Re: NEW NVIDIA Driver fixed my LAG in BF2SF

I run Windows 64 bit on my AMD 64 chip and I use the tweaked XTreme-G 64s http://www.tweaksrus.com/ the Image Quality is better (my opinion), both preform the same in benchmarks on my eVGA 6800GT 256 PCI-e. The 32 bit version seems to be popular also.

If you want to learn more about vidio cards & drivers here are some good sites.

http://www.tweaksrus.com/ I get my driver here

http://www.3dacc.net/index.php great site very large driver DL section (if you want an older driver or a tweaked 1 look here)

http://www.guru3d.com/ lots of info, large DL section & good comunity

Is Win 64 any good for gaming?
      Any preformance gain in games?

It seemed no matter what drivers I was using I would get this crazy stutter that would bring my game to a hault. I also have a geforce 6800 gt oc 256 mb. I went into my bios and noticed that my agp apature was at 64mb, I changed it to 256 mb and have noticed and definite difference.

I still have performance issues seein im running on a 2.4 ghz p4 and only gotta gig of ram. I run at 1024x768 with all the settings on high except for the shadow and lighting effects set to medium. I have never checked to see what my actual fps are when im playin but its bareable.

              I changed my res from 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz to 1024 x 768 @ 85Hz, took of VSync, and re-cached the graphics and it's running alot smoother now.

Re: NEW NVIDIA Driver fixed my LAG in BF2SF

I'm getting bad graphical lag as well, but I can't use the 81.95 patch since my computer is using Windows Media Center Edition

                  I'm running driver 77.79...

                  I've got a 6600GT 256
                  P4 3.8GHz HT
                  2gb RAM

                  and I play the game @ 1024x768

And I'll get 15fps in some parts of the game! (like the building at the north point in Warlord or in most of the night maps)

Anyone know what else I can do? The normal BF2 maps run 40+FPS, but these new maps are sloooooww for me...

Just so you know, having vsync on only maxes your fps to your monitors refresh rate.
So if you have a monitor that can handle 85Hz at your desired resolution (1024x768) it's best to leave vsync on to get less texture tearing and other strange visual effects.

Point being, if your comp can't get any higher than 50 fps in BF2 for example, turning vsync off won't make it any higher unless of course your monitors refresh rate maxes out at 50Hz.

That is so far the worst part of the game FPS wise for me as well. That's a shame too, since that is my favorite map.

OMG! It's like a new game incredible!

                            No

That is not how vsync works

Say you get a normal FPS of 53 in bf2 then you turn on vsync with a refresh rate of 85

This will then only give you an fps of 42.. if you go below this then your fps will drop into the 20s

Only way to make vsync not hurt fps its to force triple buffering for d3d games and opengl when you play

From what i know Ati can only enable triple buffering in d3d and opengl

                            Dont know what nvidia has

Dont know why people say vsync cant kill fps..

Its not like you cap it at 85 and you will get 85

Only way for this to happen is if you always get 85 fps or above

If you often drop below that then 42 fps

thank you ATI for tripple buffering

That chip is normally $1000-$1100.00 everywhere else. I don't want to build a new computer yet. Mine isn't that outdated.

Thats the plan for the next build, this PC is STILL very capable and this chip is the last/only thing I can do. When I build my next one, it will be water cooled, have two 8000?? 512mb video cards, and dual processors, To start, but thats another thread.
