Yeah G36E isn't an assault rifle, but since the patch I like the G3 better than the F2000, it kills so much faster.

I might be ignorant, but how is it not? It seems full sized to me. Technically the whole G36 family are assault rifles, aren't they? Even with an ammo drum or a shortened barrel-- technically a carbine is an assault rifle. Just means a compact one..

Either way the game counts it as one. The SCAR-L and H are definitely assault rifles, and I've always considered the M4 as one. Not so much the AKS-74u, even though it does still fire off the 7.62 round. Point in mind: Carbines are ARs.

As just an assault rifle I like the G3 the best, but as a whole kit I prefer the F2000 simple because the flashbangs are quite effective and the gun really isn't that bad.

I know the rifle is an assault rifle, I wasn't very clear sorry. I meant "The G36E isn't a rifle used by the assault class." I had the wrong mind-set when I went in to the thread. I read "What is your favorite assault rifle?" as "Which rifle do you like best for the assault class." My bad, I didn't realize we were talking about just guns, I thought it was for assault class in general.

G36E, i dunno about after the patch. My Patch 1.2 is still being 'patched' into the BF2 file, so i'm still waiting, so it possibly could be the L85 or the G3 instead after the patch.

I'm still going with AK47 (firepower over accuracy) but G3 is a close second. G3's new acc is nice but still limited by the small mag.

...wrong. The Ak-74u, or su, fires a 5.45x39mm Rifle Cartridge (Which makes it a rifle).

Eh, I said I could be ignorant entering the theories, at least I admitted that. I know how to research, but how serious and time-consuming of a topic is this really. Thanks for the info though, for some reason I could have sworn the AKS-74U was 7.62.. Hmm.

Call me crazy (i'm sure some of you will) but I still have a warm place in my heart for the M-16A2. I always had great luck with it especially at medium to longer ranges on single shot. At short range it was not as effective as some of the others but if I could get a slight jump on a bad guy I could get more than one three round burst into someone and kill them very quickly.

The AK is not at shorter ranges for me and the F2000 is nice all around but not stellar IMO in any specific category.

I love the M16, but I think the G36E has completely overshadowed it sadly.. I love the look and feel and sound of the M16, but as much as I try to compare the two, there just isn't any room left to compete. Hands down, the G36E is much better, and probably shouldn't be for accuracy.
