Not too hard is it? Jus know where they r comin from and shoot in front of them if they r comin at u at an angle. ONLY fire missiles if hes retreatin, they dont usually lock on/hit if hes comin directly towards u. If hes smart he will use flares afta he finishes his attack otherwise shoot bout 3-4 missiles at him.

The best way is to man the Essex while you are commanding, if you run scans as fast as they cycle you will rarely be surprised
Plus arty kills count as AA killsm when you sit in the Essex
