Can anyone tell me how good the Radeon 9800 Pro is, like 6th best, or w/e? because when we got this comp, it was the best GFX card out there..

I consider it a mid range card. It'll run BF2 fine on medium-low if you have the RAM.

The RAM makes a huge difference. I only have 512mb but my friend has 1gb and we have essentially the same PC, except I have a 9800pro and my friend has the 9800. His computer runs BF2 so much more smoothly that I cried.

Ok while im just on desktop im using 190Mb of RAM, when the game is loading im using 570 MB and when im in the game its using 930MB... So not as much as i thought myself.

The 9800, although only a "mid-range" card will perform better than that. Just look at my card, a lowly 9550, and it performs better than low-medium, and i can play like that withh out it OC'ed i just found out, but it is a tad laggy when its not OC'ed.

i think the point he is trying to make is that the graphics look the same when he turns it to high or medium

hey blak, can you recommend the best way to OC a vid card.

Ok well there are a few ways to do this. Firstly there is the BIOS, in there you can adjust the voltage of the GPU (video card) this will give you a more stable OC. So to start put it up one step. Then test it, then bump it up another. Kepp doing so untill you can not bump it up anymore or it becomes unstable. When it becomes unstable, ie. you get lkines on the screen or things nor appraring or working propperly, take it back down a notch. The second it adjusting the clock and memory speeds of the GPU. I cant do this im my BIOS, but you may be a ble to do so in yours. As i cant, i use a program that came with my mobo card called V-Tuner 2. Im not sure if it will work with an NVidia card, but i assume so. By the way i have a Gigabyte mobo Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 v2. If you have a Gigabyte mobo, then it should have this program installed. To check see if there is a file under "C:\Program Files" called GigaByte. If there is there should be a sub file called "VGA Utility Manager" If this folder is there, get back to me, as it is then really easy to OC the GPU.

So I have a 6600GT. Everything is fine when I have everything on high until I get to my 2nd map. Then it's stuttering for the first 3-4 minutes after the next map loads while it swaps out virtual memory. It ruins the game and isn't worth it. Actually I run everything on medium because it really speeds up load times and you can't really notice the difference when playing.
