    R.I.P. Blackhawk - 2/14/2006

The days of Blackhawk squads are officially over. I've used the guns on a couple of Mashtuur rounds and it is 100% useless now. I like how EA nerfs the problem instead of buffing the counterpart (MEC's chopper). With the lower Heli health and buffed AA it would still be a great challenge keeping a BH squad in the air. Oh well, another part of the game I enjoyed is gone. Any thoughts?

I think that after thier last failure at improoving AA they rediced hitpoints as a safety measure, and it hasn't worked out all that well.

In Mashtuur City the BH is still a force to be dealth with. You can't use the AA on top of the buildings unless you have a lock...

black hawk is a transport helicopter, not a flying gunship, i think its quite ok this way.

I haven't tried them yet but I completely agree; it would have been much nicer to enhance the effectiveness of the MEC/Chinese transport's guns than ruin the Black Hawk's mini-guns. With a full crew, the BH is supposed to be feared and playing on the ground, I always thought it was great to hear the Black Hawk coming and to know you were in trouble.

Fear is such an under-rated part of what makes a game like this so enjoyable. If you can play without fearing anyone or anything, it gets boring very quickly.

Its not gone. You can still do some Blackhawk ownage...

                But guess what....

                It now requires................TEAMWORK.

No longer can 1 pilot and 2 gunners own Mashtuur. You'll need a full squad in that sucker. 1 resupply, and 2 medics as pilot/gunners, then 3-4 mechanics in the back wrenching to keep it in the air. No more n00bs jumping in the chopper to get the points, becuase if its not filled with engineers in the back, its gonna get shot down.

Are you serious black hawks are meant to be an air support its not just for transport. I think they weakened the guns and armor way too much. Two hits from a LAV and the bh is going down. Not to mention the guns are so weak you have a better chance of shooting someone when your not in the gunner seat. Oh well I guess its the price you pay when you try to "better" a game.

And goodluck trying to get a whole "team" to actually know what they are supposed to do in a blackhawk. Yes, it is still possible but its probably easier to win the lottery than to find a team who knows what they are doing. Most people just jump in, try to shoot one person, the jump out and leave the pilot and maybe one gunner.

No, the guns are ruined. They are now equally effective as the MEC helis guns which are ... ineffective.

Last night while playing MEC the BH was circling around hotel. One of the gunners was shooting at me and all I had to do was dance around slightly and I didn't even get hit once. It seems EA took off the "area of effect" explosive part of the rounds and lowered the fire rate slightly. Go hop in the gunners seat and see how much harder it is to kill infantry. I guess both helis will have to turn into C4 droppers now.

Wtf what kind of servers are you playing on? How could anyone rack up points in a half empty blackhawk ? All you have to do is hop in a vodnnik, was it a server full of privates?

That sounds like a serious misallocation of team resources, soldier. You'll have no flags after 5 minutes.... but one KICKASS chopper. :|:

i have just come from mash city, and was in the BH (flying) with 2 others and she got me 60 odd points before it was brought down.

though the mini guns are really potent in reality, to bring them back down towards the other transport choppers is a good move. it just takes a bit more awarness. i also tried on the guns earlier and noticeed next to no difference in the time it took to take down a grunt. racked up 19 kills before the pilot crashed it into a tree.

so overall i think that the BH balances are respective to that of the other transport choppers but can still be used efficently enough to be used as a Gunship.

You've obviosly never flown with me then! LOL. Losing flags? then stop shooting and fly over to base, all 5 guys jump out, flag is capped in like 3 seconds, get back in and go to next base.

Its hard to do that on servers with a bunch of pubs that don't know what you are doing usually. It helps to have a bunch of people on teamspeak with you. Oh, there's that word again......team

The BH has required teamwork since 1.03 now it requires luck as well and a hope that the other team isnt using any AA or your teams snipers are covering AA...face it EA/DICE overcompensated to please the lil kiddie whiners...
