The important aspect of the weapon is the TTK (time to kill)

A very basic measure of this is the time it takes for the gun to deal enough damage to any one body part given its damage and rate of fire. If you take a more complex look at the situation you can factor in recoil either as a realtive time to wait between bullets or simply as a chance of missing at full auto to work out averages of which guns TTK is higher.

At the end of the day you cannot make your gun fire quicker or make the bullets better, theres a ceiling on the skill level before you're simply limited by the guns stats. The game naturaly has some fighter classes and some support classes, to balance the issue the support classes have less powerful weapons to balance the fact they can heal, resupply etc.

I dont care how good you are, if you pitt a noob tuber against a AT guy with an MP5 the noob tuber has a massive advantage in a 1v1 fight.

Each weapon does tend to have its better scenarios though, I'd much prefer to have a shotgun in the bowels of the Iron gator, on the staircase pushing up or down than any sub machine gun.

Well, now that I have over 135 hours of play time (check for SQUiB~962) we can resume out little dispute. You were looking at my old account that had an incorrect e-mail address so I created a new one.

The weapon balance isn't that great at the moment (although the kit balance is pretty good). The G36E and G36C are a bit too good. The snipers (except the M24), the LMGs, the L85A1 and the G3 aren't quite good enough. None of the weapons are useless and I've seen plenty of people use them effectively but I've never seen anyone use those weapons as well as I've seen all the others used.

Well 135 hours and 16,000 point is definitely better than 36 minutes and 49 points. Anyway, bottom line is it's all about personal preference. Just because I don't play sniper that often doesn't mean that for some people isn't the best kit in the world. Even the weapons. True, there are some that are underpowered, but the overall value of that specific kit makes it up for it. From the posts above I could tell that there are people that like even the smg's , especially the mp7, and would rather have that than the jackhammer. It's all personal preference, like cars, women...Just because you like skinny girls doesn't mean that...LOL... OK I'll stop right there.

yeah, like how everyone hates the anit-tank default gun for MEC, just shoot from crouched or prone and in short bursts, its pretty powerful...

Well, it's better than the Type 85 (chinese SMG, which looks like a WWII weapon), and the MP5, it's better than the MP5 cause it holds more ammo.

i am planning to make a battlecorder file about how every weapon can own if you use it right.

So far I have two down, one in Karkand and one in Kubra dam
Karkand: outsniping sniper with MP7 and getting 6 kills before dying. Mp7, being the most accurate SMG at this point, is VERY mobile. if you are walking around and occasionally poping shoots into a stationary sniper, chance is you will win.
PKM, not much can say about this gun, just rush
M95: great for medium range and covering a flag (I think i got 20 something kill on Kubra with that thing)
G36E: all the G36 series requires precision. You are not meant to go face to face with the eastern bloc weapons such as AK or PKM, you are meant to use stealth and kill with precision.

In summary: AK47, G3, AK101, PKM, are meant for hardcore rush type of guy, and G36 series is great for the more tactical players.

I agree, the MP7 is much underestimated by BF2 community. But then again, supposedly it's gonna be nerfed for the 1.2 patch, but then again, they said they're gonna give it a 40 round mag, so it kinda balances out. M95, that is just underrated, it's a very good sniper rifle, people just are too ignorant to try it for themselves. THe pKM, everybody already knows about (no offense to u of course:) ). ANd the G36 series, they are always very tactical in BF2 i guess. THey sacrifice power for accuracy. RIght now, the G36E is the most hyped weapon.

How can anyone say the SMG is useful...I mean at a range of 10 feet which is spitting distance....you can either A...unload...and maybe kill the guy if the random bullet deviation god is nice to you or...B....fire a few shots at a time with the same results as option A....

Most people agree that the SMG's are useless, (compared to ther weapons), at range, and agree, (for the most part), that they can be useful at close ranges.

My argument to that one is that a shotgun in the face is more effective at close range, so why even bother with the SMG?

Hence the savior for the AT kit, the DAO. Anyways, the MP7 ain't too bad if u look at it, more accurate, and more powerful than the other sub-mg, and it has more range than the shottys. The other SMGs just suck.

I am a buff of AA, and that is more realistic and HARDER then BF2 will ever be. I use my AA tactics on BF2.

Do I get the insane amount of kills that I do in AA in BF2? Nope!

Every single damn assault rifle is in-accurate to the brim. Full auto, single shot, or burst, 75% of ALL fired rounds will twist around and miss the target.

Let's take the M4, for example (AA). I pop on auto, bring up my iron sights, start firing. I pound 2-3 round bursts, very precise, very controlled. I get my kill.

In BF2 however, that's a different story. I do the same thing, but, NO KILL! My rounds don't even LAND! I then notice that they're hitting the wall behind him, signaling to me that it has SPREAD.

HELLO DICE! NO FIREARM IN EXISTANCE (Besides the shotty) HAS SPREAD! ALL ROUNDS THAT EXIT THE BARREL GO STRAIGHT!

Sure, you may counter with the natural forces forcing upon the round, but those never come into consideration during any game.
