How is teargas?

Never see people use it... Is it useful, or flat out trash? Also is it a seperate unlock or what?

Teargas is nasty...... Once you have been subjected to it, you find it hard to breathe, you eyes will sting like crazy almost make iit impossible to keep them open... your nose and throat will sting and burn...

But on the upside, the more you are subjected to it, the easier it is to resist it..

I think the flashbang is more effective than the tear gas. Atleast, I can escape from the teargas with distored vision. However, flash bang just blind me.

I've found some good tricks to use with gas...

But yeah, you should check the SF forums.
BTW, you cannot unlock it. It's for SF maps only (like grappling hooks and zip lines) because it has the potential to break game balance in standard BF2.

I will agree with GreenMonk108. The teargas is easy to evade. With the flashbangs out in the open I usually end up flashing myself a little.

How ironic for you to say that, when flashbang is not limited to SF. Guess thats not what EA had in mind was it?

I never really find tear gas that threatening. It does take away all your stamina, and make things a bit distorted, but it is very easy to evade or defend yourself against (with your gas mask), and I've actually got some kills while under its influence. Flash bangs on the other hand are a lot more deadly.

Don't forget throwing up. In real life you throw up plus all the stuff you said. I forget whitch people put their troops through the teargas to get them used to it. It's either Army or Marine Corps. Or is it all?

Tear gas use is something that takes a little thinking to make work well. Remember that while you are playing support, you've got unlimited supplies of gas. Just drop yourself some ammo packs.

One trick I've taken to is while I'm a squad leader, I'll gas spam the crap outta a position and get my boys to spawn on me and move up. This is effective for a few reasons. Anyone caught in the gas isn't going to be able to see very far, allowing my boys to move up effectivly. Also the gas itself works like smoke and can be used for cover. On night maps, it forces people to go to masks and they can't use their nightvission. Again, this makes it easier to sneak in. It's important to keep moving while doing this or the enemy will be able to trace your smoke trails to your position.

Another simple stunt is to use it to distract people. Fire off a few gas rounds in a direction that you will NOT aprouch from. The enemy is likely to watch that area, assuming that you will be coming from there. While they are distracted, kill 'em all.

Gas yourself/your squad mates while capping. This sounds insane, but if you've warned your squad of your intentions, they should have their masks on anyway. The smoke is handy for keeping you safe from snipers while you're busy capping.

Gas snipers! The launcher has perty good range on it. The vission imparement is very effective against a sniper. If you can't get him any other way, just gas his position. If he goes to mask, the smoke will still mess him up a bit.

Edit: BTW, I've caught a wiff of teargas in real life. Fook, it sucks.

i dont think teargas in SF is not that good compared to the flashangs. The tear gas you can easly avoid because it spreads out so slow you have enough time to put your mask on plus most cases when i am in a small room i always put on my mask before i come in case they launch a attack. Flashbangs you cant protect yourself most of the time inless your behind a big object.

I think its kind of ******** in the firstplace that SF people can come into any server they want, and use flashbangs and F2000's on people that dont have SF. Thats like EA saying, if you want to have an equal match, you gotta pay another $30 bucks.

Teargas is useful if you know how to use it. A few of my squadmates decided to mess around and race the civlian cars around in SF. One driver and Light Machine Gunner. Well, I was a driver without a gas mask on, got gassed, and nearly ended up going off a cliff along with my gunner. Plus, teargas makes some people (like me) nauseous. And that effects gameplay for the long run.
