You have to be vey careful with this approach
BF2 has a built in detector
it scans yor reistry
and if it even SEES a copy of Alcohol on your computer
BF2 will not run!!
if even you use the CD#1 or DVD
there are instructions at Alcohol Website to remedy this
and as I have 4 legal copies at home
(for each of 4 LAN systems)
I only bought 1 copy of Alcohol (the license is only 1 use of program - B*&tards!!!!)
so I have older FREE (yes - legal free) copy of Daemon tools which I use for the other 3 machines

never tried the mini-image route
HD are so cheap these days

That way has worked for me and BF2 has never had a problem with it. I believe that people encountering the problem are trying to run the image with alcohol not DAEMON. However if something does mess up you can always go back to using the disk. Also I have done it many times using the exact steps listed above and no problems.

Yeah there is no PB problem...companies just do it so you don't take your friends game and do this.

Well, I have one worry : Performance impact. Daemon is another process and possibly takes up more by directly emulating and connecting itself with your OS by tricking it into thinking you have an extra drive. I'm using this because my BF2 normally won't start within 2 minutes with the CD for some reason. It just stays at the Splash Screen. How much frames per second or loading time will this decrease/increase? I noticed with Daemon on my CS:S benchmark, there wasn't much of a decrease (I couldn't tell. 0 At least, 3 at most).
