Pathetic. Looks like they're just going to try selling what would have been patches.

Yeah, right. Bunch of greedy liars, if what they're doing is the "best" solutions, they should all be fired. Won't fix the game, and they keep asking for money?

The expansion packs in the Battlefield series have new maps, vehicles and weapons. Each Battlefield booster pack will have new but fewer maps, vehicles and weapons. Instead they are sold to a lower price: 9.99 USD. An expansion pack is usually sold at between 19.90 USD and 29.90 USD. Today at least two Battlefield 2 booster packs are planned for spring 2006.

But fewr maps and vehicles...sounds to me like another seperatation just like SF instead of an actual "Booster" to the game. If that's true, any consideration of these "boosters" that I would have possibly had hiding in the back of my mind will be gone.

Catoring to 1 tenth of your market sounds like a very bad business move to me. I make a point of not buying things on-line. I've been burned a couple times and I really rather would support the Mom 'n Pop game shop down the street.

No retail version = Gimp not interested.

is it just me or the stuffthey used to release in free patches like extra vehicles guns and maps in bf1942 are goin to be sold from now on...

probably another marketing move from EA... the money making tactics of EA are just going worse and worse...

for some reason i think that if DICE was still in full control of BF these kinds of things would not happen.

One problem i do have with this is that i don’t feel comfortable with buying online. I do it sometimes but lately their has been a large thief of Visa and Debt cards being used overseas and i am reluctant to do it know.

I still havent purchased SF simply because its INSANE to pay 30 bucks for a mini mod. Even if it was a total conversion, 30 bucks is steep. Look at all the kick ass mods coming out for free.

I figured this kind of **** would be coming way back when they had that 'Official Poll' on their site asking if you would pay for more content.

The exact things you come to expect in patches are no longer there, they are now asking you to pay for it. BF42 and BFV had several nice maps that came with their patches, and that also meant new vehicles right along with some of them.

Just like SF, I'm not buying into that either. I rarely play BF2 the way it is, when I consider the amount of content in that game to be less than it's predecessors.

Just to put it simply, by the end of BF42, you got 5 free maps to go with your 16 maps you had out of the box.

BFV, not only did you get a couple extra maps, you got the three of the BF42 pacific maps redone.

Don't give me that scaling maps crap equals 36 maps either, it doesn't. It's the same rehashed **** with less flags. At least the Day1 and Day2 version of maps from the DC team had a significantly different vehicle load out, not just less ****.

That's just my opinion though, I can't be buggered to by a game expansion three times when it already felt rather unfinished from the start. The game engine has huge potential and I think the total conversion mods are gonna be the guys to really show that, I hope.

I think the community should expect a resonable ammount of patching to a game that still needs work even after the next patch.

Bf' 42 took at least 6 patches, i'd expect that from EA/Dice like last time, but, I would deffinately pay extra for more maps/content.

The booster packs sound okay to me, and $10 a pack is reasonable, but i will not purchase anything online, and that includes these booster packs. If EA wants to sell these packs they better package and sell at retail outlets...

If EA are just going to put new maps ect. in and sell it over the net anyone who buys it could just send the maps ect. to everyone, Screw you EA!!

EA should take notes from Valve and add extra content for free. Counter-strike has been going strong for about 7 years. Apparently Valve is doing something right.
