Funny that the original poster, "anyoldguy", hasn't come back to make any comments. I strongly suspect he's the same guy who wrote/is writing this artical. Hehe, I mentioned that rightaway in the hopes of drawing him into confessing.

If you're smart enough you shouldn't have a problem with this kind of thing anyway, So the people who got nailed by him are cheaters. Can you see the level of caring I have? They are cheaters, they get what they deserve, more power to this guy.Comment

I applaud anyolduser (if in fact he is the one writing the blog) for not only his technical expertise but for his determination as well. I would love to take this sort of action and possibly could have back when I worked in the industry many years ago. With the speed of technology, I would be completely lost on how to even start this sort of investigation.
All of us who are legitimate gamers and earn our ranks the old fashioned way (through blood, sweat and tears...oh and many MANY hours of playtime) should be thankful that we have someone willing to devote so much time and effort into such research to maintain our gaming experience as fun and enjoyable.

When I found out that the BF2Amp might have hidden hacks I right away uninstalled it, do you think anything could be left? I did Spybot S&D scans and virus scans and they came up empty...Comment

I don't think BF2 was infested with anything nasty aside from the cheat source code. The F:censored:k-tard would have wanted it nice and clean so no-one would report to various forums that it was infected and curb people from DLing it.
He wanted mass installs to hide behind.
I'd be worried too, tho. If some of that source was left behind during the uninstall, you could still get yer arse bitten. I'd take a manual snoop.Comment

Exactly. It wasn't that the BF2Amp was fuxxored (from what I am gathering), it's that if he had a legit program that wouldn't get you kicked for drawing on the hud and **** (bf2 amp controls) that tons of people were using and would be ****ed if they got kicked for using it, then he could draw on the hud using the same method for other intentions (radar etc). Not only the BF2 winamp, thank god I never installed that, had no idea it contained hacks also, but anyone contemplating of cheating are only cheating themselves and if they think they can get away with it using some of these cheats that pb can't detect think again.
If you risk using any cheats and playing on our server you may get a rude shock. We had a player who came on our server and blatantly bragged that they were cheating, that pb couldn't detect it and there is nothing anyone can do about that WRONG!
We can take pb screenshots of people we think may be cheating, like the clueless guy above. What does a pb screenshot do some may say. Well it takes a screenshot of the suspects screen, exactly what they see on their screen we also see on their screen. It makes it easier to detect whether they are using a cheat/hack of any kind.
With a pb screenshot we can pass that onto evenbalance.com ( people who make pb) along with their PB GUID and guess what their CD keys gets banned just like if pb had detected them. Even if they try to create another alias the PB GUID bans all and any names used with that CD key rendering the offenders BF2 useless for playing online.
