    Re: Tribute to DC

I thought DC was better. It had a different pace to it, you had time to create and execute strategies and tactics. BF2 feels more like Quake with vehicles.

Actually, I heard they closed down the NYC office, but offered them jobs at some of their other locations if they wanted them.

Regardless, they ended up making a hell of a lot more off of DC than most mod makers.

To me, the single biggest advantage DC has over BF2 is that DC never had a Sat Scan or UAV. You could actually be stealthy in DC.

BF2 dumbed that down, so even the clumsiest of players are on even ground with the ninjas. Stupid beeping red dots.

Right. It's a backhanded way of firing people - you give them a choice that isn't much of a choice, and all the while you're fully aware that there's a 99% chance they can't or won't take the option.

Why would you say they ripped off DC? Think about this for a minute, Battlefield 1942... Battlefield Vietnam... Battlefield Modern Combat... hmmm there is a pattern here, just can't seem to put my finger on it... oh a chronological time-line..

DC was mad fun, but it was super unbalanced and biased towards the Opposition team....

Grail and RPG reloaded 1.4 seconds faster than the Stinger and SMAW
Mirage and Mig-29 owned the **** out of coalition aircraft
              SCUD
T72 didn't get stuck and harder to get perpendicular shots on compared to Abrams
Shilka had better armor than the Vulcan
              SA-7 better than Patriot
Gazelle was a better light chopper than Lil'B and took two stingers to put down
Opposition Lil'B (500 series) took two stingers to drop, but Coalition only took one

DC did hold my attention alot longer than BF2 though, probably because at the end, they had over 20 of their own maps, and a **** hair over 50 maps total in the final release.

Not to mention, they had a larger variety of vehicles and more variants of vehicles.

DC has it beat in some aspects.

Anyone that has anything bad to say about it... probably didnt play it. Yeah... bf2 is better. We know. Guess what? Trauma Studios was the primary designing force behind BF2. Hence why DICE bought them out.

Not that any of the little kiddies that seem to post on these forums were even gaming back then... but feh...

Anybody remember the A-10 in .2? It was WORSE than the BlackHawk in BF2...

DC was the daddy of ALL BF mods, they did it first & everyone else just followed !

DC was the shizznit, and i noticed DICE ripped of DC's forklift, how lame.

I liked the fact you could actually shoot down jets with the stinger and the AAA sites.

The large maps such as El Alamein beats what we got now IMO. I also liked the fact we could control the battleships. And it even had a submarine!!!

EDIT - I must say, the BF1942 intro still feels epic for some reason. Hearing it on a nice system brings back memories lol.

Trauma didn't have as much say in BF2 as you think, if you look around the Gen section of their forums, you will see one of the DCF devs posts on it.
