You talk about real life experiences in the military. In real life you can't patch your enemies. You have to adapt. It's a good point no?

I'm not nearly as much of your enemy in this thread as you might think. My overall sentiment though, is just to deal with the game as it is. And not classify people as whores of this or that type. Just get some flags and do your thing.
Ok fair points dude.Has been taken on board.
PoweredBySoy some very good points I totally agree with.
I don't mind if they have amazing pilots in the next patch that actually do use terrain to their advantage and what not obviously thaat's skill and if they can own in next patch while nerfed then fair play to them.As it is now anyone can own in a chopper.

      4. There are more Americans that would die for thier country, only as thiey're brainwashed from such a early age (sing anthem at school).
First of all singing the national anthem isn't brainwashing, its showing respect. Second, even if it was, you don't have to sing it anyways...and singing an anthem doesn't make you want to go join the military.

Helicopter armor. Nerf it, and nerf it good. There has been countless times where I have put at least 2 tank shells into a chopper, only to have him just fly off to the nearest helicopter pad to repair and rearm. So, basically, helicopters have pretty much the same armor as a tank, 3 times the firepower, and lets not forget it's ability to FLY AROUND THE MAP AT HIGH SPEED.
Umm no...two tank shells kills a chopper, I would know, even when im slightly damaged, one tank shell kills me now...so thats a useless point...

Stationary AA is broken. There's no getting around that, despite your claims of people having no skill. Firing with a solid lock and no flares still almost always results in the missiles taking an erratic path - sometimes even locking on to a friendly target. This happens at a target well within range and not performing any evasive manuevering. Plain and simple, the missiles are just dumb.
Useless against JETS, but against choppers its effective if you know how to use it...honestly. Besides, you can't honestly expect that something that you hop into it auto locks for you and you left click twice to ALWAYS hit and kill the target...

And now due to all you babies, from what Ive heard, the AA is always going to hit aircraft no matter what...at least choppers...

8 missiles. A very decent change, although I doubt this will affect a talented pilots kill potential. It only takes a few missiles to demolish a tank, which is fine. This change will just demand better aim from the pilot.
As a chopper pilot I would know this....you are plain wrong. 6 missiles to the front of a tank kills it...thats only two to spare so if you aren't a total expert then its going to be total luck to kill a tank with one set of rockets...

And for all you people that say flying choppers is so easy...well its not. I am a skilled chopper pilot and I always challenge people to get a 1:4 ratio of what I got when they say flying choppers is so easy. What happens every time is they get in...they turn over and explode....and then they get in...go twenty feet and crash.

Even the ones with a bit of skill can't actually kill anything with thier rockets as they have no idea of how to line up the missiles or how to hover or how to aim....

And they can't use the TV missile if thier life depended on it....

And o yeah...they can't land worth crap either...most of them come in too fast and explode or overshoot the pad and hit at tree.

Honestly, any of you who say that the chopper is a noob toy have either

A: never tried flying it/actually getting kills with it...
      or
B: Are sick of getting owned with people that actually have skill.

And fyi I WOULD play a sim if it was actually fun to just run around in the air and not kill anything....

Exactly. Which is the way it should be. If I pilot is smart enough to fly defensively and take out it's immediate threats, I have no problem with it owning me. The problem with pre-1.2 is that it has no threats from the ground.
Im sorry, but if you really believe there are no ground threats to a chopper...well ur just a nub.

EDIT: I use terrain to my advantage.

And btw you anti chopper guys still have yet to point out a valid reason why choppers are being nerfed...

Not true I hit lots of times choppers with a tank shell and they don´t explode...it depends where you hit helos...and as they have the manoverability edge normally we hit them on the front where the damage can´t kill it.

Not true, yesterday I fired AA against a chopper hovering a flag and one missile hits and another swerves away...helo didn´t move and didn´t use flares...that proves there is something wrong with AA because there was nothing logical why the second missile missed.

Agreed...at least I can take down a chopper...but planes no.

The problem with a chopper or plane, is that it can take out the fun of a game because in a hand of an expert will make it impossible to move around a map...where an expert infantryman or armour will only unbalance a little the gameplay.

P.S. - I am not against a good chopper player, I see things that you do that are amazing...It is just when I am playing against that kind of pilot there is little thing I can do, wheras agains a Tank or infantary there is allways a tactic that will help me improve my odds.

Re: bunny hoppers and helo pilots

My thing is here.... if infantry is having such a crappy time on the ground because they are getting raped.... where are their planes and other choppers? They are supposed to be keeping the choppers in check.

If any of you all watch the short video on EA's site before bf2 came out called "the loop" you'd know what I mean. It showed a cycle if you will, of what ate what. Infantry ate Infantry, hummers ate infantry, tanks ate hummers, and choppers ate tanks, airplanes ate choppers. That was the original way that it was supposed to work out. The problem is that in a public server, you RARELY have fair teams, which makes the whole game seem very UNFAIR. Which it very well might be, but not because the actual game is flawed.

To those posting in defense of pre-1.2 helicopters, I'm sorry, but you're full of sh*t. If you don't see the glaring imbalance with the current aircraft/AA system, then you're blind and naive. Especially on maps like Oman and Wake, where it's pretty much a free-for-all turkey shoot for aircraft pilots.
AA against jets are ridiculous. You will very rarely hit anything. Against helos it's much to inconsistent but it is somewhat effective. If it wasn't effective at alla then you wouldn't even care about killing people in AA emplacements.

Why should only aircraft be shot down by a built in aimbot? How fair is that? I would like to see AA vehicles on more maps with cannons that totally rip aircraft apart. There should also be some sort of marking of how much to aim in front of targets.

It is broken because it will even miss a stationary target from a short distance. I can't see why it should hit under any circumstance though. If that is the case in the future patch the helos shoul all get FLIR and autoaim on the main cannon. Let's see how happy the inf dudes are with autoaim employed against them.

Here you are totally mistaken. An actual hit from an APFSDS will leave you with three (maybe four) bars of armor left. The helo catches fire below 2.5 bars of armour so you'll only need about one second of fore with a .50 to finish it off.

When you have hit the helo with two rounds you haven't actually hit it twice. It's the netcode that fools you. You get an explosion on the helo but it doesn't actually count.

If you don't believe me get a friend sit in a helo and let him shoot you with a MBT see how much health you have left.

This won't affect any regular pilots. They can't hit infantry with 14 FFAR's and won't hit any with 8. They can also only destroy about one tank per 14 FFAR's. For the more accurate pilots this change will mean that you can't kill two tanks without reloading unless they change the damage. If they do that I'm all for it.

I don't really care about the FFAR's they are sort of a last ditch weapon or used to conserve hellfires.

I seriously think the only thing going through pilots minds right now is where the closest tank to destroy is. Like I said, it's a free for all. The main threat to pilots right now is *gasp*... other helicopters.
You don't think we do that allready? Unless you know exactly which AA is locking on to you you are going to have a problem. You need to fly more before you start speculating about what goes through other peoples minds.

Re: bunny hoppers and helo pilots

It seems as though the static AA gun would be called:

"A simulation of my home office".

                        Why is that?

You seat in a turning chair, pushing some buttons while looking through a screen.
So now, all you'll need to do in ordered to be "skilled" as an AA operator will be - seat and press the button.

I personly don't need a simulator of a home office. I use mine to simulate and play in virtual worlds, not a virtual battlefield with a bunch of little small offices in the form of AA guns.

My only question is - who would serve the coffee?

Well, pre-1.2, the stationary AA emplacements ARE ignored. By both infantry and airpower. Infantry know they're useless, the the only reason a plane would strafe an AA launcher is to maybe get a free kill by someone dumb enough to be in one.

Yes, I would love to see more mobile (and more effective) AA in this game - based off of a flak gun design.

Well, I think you're taking the general critisism towards the AA a little too far. Nobody is asking for a gauranteed hit when firing AA missiles. Nobody is saying that one should be able to hop into an AA site, fire off two quick missiles for the kill, and then hop out. But the pilots, like Alcorr, who argue that the AA works just fine as it is are completely naive.

It doesn't work at all versus planes, and it's extremely inconsistant versus helicopters. Meaning, the missile doesn't track correctly when it should.

Well, I don't know what else to say. Even just last night I put two tank rounds into a helicopter and it lived.... in which very shortly afterwards he did a single strafing run and turned my tank to dust.

I realize Battlefield has always had problems with netcode, but these are very much confirmed hits as far as I can tell.

No, I really don't. On maps like Oman, Wake, Zatar and Daqing, I constantly see aircraft fly around freely, unchallenged except only by other aircraft.

It seems to me that Dice is having problems balancing the AA in terms of both planes and helicopters. Given a planes extreme speed, they have to make the AA missiles extremely fast and effecient (as in 1.2) in order to make them effective. This doesn't seem to balance well with the helicopters (espeically the poor transports now). It has always been my opinion that planes don't fit in with Battlefield. The maps are too small, and the planes are too fast, and that makes them seem out of place for what this game is trying to reproduce. Just get rid of the planes, and balance the AA in regards to helicopters and we're golden. .... like that would ever happen.

^ ^ LOL. Let me translate that.

''Im going to attempt to insult you now because you keep killing me, I need to make excuses as to why this is, as I cant accept the reality of that Im not actually good at the game''

What will make me laugh, is that the 'bunnyhoppers', the 'dolphin divers', the 'heli whores', the 'plane whores' and the noobtube players will still carry on killing you. They only use them because they can.

What will you do then? Ask for the devs to nerf players will a higher kills to deaths?

As for the pro American, attempting to insult the British by generically claiming that we all drink cups of tea (like thats even a good insult). I have 2 points to make on this matter.
                                1. Is that you like the anti-bunnys, seem incapable of looking at your own faults and instead blame others for what is in fact your own incompitence.
                                2. If it is to be insulting that we drink tea, then would'nt it be fair, and proven that your own country in fact has a desperate problem with eating cheeseburgers?

Again, I feel my self repeating this, I dont intend to be drawn into an petty arguement, I dont actually intend to be rude to anyone, however I dont like people insulting me (I am British aswell), and I dont like dishonesty (incapablity to understand what the 'real' problems are), this is infact the reason why the world we live in today is so f*cking messed up.
