Thinking of Cheating? Might be a good time to start thinking twice. The acclaimed cheat maker that also produced the BF2 WinAMP plugin to help 'protect' his cheat, looks like his gig may be up. Not only were his user's issued Punkbuster Ban's but it looks like someone has made it a pastime to uncover the 'secret's' behind his scam.

i just got done reading it and i was wondering, what's gonna happen to those poor suckers that got hardware banned on ALL punkbuster games? hypothetically speaking, what if i were to cheat in BF2 and got HW banned from all PB games, what would happen if i bought a new game with PB and online functionality? they can't deny me access to a game that i never cheated in and that i paid good money for. they must be joking if they think they can get away with this garbage. forget about the fact that they're cheaters for a second and think of them as consumers. if you crashed your hooptie and bought a brand new car and were told that you can't open the locks on it, what would you think? (provided you didn't lose your license or anything)

anyway, i'm glad they nailed this bastard. however, the law needs to get involved in this as this is clearly a scam.

Your not getting banned from the game, your getting banned from the PB anti cheat system. When you install the game, you get to a certain point were the install stops and you get a popup that asks you if you want to install PB, if you say yes, you are then taken to an EULA that you have a choice to agree/disagree with it in which basically states that 'if you get caught cheating, you mite possibly not be able to play on any PB enabled server, but you can still play the game on any server not running PB'. You can say no to the install of PB and to the EULA, then you don't have PB on your system, but you can only play on servers not running PB.

So in short, you can play the game as much as you want on any server that doesn't PB enabled if you get a global ban from PB. I think it is a bit much, but I don't have anything to worry about if I am not cheating

In some instances, you'd need more than a mac spoofer now days to get around a PB hardware ban, depends on what and how many items they ban from your comp. They get the mac address of several items on your computer out of a group of items that can be on it, they don't ban every hardware item, just some of them to make it a pain in the ass to mac spoof. That can be anything of three or more from your harddrive, nic card, sound card etc.

Maz is basically a noob coder who tries emulate a coder by the name of Broil and Silent 50 Cal who works for a site with the initials BG. The kid is a horrible coder and I have seen how many of his people get banned and continue to say omgod it doesn't matter he is still awesome. Sad, sad indeed.

You sure know alot about this stuff...and how the hacking heck did you get such a high kill death ratio along with 3 about 3 times as many kicks as I have even though you've played 1/3rd as long?

I wont bet on anyone, but I think pehn0m is a good player. At least I had some experience playing against him in bf42 he was definitly a good player. I never felt he was cheating. He is a good pilot.

DICE couldnt program an alarm clock...EA only supports games with MADDEN
in the title....and PUNKBUSTER is just a fancy term to make all you BF2
(and other games..) players feel all tingly and safe inside whilest it does nothing,
updates every 6 years, and only causes problems for legitimate players.
(Ive been kicked for modified content dozens of times, and yet, ZERO MODIFIED CONTENT.)


Bf2 is the biggest disapointment to hit the shelves this year..with DOOM 3
being a close second (but hey, at least DOOM 3 was finished!)

Looked at your RANKED servers lately?? 2 months ago there were 2000+
Now theres less than 600 on my list using the same filiters.. and more than
half of those are empty.. Games such as Unreal Tournament 1999 , and
Counterstrike (2000-2005) still have that many online servers.

Notice more and more privates in the game? Notice more and more childish
play? I sure did. Ive seen whole clans disband already and go on to other
games, or go back to BFV.

BF2 is a disgrace to first person shooters..

There isn't a single cheat protection program available to stop cheating altogether, it's a game of catch up and trying to cut off for them. If it sucks that bad, divine them with your pearls of programming genius, I'm sure they'd appreciate the boundless talent stored in you.

Of all the games I have played that were actually very popular online, this is probably the safest, in terms of cheat protection, that I have played so far. The Content Check (which does take a bit of time) does a good job of screening the game files for manual editing and PB does a fair enough job of scanning what is loaded into memory on your computer. If you actually keep up on what the assholes of the gaming world are doing, they haven't been putting out to many public cheats, and when they do, they get stopped in a fairly reasonable amount of time compared to cheat protection programs for other games.
