I have a Radeon X850XT Turbo IceQ II overclocked to 540/1180 and I am very happy with it, with 2 Gig of RAM it plays BF2 with everything on high and 6 x AA.

ok i'll have to restart the comp to get those but this has never happened before. I had the comp since May and it's only started happening the last few weeks. I havn't played with the bios of anything. So that makes me think it's something to do with a program. I keep running over all these senarios in my head but can't come up with something that could cause it.

I really don't want to format again cause it'scoming up to crunch time at uni and i can't afford to have the comp off for a day

You dont have to restart to get the timing, may i suggest getting a program called Everest, its brilliant, tells you everything about your PC. You can get it here.

Yea, it would not be good to have to re-format the HD.

I have heard that te new patch has a memory leak... Bbut i dont know about that, and i think alot more people would be complaining if so, bu tit would explain a bit...

My main prob has nothing to do with BF2 though. This happens when i'm doing everyday stuff not playing games. If i play another game i have no probs and it will never slow down. Like you mentioned before i think it tends to happen when i have a number of progs running. But the thing that annoys me is it won't happen all the time. It's very sparatic. I can have ten things running at a time and it will be fine, then sometimes it just goes into slowmo.

Ok, i get it now. When you say sometimes you can have heaps of programs running, would they be very RAM "thirsty" or not? As music, for example takes up a fair bit of RAM, but internet explorer/firefox/netscape... etc dont.

Ok, i've tried to notice trends in when it happens. My first 'trend' was haveing word running while firefox and the net. When it happened again without word running i had to dismiss that idea. I have noticed it happen a couple of time with media player running though.

What i don;t understand is how it could continue after i have restarted the comp. This has happened more than once. Then i can sit here all night chatting to you and have no probs. I really need to pay more attention to what i've got running when it happens, or i could just stop being lazy and format but i only want to do that as a last resort.

Yea, you could try and burn it to DVD's, depending on how much data you have, or do you have a spade HD? then you could transfer te data and format the HD, transfer the data back.

Ok that prog is very useful and pretty nifty but it doesn't tell me clock ratio's for my ram.

I think i'll just pay a lot more attention to what i'm doing when it happens and try to pinpoint it from there. I'll prolly end up formatting after the semester is over.

Thank-you so much for your help. It's not very often you find someone as helpful as you on these forums. I really hope i chat with you again sometime. We should be on at the same time seeing as i live in Bris. I need to go to bed cause i'm struggling to keep my eyes open

Sorry i could help find the soloution, i guss the best thing would just be to get more RAM.. but that costs $$$ lol...

And if when in Everest go to "Computer" then "Overclock" it should say the timings about half way down.
