Same problem here with the Audigy 2. Map loads, I go to select a squad and the mouse freezes for a second. Then some pops and crackles from the speaker and then nothing. Switching between hardware and software restores the sound but then it goes away again when I join a server. I had problems for a couple of hours last night then it worked fine for a couple of hours and I thought the problem had gone away. Then I switched to another server and it was back.

Could someone confirm my theory by trying the game in single player mode or creating a LAN game and running around to see if they can reproduce the issue under those circumstances?

Also, search for an unranked server without punkbuster and join, see if it happens there as well, then post your results.

Done all that only time I can get my sound in stuff up is if punkbuster is loaded.

Hi fellas

Got the exact same problem as you are all stating here last night. Played two rounds and at the end of the 3rd round the sound went utterly crazy. This has only seemed to happen since the punkbuster update a few days ago. Before this the game played fine no sound issues.

The sound went absolutely crazy, it was a screech with popping and random sounds. It was as if my PC was bastard possessed.

I have an audigy 4 and as other posters here thought the card was shagged, but thankfully all other games are fine. Glad to see I'm not alone here, and hope a workaround is sorted soon. Anyone need me to add this to a PB forum or something , let me know.

Even with the sound blaster live value , I get a brief sound skip within the first 10 seconds of the game. Wondering if this is glitched only when EAX is being used?

Hopefully they fix this cause it's just not worth playing with that sound. Now suicide bombers got the upper hand bigtime on my fun machine. Tank.

Roman, I can confirm this. I can join an empty server or one that has not enough players for the round to start and it will never happen no matter how long I stay there.

Only happens during that brief freeze when PB takes the SS when a new map loads.

I'm gonna suggest for everyone to email Punkbuster with their problems at research@evenbalance.com . They did get back to me yesterday like I posted before but I couldn't reproduce the damn problem when I was chatting with them. Happened again as soon as we finished lol. I have a feeling they think I'm crazy but if enough people email them about this I hope they will take it seriously. SO GO AND EMAIL THEM!!!!!!!!!

I just emailed them, but if EA isn't aware of this and it's just an isolated incident of a few... I wonder if they are even gonna care. Well more than a few but you would think something would be done immediately.

Well I just submitted a ticket through EA's website. Just go to battlefield2.com and click on support. I think you have to use the search function before it will let you submit a ticket. After you hit search there's a new tab "ASK A QUESTION" in upper right corner.

Flood them with emails guys ;p

Sending an email to research isn't going to do the trick. Instead, go to the following URL and create a troubleticket. This is the best way next to MasterChief's actually being in a server with an Even Balance support guy.

I am getting this too, I thought something was wrong on my end but seeing a thread with all of you having the same issue changes things...

I can also confirm that it does not happen in a singleplayer bot game, or a local server with just me in, only when connecting to another server over the internet it happens.

I don't lose any sounds but I do get that screeching noise for a fraction of a second about 20-30 seconds into a map.
After that I have no problems but the game seems a little sluggish from there on in. Sometimes I will get sound interferences and other anomalies, weird stuff.

Yeah, too bad it didn't happen then LOL. There was something different when he hosted the server, there was no "stutter". I do get it at the beginning of each map on all net servers. It's not a lag spike and I have a 6 meg DSL. I'm sure I've seen people talking about it and saying it's when Punkbuster takes a SS. Right, I'm not going crazy, am I?

It totally threw me off when it didn't happen on a regular server at first, should have tried it more than once .

Last update I'm aware of was on 1/28/06. Right after that we started having problems.

EDIT:
Scratch that, they do show updates on 2/1/06. Maybe that's the reason the problem was on and off for me yesterday. Hmmm, last update 10PM....that's midnight my time, just about when I logged off. I guess I can always hope it's fixed.

first the modem-sounds, then i loose sound completely.
Happend for the first time on 31st of january.
Single player is ok.

...or that may just be like LAN-settings i guess.

Just to say I get the pop in the first 10 seconds then its fine for a bit. Will check to see if it descends into stupidness later. I have noticed a lot of users here with the problem have SLI ASUS mobos. Could that be something to do with it?
