    Kamikaze: legitimate tactic

the other day i was on gulf of oman flying around in my mig and i saw a blackhawk trying to land on the hotel. i had no missles left so i did the next best thing, i rammed the poor sucker with my plane and i instantly got 6-7 (or whatever amount of people that damn thing holds) kills from a full blackhawk and saved the guys at the hotel from being spawn camped.

Kind of a waste though -- you could have machine gunned the chopper ...

I've taken down Blackhawks with Kamikaze too -- on Mashtuur if no one is around I will grab the Skycow and use it to ram a fully loaded BlackHawk, since the Skycow's purpose is transport and ramming the BlackHawk =)

Usually my squad will ram it then steal the BlackHawk as it spawns ...

So your a n00b who can't use the gun, good for you, next time step away from the plane and let someone who isn't a waste of resources get in.

The kamikaze is an acceptable tactic - the only downside is that the jet is tied up ramming/respawning, when other pilots could be using it for other purposes.

Of course, every "jet whore" in the game complains when they get rammed, calling the offender a no-skill noob who can't shoot them down. I laugh, because those same "jet whores" are the ones telling others to play the game given to them and not whine about "cheap tactics" or aircraft being too powerful.

i had no problems getting another jet, it was a small 32 player server and no one really wanted to fly on my team. i don't mind ramming tanks, apcs, blackhawks if i feel they are gonna do great damage to my team and i can't kill them any other way.

I agree, I can't stand it when people ram me intentionally. It happened today as a matter of fact by REG ColBlade GB, I was quite annoyed by the way he replied to me after I asked if he rammed intentionally. (I was so annoyed I wrote down his name), admitadly I can see some of you saying that Its just a game etc.

But would anyone in RL fly their aircraft into a chopper cause its got two people in it and theirs just one of me? And yes I realise this is no RL and I also realise that genrally this isn't a realistic game, but hey, just my look on it.

If you really want to have some fun, place 3-4 C4 on the nose of the plane and use it like a big, bad cruise missile. When you slam into a target the C4 explodes, along with the aircraft.

Ramming is classified as a valid tactic, just like bunny hopping, C4 chucking, dolphin diving, etc. Any tactic that violates a player's comfort zone is perceived as cheap, but ultimately, it's just effective gameplay (provided the designers intended it), bridging the skill gap with creative tactics.

If a pilot is truly excellent, isn't it safe to assume that he can avoid being rammed? Quite honestly, if an enemy gets close enough to ram you, he out-maneuvered you.

True but to be honest I didn't see him coming, I was facing 45 degrees away from where he was coming from, and I don't claim to be an excellent pilot if that was directed at me, if It wasn't then slap me :)

Generally Bunny Hopping and Dolphin Diving are frowned upon, especially by most of the people in most of the servers I play in, and yes I generally see your point about invasion of player's comfort zone. People will whine about anything they can, but I don't think that the dev team intended for Dolphin diving or Plane ramming to be used widely.

Well, I've rammed a couple of people with a jet on accident because my flying skills are still horrendous. I play on a small server with lots of aircraft to go around and we all get lots of flying practice. And I can safely say that the pilots I rammed weren't out-maneuvered by me, they just were not expecting me to be so freaking out of control.

I honestly admit that I can't fly a plane well enough to even ram another plane. I have however used a blackhawk to ram a tank that was spawn raping our main.

i think there is a distinct difference between a skill gap in flying (much practice needed) vs. hitting the space key and jumping around like a fool.

when a person calls bunny hopping legitimate based soley on the fact that it is "in the game," he is usually the first person to use a tactic that most players see as dishonorable. hiding in the cloak of "the designers intended it" is invalid. what fool expected his players to be jumping and diving all game long. can't do it in real life, i think...

and when is the last time a pilots "rammed" as a tactic in the course of a real war? the japanese - why? because they were running out of "good" pilots who had bridged the skill gap with real ability. the americans, through better technology and sheer manpower, forced the kamakazie tactic to surface.

in this game, imo, anyone who rams is taking the cheap way out. just because its in the game doesn't mean its a justified "creative tactic." perhaps a player's comfort zone precludes him to unreal or other fps games and he or she should just move on? i don't know. to legitimize these tactics as answers for someone who doesn't take the time to make the effort and get the skills is to cheapen the game for everyone who does.

I usually try not to die in those situations...

I often c4 my jeep and jump out before getting close to the tank to then kill it...

Once, there were 2 bh on the boat, no one else on the boat so I c4ed the black hawlk... tirected it for a crash landing where I noticed an APC and talk... yet in those crazy ideas... its more of a challange to live thru it..

as for Pure Kamikaze missions, I am against the idea of it if the driver intends to RAM AND DIE

                            Re: Kamikaze: legitimate tactic

No intentional ramming on the server I admin on. Accidental rams are forgiven - but if they start happening over and over - cya. If you want to take out a ground or water based target - have at it (like the japanese did) - but aircraft to aircraft ramming because you do not have enough skill to shoot it down - is frowned upon and a bootable/bannable offense per the owner of the server - which I agree with.

The policy is well recieved by everyone that tends to visit our server - which we mostly have repeat players. There is a great respect among the players on both sides - you don't see bunny hopping, spawn camping, cheating or any bs that you find on the pubs. People know to keep it legit or they are hated by both sides and will either be griefed til they leave, or forcibly booted to make room for a better class of player.

If I run across a retard on the server - they get warned, and if they break the posted rules, get ousted. If they are just being a tard, I will wait until the beginning of the next round before I boot them. I am no so sadistic that I make them loose pts - unless they are cheating to get them.

It is cool to see the players pretty much police themselves though. They do not tolerate crappy play. If they can't talk the guy out of the server - then they bring it up to an admin to watch them and make sure they follow the posted rules.

I've heard its possible to one-shot a chopper with another chopper by 'landing' your chopper on top of the rotor blades of the enemy chopper [This means your chopper is still alive while the enemy one is down]. I've seen stuff like this happen with the attack choppers but I can't confirm if they were full on health.

Has anyone seen this happen or can verify this AND if it can work for the transport choppers?
