I believe many of the 1.2 testers were playing from their own home machines.

      Ok, so let's see...

Patch has been tested, yet let's look at most SILLY bugs:

      a) Noone had a need to take a screenshot
      b) Noone had a need to make a search by map name

What kind of testers are those?

No need to get into "serious" bugs. Just look at silly ones. That tells us a lot.

I've spent 10 years of my life in security world. Looking/fixing/analyzing security related bugs (finding exploits, means to prevent them, etc). I've seen most amazing things related to programming and the way programmer's mind works. There was never magic involved. It was always laziness, lack of skills (yet they got job to work on such projects) or plain error.

So many times working exploit needed to be made, in order to convince people that there was an exploit present in some software. Why? Because "they didn't see it before", and they didn't beleive problem was there. Or they couldn't "reproduce" it. And I'm talking about vendors who made those products, not ordinary people using it.

I've even posted details on why map search by name doesn't work. It's pretty simple. Someone f*cked up things when crafting SQL queries, and that's it. HUMAN ERROR. Not some magic that just got itself into patch without anyone seeing it. Not to mention how someone with too much free time will analyze packets and simply send valid packet with specially crafted SQL query which might modify data... hell, maybe that's how all those accounts got "upgraded" some months ago. Hope they fixed such things.

There is no magic, it's always human error.

So, please, don't give us "we have no idea where it came from" attitude. If people can't find these bugs when testing software, maybe it's time for DICE to actually pay professional software testers to do the testing.

At least, someone from DICE could come and say "Ok guys, we've been under tremendous pressure, and we f*cked up few things. We're working on fixing them". I'd have no problem with that, and would actually respect DICE much more.

But pretending that evil witches and weather conditions are the cause of all problems...

I'm using a high end system and I'm experiencing the sound bug plus a couple of other things----the patch is good but there are issues---I wouldn't slam these guys--tersting is difficult I'm sure

I totally believe him. My suspicion is that the people who claim it is easy to find bugs must be insane.
You can write a crappy ass utility program of a few hundred lines in an hour, then be bug hunting the damn thing for days. The more complex a program, the more places bugs can creep in, and the more complex the bugs get.
Bugs can occur on one in a hundred times of execution, or one in a thousand times, so I don't find it particularly strange or irritating that a few crept through.

claymores are fun. And i think claymore fever will subside. THE ONLY way logical to make claymores go away, is to allow ONLY another sniper from an opposing team or friendly for that matter, be able to pick them up. Other then that, making them so you can simply shoot a GL or nade at them to get them to go away, really is............stupid. I mean whats the point?

it depends how you play a game....when i play games i do usally find bugs a lot more often than other people as i try to do things the developers dont think players will do. i can re-create the anti-tank missle bug with ease....ill make a clip tomz if i get time.

My pong wasn't... the ball would go through the paddle half the time, sometimes sounds wouldn't play, and sometimes the enemy paddle went onto my paddle's side.

there is NO WAY they have Beta testers
                      that have 1/2 a brain
it took less than 30 minutes to find dozens of messed up things
                      give me break !!!
now in defense of the game
it is only$30 and is a GREAT game
                      but so much is AFU
why don't they hire for FREE
hell - most of us would PAY to be a beta tester
and make this be a better game

Re: IndianScout (and other testers): Question for you

I'm not saying coding or game testing is easy, but I am surprised so many people accept the statement that the testers never saw any of the bugs. The BS answer about 50,000 people finding the bugs is total crap. EVERY person that I have talked to in the community I play in has seen at least some of the bugs. I have personally seen many. Unless the play testers spent less than 20 minutes playing, they MUST have seen some of the bugs. So for anyone that is defending that answer, ask yourself if you've seen ANY of the bugs. If you answer "no", you are either lying to yourself or have some pretty weak powers of observation.

                          OMFG?

EDIT: Don't they have even a small QA team with weird/rare setups to find hardware/software incompatabilites? Having an identical testing environment for finding and eliminating bugs innate to the game code is reasonable but you need to test for conflicts.

There is a differance between bashing testers for not being able to reproduce bugs and not noticing them at all. I can understand that the name tag bug is very hard to reproduce, but not noticing that the SF crashes when you fire the TOW or that some vital sounds dissappear seem to point to a lack of competence. And then we have the whole UI issues. I bet that they've forgotten to have testers search for servers and use different filters or maybe just plain ignored it.

Except of course for some of the posters in this thread who haven't found any of the major ones. Personally, the screenshot one is all I've seen/found/noticed after 8+ hours of play.
