I find it strange when I'm playing with people who I know are female, are using VoIP, but have a buff male body.

Even stranger is when they are commanding, and they have the tough "Enemy infantry spotted" commander voice.

The problem is that the game wasn't really designed to allow for this feature. Characters are either "heavy" (armoured - assault, AT, support) or "light" (unarmoured - medic, sniper, engineer, spec ops).

Interesting point about the voice...

EA/Dice would have to do the entire suite of voice overs in a female version for all languages, class specific phrases, and commander.

Not that I don't think they should (they should in this day and age), just that it wouldn't be a small undertaking...

Thats not really a fair statement considering this game doesn't really take much from realism....

I think BF2 ignored the *real* middle-eastern conflict brewing just beneath the surface. Enough with the US and English fighting wars in the desert- where are the IDF? If you've got the Israelis you've got to have women mixing up right there beside the men. So lets have it- '56, 1968, 1973, '82 and 20XX...

I think that adjusting the gender/race of your character would add enough to the fun factor in BF2 to make up for any lost realism. Yeah, there might be an increase in corpse violation, taunts, etc., but I don't think it would be enough to seriously impair gameplay. If girls are willing to put up with the occasional crap that comes with being a female on the internet, then let there be female characters.

I think it would be fun to be able to customize your character in the game a little anyway.

maybe bf -whatever future-themed game will have female models/skins, as perhaps in the future we may be past this whole gender issue in regard to combat.....

Can anyone honestly tell me how many female Marines you have seen on the frontline? I personally have seen a grand total of one, and that was in a movie. Im not trying to be sexist, just realistic.

i havent seen the frontline, have you? im not suggesting u havent, i just curious, as i just wouldnt assume you have, even though your post suggests you may or may not have...

I wish more girls played bf2, I only had a couple of rounds where girls were playing and they were good, and not shy about voip so it was a good time

In the U.S. military, yes. Females are allowed in the military, but are generally restricted to positions away from the front lines.

IMO, females should be allowed to do any job which they are physically capable of performing and willing to do. If a woman is as tough as her male counterparts, and is willing to go with them to fight, there's not really any good reason for her not too.

I'd also point out that females have proven worthy adversaries on the battlefield in the past. During WW2, there were many female russian snipers who proved themselves to be as deadly as their male counterparts. Many got 100+ confirmed kills.

The reason there are no girls is simple. In the future we built female AI computers to tell us when supplie drops, artilary, and UAV's were ready. But it went mad with jelousy and killed off every girl on earth. Everyone is fighting each other now in hopes that a girls magically appear back. But like Treebeard in lord of the rings ... were screwed.
