feels to me like its gunna be everything BF2 already is, just chewed up, and regurgitated, then slightly altered and presented as an expansion.
the only new content seems to be the maps.

ill probably eventually get it... but there are other new games that will come first, if they dont keep my interest, then ill pick it up... i think.

I never bought the BF1942 or BFV expansions - weren't they like what you described above?

A bunch of my (now defunct) clanmates bought Road to Rome, but they spent most of their time playing FH.

Only thing I think would be fun, would be the crossbow/zipline and pegging someone to a wall with it, then using the zip to slide down :)

More than likely it will be the mods that keep BF2 alive, just as in BF1942.

the only BF expansion i bought was road to rome... and yeah... it was pretty much just new maps... any other content was monior (that i recall). i played with the secreat weapons demo, but never bought it. the rocket pack was the only thing worth mentoning (again, that i recall).

Viet Nam i never touched till it was on the shelves for 20$, and even then i barely played it. however a couple of my friends swear by it... and still play it to this day.

I actually got some reasons not to buy the expansion:
-There are so many bugs in BF2 that I don´t wanna "reward" EA with more money for shipping a semi-finished game (even after patching).
-There´s only so much new content, once the first really good mods for BF2 come out this expansion will pale compared to them, if what happened with BF1942 is even a remote indication.
-Some of the stuff in the expansion is just incredibly stupid/arcardish , especially the grappling hook and that other rope. I don´t think they make for a good addition to the game, it just feels displaced in the more or less realistic setting of BF2 if everyone can do James Bond style rope stuff.

All IMHO of course, but the combination of those above is the reason why I have absolutely no urge whatsoever to buy the expansion.

I'm gonna hold off on buying the expansion pack. Trust me, I'm tempted to get it the day it comes out, but in some other "thread" someone posted a link to a swedish site that reviewed it. They said it was buggy as hell, and were wondering how the heck they were gonna have it ready in time for release.

Also, it appears that there isn't enough new content to really make me wanna throw down that kind of money.

I agree with the above peeps that when the mods start rolling out, I think you will see a huge swing of peeps to "unranked" servers to play these mods. I bet EA loses a bit of money due to people canceling their ranked server and getting an unranked server to play the mods.

Ill get it a few months after it comes out if i get well and truly bored of bf2 and the mods. I dont think playing night time maps will be much fun really, itll just make it harder for you to see people before you get shot. Grappling hook and zip wire sound good tho, itll add a whole new dimension to the game if people start playing on the roofs as much as they do on the ground :)

Im looking forward to excessive bunny hopping, tking for MY chopper, plane, tank and APC, flaming my teammates all day and sniping for hours doing nothing for the team effort. hehehe.

well in my case you get a discount....

guys i know that the mods will be better but seriously have fun waiting for them.... none of the good ones are even close to completion... at this rate you will all be playing vanilla till mid 2006 and quite frankly - you do that. i seriously dont mind forking over a little cash (and it isnt much guys) just to help tie me over for the very dry looking christmas period (no truly good games coming out...)

besides, i cant see my bf2 career going past next april (OFP2) so if i can make my last months more interesting i will....

oh and to the " i wont buy from EA as i want to send a message" argument - i think you guys better pick up an EA prospectus and see for yourself how important PC games are to EA - we make up such a small percentage of their profits that i'm afraid your "message" would be lost in the quarterly earnings from the console market...

ps. there never was a BFV expansion... they should have further developed the EA ww2 mod for it
