I have skipped this thread for a while now. Air never really bothered me.
BUT>..............
you know what. Yeah, spam bombers really do suck the life, and fun out of this game. Least for me. So hum drum....... spawn, get 5 SU spammers on the head. Spawn........rinse repeat.
Forget the AA being tweaked to counter this........its still as crappy as it was crappy before the patch. DOnt care who says it isnt. It is. If you think otherwise you got lucky one round or two.
Air.......... its lame as hell. People want to fight people in this game. Not some dip****, throwing down 5 spam bombs, killing every enemy at a flag....not to mention the 3 sorry ass team mates (TK) there as well.

They didn't even keep their airbase the entire round.

• 2 deaths: TKs (one when he spawned on his squadleader and his squadleader TK'ed him and the other when he was running for a plane, someone shot him in the back)
• 1 death: USS Essex (forward and aft gunner on the Essex - aft gunner got him)
• 2 deaths: On the ground against enemy (when they didn't have the airbase)

I think the best thing to do is steal all their aircraft. Then you don't have to worry how good their pilots are.

Alternatively...

Improve the Phalanx and Sea Sparrow combination on the carrier. The Phalanx is suppose to be a fully automated 20mm gatling gun, while the Sea Sparrow is a radar-guided short-range missile. The Phalanx should do more damage, have a higher firing rate and spread, or even become fully automated (no human player necessary), while the Sea Sparrow should also do more damage, have longer range, and be immune to flares.

That might make the carriers too strong though. But on the flip side, airfields could have stronger air defences too. How many military airfields are defended by one Stinger emplacement?

The thing about the Essex is that there is a gun implacement both fore and aft on the ship. when both are in action it makes the ship far less inviting to enemy pilots, yet none seem to man the fore guns ever..

So? The airpower complaint is such a minor portion.. the very few times (twice) where the match has been so unbalanced due to air superiority I've just left to find a different server. It's that simple. No one here really cares how much you want to whine about it, and you only open yourself up to criticism when you do.

If you don't want to find a new server, then here is another solution:
Get a better computer and sound card. Turn on shadows. You can hear the always hear the jet coming and depending on the map, you can see their shadow. If you're on foot, take cover... plan on moving from one bit of cover to the next if airstrikes are that bad. If you're in a vehicle, take evasive action. 75% of the time I am able to evade the bombs by flanking left or right, or even turning completely around and heading right towards them.

Meh. I shot down 2 fighters, 2 blackhawks and a cobra in one round last night using AA.

The AA is fine. It's all about your timing.

good point, i agree there although knowing that doesn't make it equal quite yet. I always thought a nice addition to this game would be a portable stinger to counter this a bit. Maybe go more bananas and give engineers a possibility to repair the SAM launchers so they are usable more quickly.

I can't say i totally agree on the "AA SUXx0rZ" dudes, but i can see why being dominated from above can be demotivating. a SAM has a delicate touch and timing your release is essential. Firing a fast acceleration missile 90 degrees on a fast moving target won't work well. but when you launch it from behind a target the missile will quickly go straight for it. the AFA (anti friendly Air ) option is a bit f***ed up though, this should be fixed.

Maybe someone already mentioned this but i think that with good teamwork jets can be countered quite well but unfortunately this won't happen in publics so often.

I know you all probably think I'm just saying this because I'm not a pilot...maybe that's true, but here me out. Airpower is just ripping apart this game. If the other time has 1 more good pilot than yours, first off, any strategy or team work becomes impossible. If you are getting shot at by a sniper you can take cover in an area where he can't get you, and perhaps sneak up behind him. If you see a tank coming, you can run to an area where it can't get you. But when there's airpower in the game all you can do is get in the AA, get in another aircraft, or die. AA is luck as far as I can see, and airpower...well, what the heck kind of strategy or teamwork could you use there? Aircraft is just about aim and experience as far as I can see. Second, where's this rock paper scissors system EA speaks of? If air is paper, what are the scissors? AA misses 90% of the time, and gets a team kill another 7% for no logical reason. Meanwhile it just takes one quick swoop from the heli or jet and that AA is blown to bits. Worst of all is the ability they have to repair. If you damage a heli or jet (damage a jet, aren't I hiliarous), you can get it off your teams back for a few seconds, but get no credit for your help. Fourth, airpower has no reflection on the skill of who it kills, just on the one doing the killing, unlike infantry, tanks, and maybe even AA. It is just like artillery, you simply need to stay out of large crowds and hope to god you get lucky. I don't have anything against pilots. I don't blame them for using airpower while it is there, but the airpower is just taking so much out of the game.

It sounds to me like you're upset that the pilots are scoring bigtime and you're not. If that's the case, let them score all they want. Do what you have to do to get your score up.

If that's not the case, I really don't know what you're complaining about. When I'm playing for an hour or two, I'll get killed by jets like 2-3 times within that period of time. That's peanuts. Nothing compared to what enemy infantry, enemy tanks, enemy snipers, APC's do to me in that same period of time.

All I can say is... Jump into a jet and get some payback!
