BF2:Special Forces Online Video 17 Mins + FREE KEY CONTEST

Many of you will recall my Battlefield 2 video this summer. Well, thanks to EA I've been able to grab footage from Special Forces and as promised, here's a new video that I put together after online play with a LEGIT copy of Special Forces. This video does not contain as much footage as my summer video but I think seventeen minutes is definitely enough to hold everyone over until tomorrow. The footage features 10-12 players and it includes footage of three maps, real combat, heli flight and some extra bonus footage at the end.

Currently hosted at FileFront (FilePlanet coming soon) :

    http://files.filefront.com/bf2sf_mys.../fileinfo.html

If you can mirror please PM me - I can get you a direct high speed link for hosting.

Now, as part of this, I'm also giving away one key to one person who writes up a great Battlefield moments story in this thread (CONTEST OVER - WINNER CHOSEN). I will be the judge of the best story but what I'm looking for is a 2-6 paragraph story on something that really made you fall in love with Battlefield games. It can be based around something hilarious that you saw or something moving like seeing people work as a team.

I will also give away another key on TUESDAY 11/22/05 at 9PM CST

The Battlefield 2 Thanksgiving Turkey Hunt
    When? 9PM CST TONIGHT!
    Where? SERVER INFO : 69.93.147.5 16567

Starting shortly after 9PM CST (30 mins from now)
    Rules ..

    1. This is a turkey hunt. It's everyone vs the turkey. Knives only, you may kill eachother with knives / vehicles but no weapons of any kind may be used EXCEPT for C4. C4 kills on the turkey will not count but C4 may be used to clear others from the chase.

    2. I am the turkey. You are only allowed to kill me with knives, any other method of killing will not earn you a point. If you shoot me with a sniper rifle, no point will be awarded. Same goes with artillery, running me over, etc. Knife kills ONLY.

    3. This will be run off a 32 person server. Since it's 31 vs 1 and you can kill eachother, expect to have negative scores. If you can host this contest, please let me know as we would like to run this on a server with no tk punish and light administration (to boot people using guns for example).

    4. The person who gets the most knife kills on me wins the contest. If there is a tie, the game will go into sudden death where the first person to break the tie wins.

    5. The prize is one Special Forces CD key which gives you the game for free to download from the EA Downloader system.

    Stay tuned for more details!

So get working on those stories and post them in this thread if you want a shot. If you miss out / don't win with the story contest, plan on playing Battlefield 2 tonight for a chance to win a SF key in-game.

What made me fall in love with battlefield games?

It was few years ago, I had headed to a lan to play on the computer, i never had my own computer so I had started laying here. This one day iI came in and I had sen this icon xcalled Desertcombat , I asked an employee what it was and he replied "Its a new mod for battlfied 1942". I responded "what kind of mod?"
"A modern war putting the usa agaisnt the iraqi's". I had always loved anything modern military but could not seem to get my fix off of history channel or regular Battlefiled 1942. So I gave it a try and I was hooked , i Swear i spent at least 500 bucks at the gaming centre until i bought a computer to llay as much as i wanted. My love for the game was extended by finding a good Capture the flag server called Desert of Doom (www.unholyplayground.com). I found a community with exellent clans and players. When i played the unholy maps it just made the game much more exciting and made you plan out attacks different unlike the vannila maps.

            Battlefield Vietnam

When it came out I played for a few days straight , I loved those helos and the napalm bombs. After awile I went back to Desert Combat because BF:V wasnt modern enough for me. After Point of Existence came out I started playing that. It was even modern than Desert Combat and every new patch or update rocked my world bringing in new weapons and vehicles to use agaisnt my opponents. I wanted to play as a team but could not find teamplayers to play with on PoE servers so I joined Total War a tournament for point of existence. I signed up on the middle of campaign two and started learnin from there. I made a TON of friends on the russian and american sides which I thaknk all to PoE team and the Battlefield series.

            Battlefield 2

Rank , that is the single word that got me hooked on it and also that it ultra modern weaponry and army's. I knew before the game came out that I would be a stat whore. Playing every night and even for hours on end on the weekend, putting my body to the limit :P. Now it comes down to Special forces to rekindle the steady Bf2 flame into a Tiger Torch flame I wish to play

Video requires the Divx 5 codec. I'm not sure on the server yet, if there are any clans with a US server that want to host / moderate, let me know. Really all we need are admins that boot people if they're disrupting the contest (by shooting me to death non stop for example - knives only).

So far, the rules I've come up with are everyone else can kill eachother with knives to try to stop other players from killing me. No guns. You're free to use any vehicle to chase me but kills MUST be made with a knife. If you run me over, it doesn't count. I will also stay close to spawn areas so if you die from another player, you can get back to me pretty quick.

Anyone is welcome to join once I have the server details. Let's plan to do this around 9PM CST. :)

I had heard about and seen Battlefield 1942 and Desert Combat but never played it for some reason. I had always been hooked on CS and all the new games coming out from Valve. After a while CS became boring and people in the CS community I am in started talking about Battlefield 2 and when it was coming out. I started to look at screenshots and videos and it looked like a good game so we all decided to buy it when it came out. I preordered it and went to gamestop at 10am to go pick it up and to my surprise there was only 1 other person there waiting to get the game.

Popped it in and installed it and pretty much couldn’t stop playing it. The awards were fun to get and I couldn’t wait to get another but you never knew when that would happen. Everyone started to gain rank and then all you wanted were the little mobiles above your name to show how good you are.

The best matches are when people have big scrims and have everything coordinated in Teamspeak. I did this once and we had at least 15-20 people on teamspeak for team 1 and same with team 2. We had a bunch of different squads and were able to all communicate through teamspeak to make a coordinating effort to cap flags and win. Even though the server is not ranked it shows that people still play the game to have fun in big matches like this.

With BF2:SF coming out it just adds to the game and makes it more exciting to play and rejuvenates some peoples lost interest.

Cool. Anyone have any funny stories? Hilarious stuff happens in Battlefield games all the time. For example, I can remember a few instances where I was trying to shoot down a chopper with my AA kit in BF:Vietnam only to see the pilot bail right before the chopper blew up. Normally this is pretty frustrating because you then have to go and find the guy / kill him but in this instance, the guy literally fell right in front of me and didn't open his chute in time. Seeing him fall and die like that cracked me up.

Battlefield 1942 on the Wake Island map. I was on the Japanese side and I had just lost a plane. I spawn at the carrier and see a bunch of guys all running around shooting at the ground waiting for a plane to spawn. You know the guys I'm talking about, instead of capping flags they sit on the runway waiting for a plane to spawn. Well, an allied torpedo bomber comes flying in and accidentically goes kamikaze when he tries to wing clip the guys. He blew up but from that explosion everyone camping for the planes either died instantly or went flying off into the water in all directions. Not only that, but someone was driving the carrier and he kept on going as the guys in the water tried to reach the nets.

Here's my final funny story. This was more accidental as I didn't know you could push in BF2. I had just gotten my pre-release copy and I was standing on an aircraft carrier waiting for an F-22 to respawn. Someone else was waiting as well and he noticed an enemy infantry in the water. As he got to the edge to look straight down into the water to finish the guy off, I walked up to him to look as well and actually pushed him INTO the water. It was a total accident but I couldn't help but crack up for a good 5 minutes as I took off with the F-22 while he tried to swim back up onto the carrier.

Any stories like these? Keep the video feedback coming too btw. :)
