No one yet. I may not be able to choose the winner of the story contest until tomorrow. Trying to find a server has been taking up most of my time tonight. :)

            Story
The thing that gets me about bf2 is that it can be won in different ways... if you're a kiling machine, pure luck, good teamwork, etc...

So i was one day bored, and kicked back to play some bf2... joined my favorite server, which was playing wake island 2007(not my fav map.. but ok...)
I get to be Chinese, and we hold the island for bout 15 minutes or so. After the 15 minues, all of a sudden we started loosing our grip.. (dunno, better player on the other team... wutever i dunno) well.. the USMC manages to capture our last Spawn point, The Chinese Airfield after some heavy bombardment, and 2 tanks rolling in. (hold on i'm gettin to the funny part) And everyone on my team was screaming, and whining cuz the tickets were 60(Chinese)-7(USMC) and saying OMG u **** noob why didn't u do this n this.. (u kno the casual) i switched the spectator mode (c) and watched as my still alive teamates takin it to themselves to win the game for us. I wached horrified as i saw that only one of my teamates was left... but he managed to get the enemy's tickets to 2.( he was a pilot..)

Our tickets had gone down bout (Chin.)17-2(USMC). I had give up hope... but our last teamate hadn't, out of amo, and nowere to re-suply he did what he could... he saw a enemy chopper and kamikazed onto it winning us the match.   I jumped out of my chair, hitting my legs becuse of the desk and keyboard laughin so hard.... we won cuz of a kamikaze. next round we were congratulating our god friend for the good quick thinkin he did... thx m8!

Gulf Of Oman, September 12th, 2005.
I created a squad, Alpha, and four guys joined it. We had a medic, two assaults, and a support. I myself was a spec-op. We spawned at the right US base. Utilizing VOIP and text as methods of communication, a squad member told us to head towards the hotel. I requested a UAV, and the commander replied with a yellow circle looping on our minimap, on the hotel, discovering five guys, one on top of the hotel. A sniper. We used the improper method of pooping a supply box on his head, and he died, but not before rendering one of my squad members, an assault, critically wounded. The medic revived him, and we saw a jet battle roaring overhead. Pieces of MiGs rained on us. A Mi-28 harassed us near the hotel, and an anti-tank guy on our side was pinned down and severely wounded, according to VOIP from our medic. So we provided covering fire while he fired a rocket and blew both of the pilots out while simultaneously keeping the chopper intact. Unfortunately it blew up a few seconds after impact.

By this time we had 250 tickets while the MECs had 200, and I discovered that we had held the coastal positions and were exacting an attack on their remaining 3 bases, the central positions. An Mi-28 attacked our squad, killing the medic and a support. An F-35 destroyed both MEC jets; we had air superiority for a limited time. It finally destroyed the helicopter, but not before zooming into the crane at 600 miles per hour. MEC armour continued to harass us as we struggled to kill MEC soldiers at their right central base, which we finally did; we neutralized the point. An AH-1Z destroyed the tank, and one of our tanks as well headed towards us, mopping up enemy infantry. Suddenly an enemy spec-op destroyed the M1A1. An FAV pinned us down near the hotel. By this time my whole squad respawned on me, and the support guy proceeded to cover fire while we picked off their crew, one by one. The majority of our team had trouble over at the left central base, so we texted the AH-1Z to bomb them. Our blackhawk finally came by and pooped off reinforcements while simutaneously distracting the newly respawned Mi-28. We blew it out of the sky with the stinger. Our forces massed at our captured base, and we decided to get some city air. We got some ammo from our support, and health from our medic.. UAV and artillery aided us, especially at the last base, as we mopped up.

My squad helped me, a lot. I had more than twenty kills, and half the teamwork points. I didn't get any medals, or any award for that matter. But my squad was all I needed.

I have seen a couple of former squad members hanging around BF2. It was fun.

Another time was when I snuck up on some US soldiers pinning the guys near the hotel on the rooftop near it, and I planted some c4 and blew them away. Later on, when I spawned as an engineer and put some mines right in the middle of the road, all visible, while my squad was distracting the guys at the right base. A humvee manuevered onto it and blew all 3 guys, a tank rolled onto another a few seconds later, killing the driver, and an APC swerved to avoid it, rolling onto another mine, killing the two inside. I destroyed their vehicles, and that helped greatly.

Actually, "Kamikaze" translates to "Divine wind". Kami being spirits, or the supernatural, best translated in this case as Divine to represent 'otherworldly' and kaze meaning breeze or wind, which can also mean common cold but clearly not intended to in this case.

The japanese suicide pilots were called "Kamikaze" pilots because they struck with the power of a "Divine wind" and the word as since been used to refer to various kinds of suicide attacks regardless of nationality.

Ah Battlefield how I love thee, how I hate thee

Picking one event from playing Battlefield that represents the pinnacle of rollercoaster like emotions from playing this game would be too mountainous of a task. It’s definitely the accumulation of both the good and the bad that keeps me playing into the early hours of the morning.

Undoubtedly most players have real life comrades which partake in skillfully working as a team to dominate in a server; I however have to resort to the occasional virtual teammate that happens along and manage to hook up with, even for a brief moment, complete strangers paired together working in unison is an amazing experience.

Sometimes the only identifying trait is the accent of the voice used over in game voice-chat; say you must be from Russia huh? There’s a strong sense of community for Battlefield, these strong emotions carry over into these very forums but in the end, love it or hate it Battlefield is one hell of a game.
