Yea, but I could shoot it down in 1 pass with the Mirage. No such luck on 1.03 Mashtuur.

You obviously never played that game; it was stupid fun, shooting down planes with tank guns, free-falling for minutes, point-blank rpg kills.
And we are talking about missiles in BF2 being unrealistic?

And as a matter of fact those missiles are realistic alright, in real life heat seeking missiles miss 80% - 90% of the time, do some research.

You can't really compare the two when it comes to graphics and components of the game, yea BF2 is better, because the developers had a freaking company behind them; DC boys just winged it, and came off with an awesome mod. Yea so it was unbalanced, it wasnt an infantryman's kind of mod 100% of the time, but it was fun. It was all the stuff you want to be able to do in a game, while making it seem almost serious. And AA was a real force in that game, depending how well you can aim, something this BF2 doesnt want you to do much.

NO, thats not what I'm talking about, I'm saying DC was a barrel of laughs.
And something amazing about DC: PEOPLE TALKED WITH ONE ANOTHER IN A GAME. Not a, damn, or I got tk'd!! every 10 minutes of gameplay, it was more personal, we were exchanging blows in this farsical world of invading the Iraqi Army on Iwo Jima, or attacking the enemy pickup truck mechanized force.

          DC I Salute You!

            Re: Tribute to DC

As a DC beta tester who stayed with the team since 0.3 to 0.8, I can list all the flops below

in 0.35, Mp5 had zero deviation, you can shot people across map with it.
from 0.3-0.4, PKM could shot down choppers and people whined a lot
in 0.2, A-10's splash radius is 50m, and one burst from the A10 gun can gun down people with in half of the El Alamein base
up to 0.6, PKM was overpowered
up to 0.6, gernade whoring was bad (battlefield games never managed to solve the problem of GL whoring)
in 0.5 you could stinger snipe
starting from 0.7 they made the VSS 2 shots kill.

              Re: Tribute to DC

when you compare BF2 and DC you have to take into consideration what the person above said.. bf2 was a company.. dc was a set of guys

              1.. DC > BF2 just because
              2. the A-10 Anti-personal bombs = the shizznit.
              3. Circle strafing in a littlebird/apache while caping a flag = good fun
              4. Learning how to fly a helo.. actually took more than 5 mins......
              5. Helo's didnt fly themselves
              6. AA was one of the best things in the game.. unlike what we have now.
              7. DC made you feel like you had some power in your hands.. atleast for me it felt like it did..

i really cant wait till the new DC mod comes out for BF2, even if it's made by someone else, along with the new PoE and FH.

                Re: Tribute to DC

look, DC mod didn't have to deal with the general gamers and they could implement something that's really unbalanced. i call SCUD and AC130 unbalanced, PKM was unbalance, but BF2's balance is perfect.

If i precieve something to be inbalanced in a game, I don't use it. And the only thing I avoid in BF2 is noob tube, that's how balanced it is.

When a game make you feel like you have power, it's called unbalanced. DC's gun was unbalanced.

                    Re: Tribute to DC

You forget that in war somethings are not balanced, now I'm not saying DC was the most accurate of games, but it does show the power 1 person can have on a battlefield, like when it comes to a SCUD or AC130; but those things are supposed to be really powerfull. SCUDs are big missles, no wonder how they can maim so well, and think of this for example, in Vietnam, no US camp was EVER overrun by the VC when the US had a gunship on station and in support, numbers of protected camps range into the thousands. Any Vietnam vet will think affectionatly of the names 'Spooky' or 'Puff the Magic Dragon'

Main point is DC was not meant to provide the most realistic of war games, and it succeded in doing that, well. It was meant to be a fun game, enjoyable by all. Everybody had their little niche in the game, wether you be helicopter pilot(when flying a helicopter took some real skill) tanker(with the eye to hit something a couple of kilometers away. DC is based, somewhat, off of Desert Storm, and people who complain about it not being centered around the infantryman doesn't understand what fighting in the desert means. A lone guy, can't do jack in open desert aganist a sqaudron of tanks. Tanks, vehicles, and planes own the desert, the infantryman, on the other hand is more suited to an urban enviroment.
I also think people who are upset over DC being too 'silly' take their games far too seriously, they forget the main point...to have fun

DC was a free mod, i paid $50 for BF2, i would expect BF2 to be close to perfect as possible. just think how good the game would be if Trauma was paid for their effort. it would be freakin awesome if DC made a ranked mod for BF2....

If you look on the SCUD Launched in DC, its got the numbers '818' on it, the SAME numbers are on the bottom of the Blackhawk. Check it out, I thought it was pretty cool.

And oh yea, DC is the best game ever. A real guilty pleasure:)
One thing, if you're going to start a tribute thread, don't put in '' bf2 ripped off DC ''

Now you've only succeded in creating a flame thread.

Ok.. if you all hate bf2 so much.. ripped off poor ol dc.. then damn, don't take your time, to register to a forum about bf2 to just talk crap about it.

Plus, if you didn't notice DICE has been going up in the years for the battlefield games.... ww2... vietnam.. and then modern combat.. how did you not see this? Just because a mod team put it out first while dice was working on bfvietnam doesn't mean they stole their idea.

Not really, so (DICE) doesn't make mods for it's games? How heart breaking. (because everyone else does it, right?)

And to think the mods for a battlefield series wouldn't be based on a different time frame... now that i can say is, very odd..

DICE doesnt make mods, they make expansions. RTR, SW, Vietnam Redux, SF. Redux was classic marketing, i remember everyone bitching cause they thought it was a different game...EA pwnage....
