no but i can thell you exactly where it fails... PATCH.RTP, every time. i can try again and attach it if you think it will help.

Are you by any chance using ***** cracks or virtual CD mounted images?

nope... i have not modified my BF2 at all. no mods, no pathces, no cracks.

There is no "patch.rtp" in the patchlog.txt file (not in mine at least).

sorry dude i did try startin a new thread but it said not enough privalges to start one,

Run the patch and pick your language. Don't press any other buttons.

In yout temp folder you'll find a folder with a lot of numbers and characters in it, inside this you'll find the extracted contents of the patch. There are about 11 files I think.

Burn thse files to CD

Install the patch normally from the cd.


It may seem weird but has worked for others !

When you do a clean install (meaning that you delete the registry keys manually) the first thing you should do is update punkbuster by downloading pbweb.exe from their site. Only then do you install the patch.

I think you said that you had already done this but I'm just checking....

yep... done that... one issue... when i go into cmd prompt, i cant change directory to my cd rom drive (drive H)... WTF?

ok... i figured it out but i still got the error... this is what i did

1) manual uninstall
2)installed BF2
3)updated PB
4)through the cmd prompt i onstalled the patch from a cd

i got the same error...

That’s good for you, I’m glad it worked, but this is a thread for people who are having problems with there patch. If you want to rub the fact that your patch works fine and loaded fine you can start your own thread.

Back on track... I gave up with BF2. I think I will go and buy FEAR today and just play that. It’s too bad, it’s a good game (when it works), and it was also $50... so there comes a time in a mans life when he must just except his losses, and now I have finally excepted the fact that I must put BF2 away in my CD case, and carry on. I am going to boycott EA and DICE though... until I get BF2 working that it. Before any of you start saying it, because I know you will, I acknowledge that a lot of people had the patch load fine, but I don’t care about the people who it works fine for... I’m happy for them, jealous of them, but that’s about it. For those of you who can’t get the game to work just as I, I wish you luck.
