      I love doing that.
And to whoever said the vehicles were unbalanced, the SMAW/RPG are pretty good against vehicles, and when in city they are really prone to getting taken out by C4/Mines as well. The infantry combat was tons of fun though.
      Favorite maps:
      Oil Rig,
      73 Eastings,
      Oil Fields,
      Basrah's Edge/Nights.
BF2 is definately not ripping off DC, BF2 is atleast 15 years after DC took place.

      15 years, wtf.

I often think that's why EA bought them. Not because they really wanted them to work on BF2, but because they didn't want Desert Combat to port into BF2.

Yeah. I mean not only have they fired them, but secured EVERYTHING Desert Combat. The DCom team can't continue work on it or anything. And obviously, DCon can't use anything at all from it or EA is going to slap them with a lawsuit. It's definatly a fishy situation if you ask me. If BF2 were about modding, I doubt they would have cared if DCom were used or not, as it has no market potential. They could have just hired the developers and called it that, but they took that extra step to hinder the development of something so phenomenal as Desert Combat was. That's my theory anyway.

I think Desert Conflict and their team will still make a dandy of a mod that many players will play though, but it definately has to be annoying making a mod of a mod, essentially, and all that stuff in existance, but you can't even use the models, sounds, textures, or anything from a free game that is the prequel to your mod.

It was cool tho.. playing as Iraqi, the mere sound of an A-10 near drove everyone inside, usually not long before everyone foolish enough to remain to be tore to shreds by the 10meter splash gattling gun.

I wouldn't go that far lol, DC had it's share of bugs also lol.

Which is why DCF was a mod of DC, so that it could be finished and not break any rules.

Would you really want to use the old models and textures? With the way the textures are in game now, not sure if you have checked the files out, they would probably look like ****. The models would probably look like the old DC models, but it would be better to go with newer models using more polys for better detail.

I'm not sure that recycling the old stuff would really look too hot. Also, they would probably even have had to get permission for the old lead guys of the old DC team (if it wasn't for EA) to use some of the stuff that the now DCom guys didn't create, most of the DCom team is new and the stuff from the old DC isn't theirs to begin with. This paragraph is all just a guess though.

Personally, I'd rather see new models and ****. The T72 in my sig is from DC (apart from the obvious pchoppin), and although it looks good, I think it would look like crap parked next to the current model they have.

The Gulf War was in 1991, it is now just about 2006, and BF2 is set in the near future. So: 2006-1991=15.

No it isn't, it is nothing like DC.

They dont have the same concept. DC was Gulf War II @ 1991.
Bf2 is "now" or in near future such as 2007.
Both have the title "modern warfare" but bf2 isnt dc with different vehicles....

I wouldn't expect EVERYTHING to be a direct port if they had access to it, but it would most definately be something to start from instead of going from scratch again. Of course, if EA had have allowed DCom the ability to continue DCom and let them keep their content and everything, it's likely they would have done the DC of BF2 themselves anyway. I wonder if EA has anything against them joining mod teams at all, I don't think any of the original DCom team have joined DCon, have they?

Not sure if the ones that went to EA joined the DCon team, but I know it has members on board that worked on DC and DCF (testers i think). I would assume there is a possibility they got jobs elsewhere with different gaming/programming companies. DC/DCF probably made for a nice visual resume of what they could do for their respective talents and having a little work time below their belt with EA mite help out a bit in getting such jobs.

I am also not sure that someone would want to commit more time on mods and not get paid for it when alot of them probably have real life things that pop up. Especially after having a long run at making **** and not really getting much in return for it. Guess alot of it is just speculation on why they aren't doing it, unless someone from DC/DCF actually comes out and says something.
