the LMG's aren't a joke. you need to burst them... which i am sure you know... but i almost always win if its a fight anywhere from 0-50m. even though it is unaccurate, you will eventually hit 3 shots on them if you burst it (like 5 seconds for far away, and near instant anywhere within 0-20m)
I disagree. Don't you reach max. deviation with LMGs after only three or four bullets? It's more effective to prone, ironsight and then spray constantly. Puts people under more pressure too, the psychological effect is handy.
Lol, they don't care if they die. They will run out there and shoot back no matter what. It is a game and no one cares if they die or not. Bursts is way better.
If realising that dropping to prone to use a LMG, or getting close to use a shotgun is anything but obvious to anyone, then clearly they are a few IQ points short of a dozen.
Ever use the MG36? That thing is deadly accurate at medium/close ranges kneeling, no reason to take the extra time to prone.

So, I can disparage the SMG to my heart's content, which was the point of my post. :p
Even the SMG's are not so bad, they have high rate of fire and fast reload time, quite nice for close range combat. The point of the thread is the weapons as a crucial part of the whole kit, not only as individual weapons. Of course you can't attack tank or a light armor vehicle with just a knife or pistol even though I've killed the gunner on a vodnik with a pistol once. Maybe you can't kill a sniper with your smg or shotgun if he/she is too far away, but you can bet you can do that with your SRAW or ERYX.
its all about learning how to shoot the different guns, LMGs in burts, m16 long range in single shot...etc.. learning the different kits will make you better overall.
Every single weapon in the game is only as good as the skill level of the player that's using it. Once you learn to master it, every weapon is deadly. I've realized that the weapons that I thought are weak and lousy weren't so bad after spending 10 hours of online playing with them.
The above said is even more true about the different kits in general, and every kit has it's own advantages. Just because someone is very good at playing support or medic, doesn't mean that the engineer, or the sniper kit is useless, for example. It only means that that person choose that specific kit at the begining due to maybe personal preference towards certain weapon, and in time he/she became expert in using it, opposed to using the other kits/weapons.
The only thing that's true about some weapons being "better" than other is that certain weapons have a better lerning curve and it's easier and quicker to learn to master it.
Yea, but some weapons are definitely better than others - regardless of the skill level of the shooter.
You'll never find a situation where the MP5 is better than the AK-101, for example.
well i been trying to master m95 sice i unlocked it(been using all the time since)
and after hour after hour of trying differnt ways of hiting my target and some good old fasion determination im finaly able to hit infantary from a variety of distance, and hiting them on the run at full sprint ect.
when i finish 100hours and get me expert sniper badge i will try and master a new weapon.
i prefer to do it this way,rather than chosing unlock after unlock and trying all the diffent guns at once.
i have 3 unlocks that are unused and will keep them from sniper unlock in 1.2

actually, BF2's weapons are VERY diverse. Tokenbrit, it's certainly more diverse than CS, and probably the only game that has more diverse firearms are futuristic games like UT
SMG, how to use them? They are great for run and gun because of their insane firerate..
and Yes, G36E is superior in every bit comparing to M16, possibly the only two guns in game where one is the copy of another and is clearly better.
