Next time I go down to Portsmouth i'll have a looksee for a LHD.

I'm pretty sure that she is not in Portsmouth by now... She was there because of the Fleet Review in july, and the last thing I heard of her, is that she is was sent to Norfolk for a "surge deployment"(I have no idea what that means). Still, you could go there to see the Ark Royal and the other ladies...

Its amphibious? As in I should be looking for an Essex driving down the highway sometime soon. Or is there a secondary meaning for that word I dont know about. (btw I'm not serious about the highway thing :-)

It has means of landing ground forces. That's what the amphibious part means.

someone said that u cant go under the deck properly, In Special forces the map called the iron gator u can go through the whole ship, engine rooms and next deck up then flight deck and the plane lift thingys on the side work. (operated by a switch) which in turn is funny as anything to claymore
also theres loads more junk on the flight deck. but u cant fly the planes there, there wings are folded up etc.

The UAV and SAT are not on the USS ESSEX on the 64 player Dragon Valley map

Oh and people need to stop calling them Carriers...they are Amphibious Assault Ships

The Battlefield 2 Version is very true to real life, it looks identical, with the 2s painted on the side and the rest. The Elevators are positioned correctly (but don't actually do anything, be nice if they did)
