Re: So how do support players feel?

It would take some doing to make the support class as powerful as the m60 gunner in BF:V ver1.0..... A gun that shoots straight is a good thing, an M60 with no recoil penalties AND a L.A.W on your back is a totally different proposition.

In fact, thats a bloody good example of why balance needs to be tweaked after the community get their hands on a game... Anyone else remember with irritation the whole U.S team toting M60's?

I think it will be great... Support is my most used kti, but for the last couple months, Ive been strictly engi, because it was too damn hard to hit anything consistently.

Good work on this patch Dice.

Because you are not suppost to be assaulting with the LMG's, did you ever stop to think that the "support" class has been giving a gun for "support" duty, and not for "omgwtfinstaproneaccuracyLOL".

Its a teamwork class, moreso then the medic class. Set your gun up while your buddies take the heat from the natives, then greet them with your wall of lead. It doesnt take that long, stop acting like the world ended.

I think its a great change.. and dont be sad, because its more accurate now too, that should sorta compensate your K/D ratio.

they still need to make it to where you can set your LMG on the ledge of a wall or window and gain prone accuracy but you could only swing the LMG around in a fixed field of fire like the 50 on the DPV. ****ing sucks when you can't shoot over a wall like everyone else and you have to find an (exposed) spot to go prone and shoot at bad guys.

I don't think they shoulda upped the support guns at all, they're already good. If u can't hit a guy at 50m with a MG36 when prone and ironsights, than u just suck at aiming. Anyways, the whole thing about supporters not supposed to 'assault'. In THIS game, EVERYBODY assaults, thats cause nobody is SMART enough to defend their bases, or they just want constant action, if one team had a guy who was new to BF2, but played americas army for like ever, then the team that has him would prob win, cause he's the only smart guy to stay back in cover. Anyways, back to the topic, i hope they only adjust the accuracy EVER so slightly, as in adjust the min deviation for all teh LMGs to be reduced by .1. But if they make another M60 BFV situation, i won't be playing BF2 for a while.

The fact you CAN assault doesnt mean that was the idea when the game was made, if that was the case they would have given the medic the name "guy with gun and health", and support "guy with armor and big boomstick"

The game was created around the idea of squad combat, support is suppost to support the squad and pin the enemy down. Not assault, that is why the assault guys are ingame as well.

Not realistic, and not needed. Accuracy will make up for this and support players will hopefully be used appropriately.

ie. Finding a nice spot, laying there, and defending by hosing down the slews of idiots that come your way.

I made like 20 kills doing this by laying in the giant warehouse thingy building at the MEC base in Karkand. Layed down on the balcony and let loose, was awesome. That was the precise moment I fell in love with the PKM! On that note, I'm a bit disappointed that the PKM is even better, because I find it unstoppable right now. I used to bash it, now I worship it. Amen.
Couldn't have said it better. :) The way support is used now is nothing like it should be. After the patch it should be less of an assault kit and more of a 'support' kit. As long as the balance is right it will be a big improvement.

Personally I don't feel that is a let down at all, the prone key is now more realistic, for everyone, either way, the support class was never about going prone even though it provided a good aid, As DP said, the PKM has been described as overpowered in the next patch. I don't see a problem as it won't be a loss to me, Insta - prone never provided me with skill. Either way I'd trade going prone slower for a more accurate gun.

Well now that I see more videos on the patch the prone time is not that much.I guess we just have to wait and see.

EA- release the damn patch!!!! it's not a patch if I don't play it!

Hello everybody, long time reader and first time poster.

Anyways, what urged me to go and register and to post here is because, I too am an avid Support kit player and I would like to give my comments on this thread.

I'm glad they are upping the accuracy of the support rifles, because I noticed that currently, when I try to suppress enemies from a fairly great distance, I usually get killed by their rifles because it's more accurate than mine. The only time that they get killed is, if my squad is fast enough to react to out flank the enemy, before he kills me.

I'm hopping in the new patch, that I will be able to properly suppress enemies with my support rifle. I don't need to kill them immediately, but rather, enemies would be more intimidated with my fire, because they know if they pop out long enough, I would be able to take them down.

I hope I made some sense

Im sorry, but when someone is a meter away, and my cross hair takes up their entire body, and I still miss becuse of the horrible innacuracy, and get maybe one shot in, really sucks.

I play support when Im not sniping, and always thought the accuracy was just horrible when prone, and its impossible to hit anything other wise, which is accurate to the gun type, but when prone, or against a wall, the accuracy should be much higher.
