SOUND PROBLEMS starting on Jan 31st - Punkbuster possible reason??????

Guys, I've emailed back and forth with a guy from punkbuster. He said he'll give me an IP of a server they run so I can connect and we can play around and try to troubleshoot. Problem is, that happens only on my home machine and I spend most of the day at the office. If someone is interested in working with Punkbuster to try to resolve this please PM me and I'll give you his email. I won't post it here for obvious reasons.

I posted here, creative, and any other forum I could find. Everyone is looking at me like I am nuts. Glad to see this is not an isolated issue.
I didn't realize how many problems there are with these soundblaster cards and BF2 specifically. If you go on their forums, it seems almost half the people who have bought cards are having issues. Creative claims it's only a small group but that's not how it looks on their fourms...

I thought it had to do something with the creative drivers. Why would punkbuster mess with the sound of a game?

Yes very wide spread problem. not a thing we can do till punkbuster look in to it trust me I have tried every different driver and setting out there.
removed my Sound Blaster Audigy ZS2. running on board sound in software mode only way I could fix. but the game just sounds bad now, and has a lot of back ground noise.

I have the same issue with a Audigy 4....

I wish they would tell us when they change stuff. I have spent two hours trying to troubleshoot this, and it is probably some jack ass programming from punkbuster.

this started happening to me last night. I had played bf2 for about an hour with no problems. Turned my computer off, grabbed some food, then loaded it up.

The sound was fine for the first 5 secs, would then go all distorted and stopped working. I haven't installed/uninstalled/changed anything between it working fine and not....

i have an audigy 1, so i'll try reinstalling drivers tonight.

Yup I just posted in general discussion, hopefully someone moves it over. Last night my audigy 4 just started messing up. I played again tonight same thing, I was so pi$$ed. Figured the card died on me but I'm seeing more and more people complain. Punkbuster released a new patch late last night early morning which I think is messing up people who are using EAX. I had to resort to the sb live value till this is all fixed.

Well I'm playing on a server with punkbuster guy right now. So far it's not happening but he's loading a different server.

Guys, tell me if you;re still having this problem. I tried few servers and while I still get the stutter and a beep it's works OK after it.

It's a god damn conspiracy. It was working when I was chatting with Punkbuster guy but as soon as he left and I relogged to the same server it's the same as before - stutter, beeeep no sound or ear piercing noise.

I find after the sound issue that the whole game generally laggs. I was getting into flying but now its crazy.....

Every now and then you get really large lagg spikes, most of the time its bumping at best.

Anyone else have this?

this is what im getting....walkie talkie (interference sound) during map loading for 2 secs...then once the map loads its on and off for the first 30 or so seconds then after that its gone....

I'm having the same problem. Been working fine for months and just started having the problem last night. I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum.

I got it to work few times in software mode (hardware seems to work sometimes too but there's either something wrong with it or I just got used to software mode, ie I can't hear nade explosions and hear plane only when it's right above me - I don't think it should be that way). I still get the freeze and beep but it works after that. I haven't tried it that many times cause I wanted to play a bit after it finally worked OK. I think it's just a luck thing. It either gets messed up or not. Not a good thing.

Could someone confirm my theory by trying the game in single player mode or creating a LAN game and running around to see if they can reproduce the issue under those circumstances?

Also, search for an unranked server without punkbuster and join, see if it happens there as well, then post your results.
