This has got to be the most arbitary rule I've ever heard. So shooting planes with planes before they take off is for ****** but not using the planes to take down infantry who are equally if not more helpless?
I don't know, given the current state of AA-sites, letting an enemy plane into the air seems like a fair way to balance the jets.

Interesting...never thought of it that way.

Ok, WTF? Now how is someone supposed to enforce that let alone prove anything? I can see everyone stopping on the server to discuss if a TK was accidental or not. Not.
you are absolutely the silliest person i've seen... btw it's "absolutely".

On Topic : The argument over the swearing is and always will be a heated one, personally i agree that it is lunacy to try enforce some rules but as others have stated "you dont like it, play elsewhere". now that answer is fine but stills leaves the question, yes Filer/ban/kick for fully typed expletives if you wish but IMHO i believe being kicked for 'BS' etc is idiotic (yes we know what he meant but plz grow up).

the guy who stated about highschool kids swearing is 100%, most if not all kids today and yes the same goes for adults, those who feel that kind of languae offends them should go live in a colony with some quakers , mormons and a candle stick maker cause you aint on the same planet that is populated by the rest of us, if i offend your sensitive nature then good cause you need to be shaken out of these xenophobic delusions.

Re: Silliest server rules you've seen...

What people don't get is that no-swear servers in most cases aren't trying to impose their morals on anyone. They just don't want a bunch of kids in their server. You're spot on that kids and immature adults tend to use the most cursing in the online arena... and therefore, those who want to run mature gaming communities usually implement some sort of swear filter.

The problem we're encountering now is the Battlefield community has traditionally been a more mature community. But now with the release of BF2, and the introduction of an entirely new crowd of people playing (read: kids), the "mature" standard now seems unfair to many people. Hence, we have these pointless debates, where people try to talk server administrators out of enforcing rules on the servers they pay for. This isn't the public domain, folks. Gaming servers are a private venture, and someone leasing a server has the right to impose any sort of rules they want, within the boundaries set by the server owner.

And to whoever said people who admin "no swear" servers should lock them, and dole out passwords to trusted users: I know a lot of no-swear servers that are drawing in a lot of traffic. It's mostly people who don't want to play on a server with a bunch of trash talking kiddies. Noob isn't a swear word, but it's a word I never want to see on any server I run. It's just a word to unnecessarily instigate. More power to people who filter it. I prefer a fun and good hearted gaming experience as opposed to one full of trash talking.

P.S.- Don't take this as a knock against all people under 18... there are some mature kids out there, but my experience is that the lions share who are playing BF2 are incredibly immature.

P.S.S.- Congratulations if you just read all of that.

No Swearing/Whining or any form of disrespect
              No hacks ...

              So... WE ARE ADULTS
Most of our members are over 30, many are married and some even play IN THE SERVER WITH THEIR KIDS.

              So no swearing.

We play games to have fun, not to listen to little kids say WTF or BS anytime they get killed...

YOU GOT KILLED THATS IT, Come back and try and kill us...
It is immature to complain. thats it thats all.

The reason why we kick for bs, wtf or whatever is because we promote Respect, teamwork and good sportsmanship... not a server for all those uneducated kids that swear, bitch and whine when things dont go their way
Funny word's like mature, and uneducated kids. Still haven't answered anything to anyone. What do these word's do to you personally?
If someone swear's everytime they get killed and say "WTF". This mean's? Umm...that you can not play the game correctly? I myself swear and play with teamwork and accomplish task's more so then other's that don't. What does this mean?

Your rule's are to push your belief's on to other's. "That's it, that's all". If you were acually playing the game you would'nt see other's typing "WTF", "BS", or w/e else anyway.
You people bore me with your reasoning.

                Silliest server rule I've seen?

The admin, who was a player himself, had a rule that there was to be NO attacking a home base, yet felt it was quite okay for him to sit in a home base with artillery and shell the you-know-what out of everyone.

I dont have a problem with most server rules, no bunny hopping etc but some do go ott & in my opinion spoil the game. If I see a server with stupid rules I dont even play on them & move on to the next problem solved.

Re: Silliest server rules you've seen...

Oh you poor souls. I pity you and your moderated servers..

I've yet to come across a server with ANY posted rules.. they're mostly implied I guess.

I guess its so poor saps who deal with kiddies anyway, on the servers i play, i think theres one regular 13 year old and noone younger.. and even then hes some dudes kid (the father also plays: im thinking sgt.socom or similar but my memory is shot).

YES WE SWEAR. WE SWEAR A LOT (sometimes!). No way has anyone been banned for swearing to my knowledge, nor have base rapers, spawn campers or anything (except for those dicks who sit infront of your plane and then ptk you).

Unless you cant handle it, swearing in game creates an atmosphere of its own. Bad mouthing is a shock tactic, like Sun Tzu said "if your enemy is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him", if I can **** you off enough that it clouds your judgement then thats a bonus to me.

By all means make it a rule to have no swearing, just be aware you're missing out on a potentially fun area of the game.

Its not like anyone listens to the dudes who say WTF or BS, so why do you care? Is your life so devoid of stimulation you cant handle this approach to life?

And for the record, the silliest server rule i saw was "christians only".
I think its a good thing they have that rule, it keeps those **** suckers away from the rest of humanity, who could do without the primitive medieval BS these (insert derogoratory word here, the WORST one you know) people would spill from their filthy mouths.

If theres one thing i cant stand, its exclusive minority groups; because they're somehow better than you, and they'll let you know it too.

Way to fan the flames, Evo. If Christians want to play in the confines of an exclusive server, so be it. Benis still has a point.

The fact of the matter is that if you are not having a good time to the point that you have to type out swear words or acronyms, you should simply disconnect and go find another server. Hell, I go back to single player a bit to stroke my ego and get back to multiplayer once in a while.

And Evo, if you want to keep pestering this communty, just go back to CS. As if your sig isn't an indicator enough of your twitch gameplay.

I'm fanning the flames? And you're not? And Bemis isn't? Based on your statement, we agree that people should stop their whining and get on and play.

You think I'm pestering? I'm engaging in a discussion in a discussion forum. Since you can't handle having your viewpoint challenged, maybe it's you who should find something else to do.

And I still play CS quite often, thank you. And DoD and BF2. Don't be so arrogant to tell me how and where I should play.

You might as well have typed "I'm an ignorant sod" instead - same meaning would have come across.

First you have to place C4. Do a bad job, and the enemy will be able to see it or avoid it. IF they can't, they'll come hunting for you since you can't be far. Good placement takes skill.

Relevant placement is also important, since you have to know where and how to place C4 in order to maximize the kill area, but also reach soldiers behind sandbags, etc. Your blast has to cover every nook and cranny inside the flag radius, and most people don't know now to do that. What about armor? Spread the C4 out too far and you'll just damage it. Then what? Is there threat of a helicopter? Better place them high on a flagpole, which I know many people can't do.

Next is timing. Do you blow it immediately? When the flag goes white? Right before the cap is complete? Your choice depends on the circumstances, the presence (or not) of a squad leader, armor, and the chances of stragglers being left. If you team helping? Is killing more enemies more important than retaining control of the flag? It varies.

Survival. Where are you going to hide and wait? It better be good, because once the enemy discovers C4 they're going to look around. And if there's a UAV active, you better have a plan for defending yourself or escaping.

                                Yea, no skill at all.
