So I haven't been playing BF2 much, maybe like once every 2 weeks or so.
I have 3 unlocks so far - PKM, M95, and G36C. Got another rank last night but didn't get the unlock screen for my 4th one yet.

My main issue is the PKM. Is it just me or can that thing not hit a prone enemy? full auto, 3 shot bursts, single shot - doesn't matter.

seems to be like that with most of the guns actually.

another rant - last night i played on server and all but 2 or 3 deaths from infantry was from a 1 shot kill. It was so ridiculous that I left that server.

Yeah it does, I have found you have to aim the pkm below the person and quick burst will ride gun up to hit, rinse and repeat. direct aim seems to be way off on prone targets.

That, and it's a crappy gun. RPK-74 wipes it anyday.

give the PKM time and you'll come to appreciate its power.... do as the above poster said, aiim low on prone targets. Always fire this thing from the prone position, unless ur 5' from your target (even then its iffy if you'll hit them lol).

But the gun has great range and stopping power - when the bullets hit. Short bursts, almost single firing it works best. Though at times its a great weapon for supressing fire, just spam it in a direction and let ur teammates take care of business....

It was my 2nd unlock and frustrated me to no end in the beginning, but I'm quite happy with it now...

Worst gun for me is that damn L85 .. i dunno what it is... i can hit targets... i just cant kill em. Ive even been outgunned by a PP19 and IMO that just shouldnt happen... prolly my technique but when i switch over to the support guy, things just fall into place... specially with the PKM.

Just like me with the L85, ||ass||variable, up there has no clue how to use the PKM, its anything but a crappy gun. just takes some gettin used to. the advise given so far is what i woulda said. its pretty much right on with what ive found with the gun.

I have a hard time with the PKM too. But I LOVE the L85. . .that gun rocks. Rememer, however, it is almsot useless close range unless you pull up the iron sites. . .ALWAYS use them.

Ive had some teething troubles with the PKM (opening up with a good 7 second burst at someone literally at point blank without scoring a single hit, for example) but once you get used to it and fire in short bursts it's very powerful. Just never, NEVER stand up or turn off iron sights whilst firing. Also remember your pistol - it's very useful at very close range and at very long range, as it's suprisingly accurate.

actually i realized that last night...
seems to me that if you use the scope you dont really have to burst fire at close/mid range. you can just hold that fugger down... which is good.

when not zoomed in, it doesnt seem to be as accurate for me.

at long range... it seems to take a few hits to actually kill someone, and if they run and make it to that corner, i usually end up with a kill assist unless i can find them again.

The weapon you are given are a rifle/machine gun for long/medium range encounter, a pistol for close quarters combat, and a knife for out of ammo / extremely close quaters combat.

Whenever a target comes within 15 feet of me and i have the PKM i pull the pistol out quickly and pop a mag into the target as fast as i can press my mouse button. Always drops them

The PKM is a great gun, I used it again after not using for a couple weeks, and had 38kills, 6 deaths on Karkand. Wow, that thing owns on certain maps/situations.

Oh, I know how to use it fine - I just know that other guns are much better, AND more flexible.

The problem with everyone who advocates the PKM is that they desperately want to like Support - so much that they trick themselves into thinking the PKM is an exceptional gun. It's very mediocre, and incredibly limited in its usefulness.

The PKM is actually pretty accurate if you know how too shoot it.

always shoot whilst prone.

alternate between bursts at medium range full auto close range and single shots long range.

also when firing in bursts or full auto you need too allow for the rise of the gun so aim below the target and let the recoil bring it up.

Do those things and you should find it too be pretty accurate i have even been known to do headshots on people at range with it. :)

The gun is fine just aim shoot at the floor lol but the SAW is better.

no way, the saw is 10x more accurate. like on karkand, i can be on the hill near the usmc base and hit the mec guys coming out of the fenced area to the right of their flag. with the pkm i can't hit people who are 10 feet from me.

i know the pkm isn't supposed to be accurate, but come on, if a guy is standing like 10 feet from me and i just lay on the trigger, that guy should be swiss cheese. its like that in every fps game i have played.
