    getting 100% EFFICIENCY from BF2!!!!!

If you have an ATI x800 or X850 or NViDiA 6600 or 7800 series card with up to 2 cd/dvd roms, up to 2 harddrives with more then 2 case fans you will need a 500Watt power supply. Why barely get by with the bare minimum? Then when you need power for your ram/cpu/gpu you have problems? If you have a 350Watt power supply it’s time to upgrade to a 500Watt PSU, no if ands or buts. If you have retail computers make sure they fit the designated psu bay and the motherboard does not require any special connections other then 12v 4 pin connector and the 20 pin or 24 pin connector from your psu.

. Least face it in the past you could live with 512MB of ram with Win98, then came win2k and you needed 1 gig of ram, now we are using XP which requires 2 gigs of ram in order to multitask in/out of games while win2k can do it with 1 gig. Don’t believe me, try using ctrl+esc out of BF2 and run another program then ctrl-alt-del and see how much ram is being used. This is NONE Debatable. When you have the money, upgrade your ram using the SAME MANUFACTURE, SAME SPEED, SAME STICKS, got it! Now if you are wondering if it's better to get 1 gig stick or 4 256MB stick, get the 1 gig stick. It will reduce latency dramatically. If you have a dual channel MB then get a twin pack. Don't try to buy 2 singles, the manufacture has already tested these sticks to work together correctly.
Here is my opinion of what brands are better:
As far as quality and reliablity is concerned, these are the brands I prefer:
    Kingston > OCZ
    Crucial > Kingston
    Corsair > Crucial
Or look at it like this Corsair > Crucial > Kingston > OCZ

This is just an opinion as you have other sticks out there:
    Geil
    Patriot
    Mushkin
    PNY
    PQI
    TwinMos

. Also, take a moment in asda-walmart and buy a 2-3 cans of air. Use them to remove dirt, dust, etc rom your power supply, heat sinks, fans, motherboard, ram sticks, video card. Check your connections to make sure nothing is losely connected. Make sure that your monitor and computer are unplugged from the wall socket or power strip before you do this.

. If you are able and it's been more then 12 months re-apply Artic Silver 5 on your cpu heat spreader (the metal on top of your cpu) and heat sink

Pleae bare in mind this post cannot guarantee that your computer will perform better with BF2 or perform at all with BF2 do to other factors that are specific to your system. Please keep that in mind.

Make sure you have a good PSU:
There are some good brands out there like Enermax, Silversone, PC Power & Cooling (most expensive but the best), Some of the Antec True Power PSU (they have quality control issues), Forton, Sparkle to namea few.

Here is what to look for:
    Look at the amperage not the wattage: it should read something like this +3.3V @ 30A, +5.0V @ 30A, +12V @ 30A.
    ATX12V Compliant
    Tolerance Regulation: >5% (+3.3, +5, +12) 5% (-5, -12).
    Ripple: >2% (p-p)
    Temperature: 0°-50° C
    Compatibility: ATX12V (2.1)
    Efficiency: > or =70%
Over Current and Over Voltage protection

. Make sure that your HD is defragged, your cd/dvd rom player's eye is clean to read the disk (follow the instructions provided with your CD/DVD player in order to properly clean the eye) and the inside of your computer is free from dust. If you do have some sort of disk error installing BF2 do the following:

    1. uninstall BF2
    2. Defrag Harddrive
    3. Reinstall BF2
    4. Defrag Harddrive again
    5. Defrag Pagefile
    6. Reboot

. Autoruns is a better verison of msconfig inwhich you can disable some files that start up with XP. Please use caution if you don't know google it.

. Also you must defrag your pagefile and move it to either another HD or move it on your current HD.

How the hell did you get to tip #17 all of a sudden? Anyway the whole post is BS, which you plainly point out in your very odd disclaimer. Anyone who meets those requirements will already know everything you said (and the correct forms of what you meant). Sorry to be a prick but really, create a thread and call it that, then give halfassed advice, and follow it up with a 213 word (according to OpenOffice Writer) disclaimer about how it won't make BF2 run at 100% EFFICIENCY etc etc.

BS, BS, BS here's a shovel.

1-3% of the people on TotalBF2 will ever come close to running their computers near 500w. Unless you're running SLI, the chances of you going over 400w is slim. I'm at around 380 right now, and no that doesn't mean that I'd be 20w away from peaking out a 400w psu, because they have max powers at multiples above their steady rate.

The rest of it's more BS, I'm sorry to be so rude and raw but I really feel like I have to warn people from taking this post as serious advice. Sorry man =/

Exactly...giving this sort of sweeping recommendation based on your own personal experience isn't a very good idea.

Just use a PSU calculator to figure out what you need, and make sure it is of good quality.

I have to say some of your recomendations are junk.

BF2 runs efficently on 512MB of ram but if you want better grapics out of it 1GB or ram is better.

As for the PSU thats a load of crap as well. The PSU you need only depends on the hardware you are useing, getting a 500W PSU does not improve the preformance of software.

And actualy you could end up damaging your computer my useing the wrong PSU.

ok this post was for ppl that make custom rig's any one with a 7800gt nows that on the box it says 400watt minimum(fact)so why go with the minimum?
and if ur considering sli then 400 wont cut it.this post was not ment to offend and i apricate ur point of view but really unless uve tested a high end card on a slow psu how do u no that it affects performance i read countless post on these froums with ppl that take 5 mins to verify on amd3500 and above and they use top end cards, this was mearly a post to state a fact to ppl that have or are thinking about building there own custom rig to be aware of some facts regarding psu,and the disclamer was intedended for ppl that think they can do it without experiance(dont want ppl ruining there pc now do we.basacally lets say u have a amd64fx55 2gig ram 2 hd and 2 dvd roms and one or 2 7800gt u must have the power that the system needs,it wont run on fresh air, allthough it may still work extra power cant hurt now can it? but if u buy youre pc from the shop it should be fitted with appropriate gear(psu) how can i write a post claming that somthing will make it better only it might make it better some lower powerd psu are good but some arnt belive me ive seen plenty of motherboards fried because of lame psu now if you willing to spend alot of money on the best gfx and cpu money cant buy are you willing to risk it by using a cheap psu? well im not hence the 213 word posat i made.to call it ******** when u havnt tested it urself is a bit sarcastic to say the least,i have thats why i recomended certain psu and condemed others.and how can telling ppl to defrag and keep there pc clean be BS id like to no?
anyway hope that this makes a bit more sense as this was aimed at ppl that use high end equipment.
also ive spent a few days defraging a 160 hd whitch took 3 days to get 97% but of course defraging is BS

So whats the point in posting it since 95% of the people here probably don't even have that card and those who do already know what power supply they need.

Why get the minimum 400W PSU you say, maybe that's what the motherboard supports or because the card actually doesn't need a higher power to work.

The PSU depends a lot on what your motherboard supports not just your graphics card. You cant just go an put in a 500W PSU because you say so.

BTW try writing in paragraphs because very few people are going to read your above post.

As for RAM and alt+tab switching I can actualy switch programs perfectly fine on 512MB of RAM so i expect someone with 1GB of RAM will have an even easier job switching between programs.

And who in the world needs your (bad) advice about what kind of psu to get after they've purchased:
                            amd64fx55 2gig ram 2 hd and 2 dvd roms and one or 2 7800gt
                            ?
                            Reality check.
