Quit preordering games. Reason being, is that it telling EA that you guys are so stuck up their tailpipe that after a buggy release like BF2, you are just gonna go out and blindly preorder the next installment. Another reason, is that your stores wont be totally out anyway. So the last point pretty much nulls your whole reason for preorder anyway.

looks like we have another one... how does it tell you that hmmm? i know what you are going to say - if BF2 sales made up a significant chunk of their revenue then yes - it would tell them this... but it dosn't

It does. When will you learn that there are directors, and sub-directors within EA that do care about the SF sales, and those guys will escalate if something is up.

Are you even remotely familiar with how big companies work?

My personal opinion -

Special Forces is a hastily thrown-together expansion that capitalizes from the wave of excitement for BF2 and is an easy money grab for EA. I can't justify getting a few new maps and weapons for a fair amount of money; I'm a cash-strapped university student. Heck, totalbf2 released a map pack that DICE reviewed and was impressed with! Looking at some of the screenshots just deterred me from getting the game even more. They didn't even bother modeling new buildings. I saw a building in a screenshot that was the exact same building where the Construction flag is on Sharqi. Corporate greed at its finest. Maybe all the less mature players will scramble for this and leave good, fair players to do battle in the original...

hahahahahahahaha WRONG more like DICE canada.... the only battlefield related sales that EA care about are for consoles... modern combat any1?
why would you care about the sales of a product that cost you NEXT TO NOTHING - its called maintaining market interest... riding the wave. if years had hundreds of thousands had been spent in development i would agree with you but i have seen the rapsheet and quite frankly it hasn't. if you had wanted to make a stand that they would have noticed boycotting BF2 vanilla would have been your best bet. but now you have left it too late. the fact of the matter is it would have to be a cost incurring venture for them to take notice and unfortunately the overhead on making an expansion pack is SO LOW that this is almost an impossability... so realistically the only result of your view is an extra copy of SF on the wall and a retailer who MAY have to sell it a couple of weeks later at a deflated price - does this hurt EA? no - because they already "broke even" on the wave of people who dont feel your way... the only person you hurt is the retailer...

Not sure what I'm looking forward to in BF2:SF, just looks fun. :) To all the people who complain about the bugs in BF2: Find 1 game that doesn't have bugs! Bugs come hand-and-hand with any type of program. It's not about how many bugs there are, it's about how fun it is. I really enjoy BF2 and can live with the bugs.

I haven't pre-ordered it but, I will probably buy it when it comes out.

Won't be buying it, not for any reasons above, I just love BF2 and think EA/Dice should have maybe just continued to add maps and stuff to BF2, DC kept 1942 sales alive just by adding new content to the mod and so would the sales for BF2 be kept alive, but by releasing a expanstion this could split the players thus droping sales.

It will be the mods that keep BF2 interesting, but again how much does the ranking system mean to players as mods will be on unranked servers, double edged sword, on one hand EA may loose ranked server payments as people want to have the mod running on the other hand if people are more interested in rank then the mods won't be played as much.

I'm not wrong about SF not being worth the money (for me, or anyone else with enough self-control to not purchase a half-assed product). I'm also not wrong about how the structure of big companies work, especially the relationship between a publisher and development shop.

DICE Canada is developing the game, but EA is publishing. That means that there are employees, at EA, who are in charge of marketing, sales, and support of the title.

This is not difficult to get.

You seem to think that I'm expecting some grand revolution, but as I've said before, I'm not.
