First you will be able to take lifts inside buildings - which will be all open and with furniture. Daylight will change on the same map. You will have rain, thunder and lighting. No bunnyhopping by the way - human body will function as it should

Then you will have your visuals on lenses connected to your eyes.

Then, Your brain will have "intel inside" with processos to boost your brain capacity - even tho it will create a society of those who can afford and cant afford implants. Wireless connection to the internet and online games straight to your brain.

You will download the game straight to the brain and think your in the battlefield if you didnt feel your chair under you.

You will gave dreams of the battlefield at night, and flashbacks in the day - post traumatic stress disorders, and concentration problems cause you have become hyperactive and cant relax.

I don't want untra-realism, if I want that I'll join the army TYVM.

I want ultra-real-gameplay. Physics will be top of the line, maps will be 100% destructable, the human body will function as it should (ie no prone jumping/bunnyhopping), all that good stuff

Dont know if you're kidding or not, but this is probably the best guess so far. The next 20 years will bring much advanvement, some of which seems ludicrous now. Everything except the dreaming, of course. Images written directly onto the retina is an active and useablew technology, currently being tested on a broad scale. Controling the game will be done in a similar way, thinking about mving is the same thing as moving, pertaining to the brain. You will in fact, enter the battlefield from your own chair, with no visible PC or hardware anywhere around you. Surf KurzweilAI.net and the links provided there. They're right on the money, IMO.

Interesting question. I remember thinking about 5 years ago that the future of war games was team vs. team with integrated vehicles. And poof, here it is.

The future of games like this is basically whatever you can dream up. The computers get faster and memory becomes cheaper. Basically, anything and everything the DOD dreamed up over the last 20 years is now coming out in the commercial market. So expect bigger, badder and more realistic war sims. I also expect there to be a merge of some sort between the MMO worlds and FPS shooters. Most of the companies want a piece of the pay to play business. So that's just around the corner.

Buy graphic card producer stocks is a good tip for the next 5 years.

I remember about 12 years ago when the internet was becoming more like a household item. I use to day dream about multi player game play just like BF:2. I use to tell my friends about it and they thought I was just plain nuts. I would tell them that people from all over Texas (being honest here) would gather in a war simulation and you will literally see jets fly over your head and people driving jeeps. I had no idea that in just 12 years we would have over 60 people from all around the world join in one location and have an actual war simulation with tanks, jets etc. Just think whats to come in another 15 years.

                  Keep the ideas coming

There are vast problems if graphics get to good, one of the more tame things is actual sickness from driving in the games as your body won't be able to relate in the real world to what you are seeing on the screen and you will start to feel sick.
Also there a psychological issue with people not been able to define the real world and the game world and thinking the real world has the same rules.

As weird as that sounds I must agree with you. The visual effects in games are already triggering my motion sickness (i have terrible motion sickness when I travel or even ride in backseats of cars.) I can picture people doing some wicked stuff if the game becomes even 'more' involved. Time will tell I guess.

In the future our society will have changed, so wot people will do in rl in twenty years as the norm could be taboo or illegal now. another thing, if games get too real maybe people will start to prfere the game to real life, people might start playing these games as if it was there life.. so many questions and predictions, i guess time will tell........

Oh im hoping you dont mean that the violence that is not legal now will be legal in 20 years lol.

Anyway, the virtual worlds like the sims and , not only warsimulators gets better. People are allready making money on selling items in online games, these worlds are developing real fast now. These worlds do allready appeal more to some people then the real world, and its going to move to that direction even more as these online worlds continue to get better all the time.
