Two quick questions; do I just cancel the image-making process when it's grabbed a few megs? And that will work?
Yes just cancel it and it will say erase the data we already created and you say no. Thats all.

I have the DVD version of BF2 perhaps that's the problem?

Anyone else know where I could simply download a mini image for BF2? Then I can mount it using Daemon tools.
        TY
don't use that one. Use this:

unzip, mount the file with daemon tools and you're set.

make sure you replace that ***** file with the real .exe

Remember two things, one its really easy to get a virus from a ***** cracked exe file and two, always backup your original games .exe file (I normally rename mine .bak, just like the movie files). Generally I try to avoid them, but when your going travelling nothing eats up battery life on your Notebook then the graphics processor and the CD/DVD Rom, and at home on my PC I just hate switching out CDs

and if it even SEES a copy of Alcohol on your computer
                  BF2 will not run!!
if even you use the CD#1 or DVD
there are instructions at Alcohol Website to remedy this
and as I have 4 legal copies at home
(for each of 4 LAN systems)
I only bought 1 copy of Alcohol (the license is only 1 use of program - B*&tards!!!!)
so I have older FREE (yes - legal free) copy of Daemon tools which I use for the other 3 machines

                  never tried the mini-image route
HD are so cheap these days

                  maybe next time
Rubbish i run bf2 as an image with alcohol no problems at all
BUT F.E.A.R well that game will not as it has the detector.

You mean you can't create a mini-image by aborting the iso creation process? Someone will probably find another way.

blimey, this still works for bf2 at least....I was worried that id be picked up by PB or something but after months of firing up bf2 and waiting for the disk to spin (USB drive on my desk) before I could play, I thought id try it yesterday.

Making the image in Alcohol was easy, cancelled it at about 80MB and it works great. Have set up Daemon to automount it to drive X on start and made a shortcut next to my bf2 shortcut so its just click daemon, click bf2 and game on!

Now all i need is a script to automatically remove all the .addServerHistory lines from general.con each boot and the jobs a goodun.

                              cancelled it at about 80MB
Made it bigger than you have too. I just checked the size of the image I made and it is only 1.97 mb (that's 1.97 not 197 ) and have been using it for about 6 months without any problems whatsoever.

lol that is small.....I was following the instructions on page 1 and expecting some errors. Didnt happen, just wound its way up so I thought I better cancel anyway- 80MB is where it stopped at.

I might have another go now..thx.
