point in all this was they didn't need to nerf the aircraft so much...they DID need some nerfing because it was annoying...but not as badly as they did. You have to remember there is only so many choppers and jets per map because they are MEANT to be powerful...if they werent, there would be as many choppers and jets as there are FAV's and buggies.

Secondly, the GL has not been fixed. The minimum arming time is stupid...because it still means Joe the bunny can jump up in the air, fire downwards, and after a second it still blows up. What they needed to do with this was a minumum RANGE, not time. Also reducing the blast radius is stupid, as if there was a minimum range to fire, it would be difficult for those that don't know how to actually use the GL for range. Hitting a target at range with the GL before the patch was hard enough, now its really hard with the reduced blast radius.

This brings me to another annoyance, which is the no shooting and jumping. This had its uses people, but the ones that used the GL to bunny hop and shoot a guy point blank were the reason this was implemented. Ok, so yes sometimes a guy would hop and still shoot you with the gun...omg its a miricle they didnt GL you lol. But all they would have to do for this is reduce accuracy while jumping. But removing it as a whole has created problems. Now you cannot throw anything while jumping unless you throw and then jump. The "offensive mine" that engineers use has been wiped from existance. The other day this would have been useful, as there was an enemy tank over a wall close by to me. I jumped and tried to throw the mine over the wall, only to remember it can't be done anymore. I would have gotten the tank too, since it was quite literally on the other side of the wall.

Throwing grenades has become stupid because of the no jumping and shooting. Why? Because they increased the range of throwing the grenade. Now everyone is a major league baseball pitcher when it comes to throwing grenades, and can throw them fast and hard at distance. This sucks, because I had gotten used to a grenades range and now I have to adjust. More of it sucks because it got me killed several times by the very grenade I threw. I tried to throw the grenade up on top of a building...only for it to go way up, hit something on the roof, bounce back down and blow up in my face. Yes I know you can use right click and hold to adjust for power, but frankly that is a lot of guess work for a fast paced game.

The one thing I dont mind or care about is the prone standing thing. I really have not noticed much of a change except you cannot shoot right away when going prone.

The accuracy of support guns and snipers I am very MEH about. Why? because if you knew how to use them in the first place, you didn't need to worry about accuracy. I am ok for the support guns getting a bit of an accuracy boost, but not as much as they gave them. Sniper rifles were fine, they should have been left alone. If you couldn't make the head shot on an enemy with a sniper rifle, then practice more or try a different class lol.

I think my biggest disappointment though is the fact they failed to fix bugs in the game, and only created others. I have seen sound bugs, name tag bugs, game crashes, and more since installing the patch.

So seeing how i have nearly 500 hrs of gameplay in this game, I can say with confidence that I am an experienced player. I come from both sides of the field, being a grunt on the ground and a pilot in the sky. I know a grunts life is the hardest in the game, everything and anything can kill you. But that is why there are vehicles, some being more powerful than others. In my opinion, to balance the game, what was needed was better AA, about half of what it is now. The aircraft should have been left alone, with improved AA, there would be no need to adjust anything on them. Jumping and shooting should have been left alone, it has more uses than it does faults. The GL did not need a nerf with power, but did need to have a minimum distance before becoming active. This minimum arming time is stupid, as it still allows point blank shots. This is how I think the game should be balanced. I may not have much flying time, but I was a good pilot. So I can say that basically to make everyone happy, what I just posted here to "balance" it should have been done instead of what 1.2 brought.

As I said before, I am MEH about this patch...I neither like it or dislike it...I am just stating what I feel would be fair for all people who play the game.

I won't quit, anyone who plays any kind of online game knows it changes constantly sometimes good sometimes bad. Far as I'm concerned the people who whine about patches/nerfs/etc are worse then the people who whined for them. Most of the reasons have been said, but my personal favorite is the person who blames patches/nerfs for the inability to play a game. Atleast the person whineing for a nerf is playing (and probably dieing but still).

So this begs the question: why didn't you try to adapt to 1.2 before you quit? Because you state yourself that you quit "long before 1.2."

By your own terms, you just became a whiner who couldn't adapt -- in fact, worse than that, because you didn't even try. Lots of us who are happy about the patch actually stuck it out. I sniped with crappy rifles, and refused to put out Claymores because of tks (in fact, I still don't put out Claymores.)
