1.03 is giving me a headache

So I’ve been searching for fixes for the patch failed error and found nothing that helps me.:evil:

I do have all the updated drivers and my PC is way above the min system requirements.

So… what do I do? I submitted a question to EA support but I think they are ignoring me.

so no one has a fix? i know i'm not the only person with this problem. i try to install the patch, a window pops up after a while that says the patch failed, i hit okay, then the patch says it was successfully loaded. i try to play the game but it CTD after i try to join a server... even single player.

no one had this problem?

What is the exact file size of the patch you downloaded?

Have you tried re-downloading it?

Do you have the game installed to a directory other than the default?

Have you tried a manual uninstall?

You have to install the patch as admin of your comp meaning right click patch and then click under open and install it manually as admin of your comp and it will work there are at least 100 post with this problem read them next time.

Yes, the answer is posted in about 50 different threads all over the forum. if people didn't reply it's because they're tired of giving out the same answers over and over again :)

Okay Ptegan, thank you for the smart ass remark.

i have seen all the other postes and they have not helped me at all... as i said in my first post.

the file size is 179,789,735 bytes
i downloaded it seviral times from diffrent sources
at the moment i have it on a partition, but i also have tried installing it at the default location and that didnt seem to help.
i have done seviral uninstalles, including manual, i even ran a regestry cleaning program just in case the uninstall missed something.

as i told Ptegan, i did read them, otherwise i wouldnt have waited this long to post this. when i run as admministrator i get this error:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

i have full admin privolages on my account so i dont see how this would solve my problem... but at the same time i dont understand why i get the error.

Don´t go in as the name u gave yourself use Admnistrator and tpye the password you have full right but only windows is the real admin.So do it manually and u will see administator and type the pw in thats what we mean.

SAFE MODE !!!!! Reboot and go into safemode, run patch, reboot, play game.

I had the same problem its a confict between somthing that is running on your comp and the patch safemode will fix it.

I tried that... logged off of my account, pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del twice, logg in as administrator and run the patch. i got the same problem... out of qureasity, can you give me an exact link of where you got your patch from?

Just tried to do it in safe mode... no good... this is also after a fresh install of XP pro.

On another note, i submitted this problem to EA Support over 3 days ago and i still got no responce, the site sais that i will get a reply within 24 hours!!! i'm getting agrivated. too bad they dont have an 1-800 support number.

It would seem that the 1.03 is even buggier than that of the 1.02 patch and I think that EA needs to drop everything else and get working on fixing their Frack up. This is really getting ridiculous and I am almost to the point of hanging up BF2 until they EA fixes their issue. It's time that they roll back to 1.02.

Titus give me some sytem specs ie mobo cpu and vidcard,

Did you install all drivers first after reinstall of xp ?

Have you got the latest SP2 installed on your system ?

Do you have Directx 9c on your system

Have you got the latest drivers for your board ?

Be sure that you have SP2 and DX 9c installed these 2 points would be the most important.

Because its not installing in safe mode is strange as it cuts out all your drivers which usually would confict with the install.

By the error message you posted it may even be a hardware issue what type of ram do you have and HDD ?
