Re: Battlefield 2 Booster Packs set for Spring 2006 release.

I play on the official EA servers, so i'm worried about how this will split the community and the official servers.

I don't understand how this will affect the EA servers; is there going to be servers for BF2, SF, booster1 and booster2? do the booster servers have BF2 maps like Sharqi or do they have thier own maps?

I cant imagine having to switch from a booster1 server to a booster2 server just to see the 3 new maps. it would be a whole lot less confusing If they made it 1 big expansion like SF. They need to explain it better, very confusing to me.

oh well, some people will buy this crap, and the rest will play fh2, desert conflict, battlefield apocalypse and many more free downloadable mods like you could with 1942

      i know what i'm doing:)

£5-6? You're doing the conversion wrong, just replace the $ with a £. So they're retailing for $9.99 in the US, which means they'll be £9.99 over here.

Why don't they just individually sell each new map, vehicle, and weapon?

Yes, this does sound like it could become a pain in the rear end. To make it less hassle would be FREE booster packs, everyone could download and there wouldn't be any problems.

I'll buy the stinking booster packs if there's a new medic gun that gives me an edge like the g36e does, but I let it be known that EA can burn in hell. God I wish another publisher had the brains to pick up a gem like DICE.

Something that my mate said yesterday has stuck in my head

"so when are they going to release battlefield 2 dogfighting pack?"

This is seriously a bad argument people, look at all the modders...and all the content they are making....and not earning a cent.

ok right now this has got me worried the 1.12 patch was basicaly just because of the sf expansion. That patch has forced me to play vanilla bf2 on lower settings and if anything has reduced the hole gaming experience for me. Now with there being 2 booster packs does that mean im going to get 2 more patchs that have nothing to do with V:bf2 and they could possibly reduce my gaming experience AGAIN ?. For **** sakes the way things are going im not going to be able to play bf2 unless i buy a new graphics card.

For example say there are a set number of BF2 servers, well now that max number is split between Vanilla and SF, then when these come out it's going to be between Vanilla, SF, Booster1, Booster2.
Yes but why is the number of total servers static? Anyone can rent a server, there's no set limit.

I think I will buy mine at the retailers so that EA/Dice ****ers can lose money. Just like I did with SF. Personally I think they are REALLY ripping people off charging the same price on-line as the retail price. The retail price you are being charged shipping of the product the case,CD/DVD it was made on and other things right? If you buy it on-line you are just buying it directly from them. You just get the software, You have to use your OWN CD/DVD to burn it on and use you OWN case. I rather spend the same amount and get a nice case with the CD/DVD. Correct me if I am wrong. Maybe they have to pay in large amount of money to host servers for people to download from. I do not know. I just smell a ripp off buying it off line and using my own stuff to back it up on.

Oh well, if they chose to split that future expansion into 2 separate 'booster packs', they may as well increase that number and open an 'online unlock store'. We could BUYthere BETTER unlockable guns, IMPROVED vehicles etc - these thing would be far superior to both vanilla and current unlocks and we would be happily charged for every gun, nade and tool that we might want to use. Imagine a one-shot-kill-sniper-rifle-with-a-super-scope for 5,99 or a kevlar vest for a medic to increase Hit Points by 30% for only 4,99, or maybe 5 additional packs of C4 for 3,99?
